    Post Turtle McConnell.
And he doesn’t realize WHY people call our nation’s capital, “the swamp”, “the cesspool”, and “Mordor-on-the-Potomac”.

No wonder our politics is so screwed up – the right is ‘red’.

Various other names have been inserted into this joke, but this time it’s McConnell’s turn.
    A post turtle:
A turtle balanced on top of a fence post.
He didn’t get up there by himself.
    He doesn’t belong up there.
He’s elevated beyond his ability to function.
He doesn’t know what to do while he’s up there.
And you wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there in the first place.

McConnell isn’t the senator we wish we had. However, he’s better than most of what we had in the last decade, or so.

I appreciate the times that Mitch has been very useful.
I can point to the matches that he has won against Schumer for Judicial appointments. One big one to go before we are safer.

McConnell has been in the Senate since 1984 and he’s in his late 70s… much like Pelosi, Schumer and other swamp dwellers… Just saying…

    Point. Set. Match. Tournament.
And Mitch can’t see that over 50,000,000 Second Amendment supporters just naturally support and back him and basic American ideals and ideas and values without any real organization. It’s natural and organic, Mitch.
    It is not Perception Management.

The longer that the left does not achieve a Permanent Voting Majority, the more people find the new media and realize what’s going on. People are talking of Blexit and Orthodox Jewish are starting to turn on the democrats.
There is no question why the left is so strident; this is a big one coming up. And if the necessary indictments of highly placed leftists occur, they will go ****ing crazy.

People in The Only Places That Matter (DC, LA, NYC, etc.) think that like Orwell’s 1984, The Hunger Games is a “How-To” manual for Utopia.

They really need to be disabused of that delusion soon. The actual result is more likely to look like the dystopian post-apocalyptic SF novel of your choice.

Then again, I’m sure quite a few of them think that would be a desirable outcome. A Mad Max world looks like fun to somebody who dreams of being Humongous or Auntie Entity.

I suspect the reality wouldn’t be so amusing, even to them.

Big cities think they wag the dog; often we let them. But they are easy to control. Activism is a luxury of a well fed and comfortable people. Take away the surety of their next meal and they’ll quit worrying about the manufactured rights of others, and start working rather honestly for their own basic interest.

EMBARGO ON! No more trucks in, o more food on the grocery shelves, activism is suddenly not a major concern.

It’s been said that no city is more than three meals from anarchy. How many HOURS would NY or LA last without HVAC, Light, WIFI or Refrigeration?

We’ve already seen a progression in NYC due to accidental power outages.
The first time things were civilized.
The second the looters caught on.
If it happens again the city will burn, not by happenstance but by advanced planning, both by the looters and the government.

        MasterDiver,

Thirty-six to forty-eight hours and ANY city is out of EVERYTHING. Food, paper products, medical supplies, fuel, you name it.

However, they first will run out of caffeine, nicotine, ethanol, and a variety of legal (such as SSRIs) and illegal drugs to which at least 20% of the population is thoroughly addicted. Those who are addicted go feral within 48 hours to feed their jones.

That’s when the party REALLY starts.

1984 and The Hunger Games are great metaphors … I’ve heard it repeated often that Orwell’s novels like Animal Farm and 1984 are cautionary tales for conservatives; for the left, they’re how-to instruction manuals.

Yet, these analogies still don’t quite fully explain why individual people vote themselves into serfdom. It’s also been said that you can vote yourself into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of socialism.

Here is a case-in-point … a self-identified progressive restaurant worker in Seattle votes in her city council, which then proceeds to enact policies to eliminate her own job. I think Ayn Rand also once said that communism is to socialism what murder is to suicide … yet the result for both is still the same: death.

We all owe Senator McConnell far more than is generally recognized. He blocked ever Obama judicial appointment in 2016 for a YEAR, hoping that a Republican would win the White House. The Democrats didn’t complain too much because they knew that Hillary was going to win. They also thought the optics of a Republican Senate blocking Obama judicial appointments favored them in the election; they were wrong.

Happenstance? Or Divine intervention? Either way, we owe Mitch McConnell. Big-time.

A turtle is a little slow and self-protective, but methodical and tough, and ultimately productive.

A mole hides in the dark and operates unseen until the damage underground is done, ultimately very destructive. I’ve never been sure which one McConnell really is.

Was his idiotic handling and intentionally provocative pronouncements leading up to the Dims “impeachment” the ultimate snow-job leading to the delay and doubling down of their stupid but harmful efforts?

The man has been around the block a few times. It wouldn’t surprise me if he is both a turtle and a mole for his own reasons, and he definitely is a political calculator.
The intriguing thing to me is what Cocaine Mitch might have in store for the Shampeachment if it is ever actually carried out.
We might just see some House members serving time for _their_ “abuse of power”.

The Florida Gopher tortoise burrows up to 8 feet deep.

      • December 28, 2019 at 9:12 pm

But their digs are considered helpful not harmful by virtue of those burrows being adopted as housing for other critters;…and they, their holes and surrounding area are thus protected by law.

That’s good…unless you have horses or cattle on your land, or you know, want to build something on it.

Ask me how I know about that last one.

        I don’t have to ask.

Indigo snakes also like the burrows.
They are beautiful. Eat pesky critters, and also are protected.

That was written in 2004. It states clearly what the urban liberal thinks of the rest of the USA. It is the root of comments about ‘deplorables’ and ‘bible-toting gun nuts’ and ‘bitter clingers’ from liberal politicians. It is quite depressing to read but it should give one a clear picture of what we are up against.

Fortunately the arrogance of the article fails to recognize the precarious strategic position that liberal cities are in. Some of these are mentioned above. Termination of a few very essential services to the cities for a relatively short period of time will bring any urban survivors to heel. And ‘to heel’ brutally is exactly what will be needed to assure future peace.

Much of the information is still the same as to left wing arrogance. Mildly amusing that red states were called s**tholes. When, its the large blue cities that real open air outhouses. I believe Mao isolated the cities by taking the countryside.

De Tocqueville’s analysis that the US would end as it was when the cities grow to become the evil corrupt cesspools that Europe’s had become still has merit. Modern reality contains the examples of the corrupt evil cities abundantly.

I long have thought that these states should be liberated from each other. Cut a city area into a state and free it and also free the rest of the state.
But who listens to little ole me much of the time.
