“Give me a double….” Every father who has raised daughters knows just what Zed means.

And I would give anything to go back and do it again.

I had one of each. No regrets… although I wish I’d dumped the wife far earlier as her influence was consistently pernicious, to the kids and even more so to me. Life got much easier once her poison was gone.

Yep. Sons was bad enough. And we found women to take them. No warranty, however, and no returns allowed.
Raised a daughter.
I had nerves of steel and an iron disposition. Ruled the homestead with determination. She turned out Great!
Basically, I ignored the hysterics, emotions and shouting. Threw chocolate when things got too loud and went to moves while it took affect.

Raised by a divorced, never re-married mother with a totally out-of-the-picture father. I had four older sisters and no brothers. It was all training. I got married and had two daughters, no sons. Both graduated early at the top of their classes. Oldest had her Masters in History at twenty-two. They got plenty of love and discipline. Plenty of emotional drama, Other than that they were a breeze to raise.

What was it Jimmy Soul said in that song?
“If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. So my personal point of view, is get an ugly woman to marry you.”
Yeah I paid about as much attention to that advice as Zed and Javier. My version is “It ain’t always easy with a smokin’ hot wife but you’ll have a smile on your face for the rest of your life.“

That my girl loves her Dad, is sweet and protective, and is handy with sword, cannon, flamethrower, and sundry other toys might have been a clue.

Oh, yes. But then, politeness is more or less the norm in our circles. As you might imagine.
Her brother’s the best marksman of the family, but the girl will cheerfully learn to use anything involving blades or fire. And yeah, good with maintenance, rolling charges, safety, etc. Couldn’t be prouder.

My daughter was taken from me at three and a half, and deliberately prevented much access for 13 years, until one day, she realized that I wasn’t as bad as her mother let on about, not to mention her mothers continuing adulterous behavior.
Now we’re Good! She’s good, and I’ll say she’ll never go and act like her mother.

The “joys” of having girls…when you remember what you were like when you were younger (and haven’t changed).
Was it in one of Tom Clancy’s novels, where someone observed that daughters are God’s revenge on a man for the way he thought when he was younger?
