What would make a good twist to this story is to face each of them, separately, with the same moral dilemma and requirement to show compassion and see who shows true compassion and truly helps their neighbor.

Progressives wish to remind you that government owns all property but will benevolently allow you to use parts of it for a while by their largesse.

Bill de Blasio: ‘We Will Seize Their Buildings, and We Will Put Them in the Hands of a Community Nonprofit’

De Blasio will be making a Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants to investigate and punish landlords. Except the city already has an Office of Tenant Advocate, that the city council created last year, but the mayor is refusing to fund it, possibly because the mayor wasn’t able to claim credit for making it.

And this is after his bold maneuver the day before to force employers to offer 10 days paid vacation to employees, this benefit possibly targeted at recent immigrants (legal and otherwise?) in low-end jobs. “De Blasio’s office specifically highlighted the 470,000 combined employees in the city’s professional services, retail, hotel, and food industries who don’t get paid vacation.”

All this and a $15 minimum wage. NYC, the New Workers Paradise.

They have the compassion, you have the cash in.

I’m sure the socialized housing will fix the shortage there.

And that the Workers Party will sell lots of $20 burgers.

NYC Public housing is one of the worst landlords in the city.
Living conditions for the 100-or-so residents of the Eagle Avenue apartments are emblematic of sweeping neglect by Nycha, the landlord for the nearly 400,000 people in public housing which has been accused of malfeasance, mismanagement and of mishandling the removal of lead paint and mold from its apartments. Residents from more than two dozen households in the 36-unit walk-up on Eagle Avenue between 158th and 161st Streets told the The New York Times that repeated complaints about inadequate heat have gone unheeded by Nycha, their landlord.

Residents of NYC are likely going to get colder. They have Con Edison’s Steam Operations heating Manhattan, with 50% of annual steam production from cogeneration (i.e. from waste heat from burning fossil fuels). Likewise there are smaller centralized systems and many places with their own steam-making boilers. 80% of NYC multifamily residences use steam heating.

But AOC and de Blasio hate burning fossil fuels and want to replace them with 100% renewables, so there goes the cogeneration, and burning fossil fuels period for steam. Except for very few very localized cases, renewables are all geared for electricity production. But electric boilers for steam heating are not great, you’d be better off with electric heaters in individual units. Which will require a massive upgrading of electrical systems for distribution and for buildings.

How many building owners will be footing that bill? How high will the taxes go for how long so the city can help out “as needed”?

Meanwhile, the NYC subway system lurches from breakdown to breakdown due to delayed maintenance. Suggest NYC dwellers invest in walking shoes and, for winter, Wellies.

What? Escape to where? We’ve got more than enough of those abrasive mother fuckers trying to make a filthy nest here in Fla like the one they are “escaping”.

      Fuck them! Fuck compassion!

Man, that pre-alzheimer’s condition that I share with you is a bummer. Worst for me is that I more frequently lose my words…sometimes right in the middle of writing something the one I want just won’t come. Hate that shit, and hate letting google dictionaries retrieve my vocabulary for me.

For you it appears that it kills your hit count…a lot of the usual suspects in commentary seem to trend toward very late/early compared to our EST. But they’ll be back, even maybe still today, because there just ain’t nothing else like this place.

Just have to remember that getting old has it’s good points too…
well no that’s a lie, it sucks. But you know, carry on. And try not to fuck up my bedtime DBD fix too much more.

Very strange. ABC News informed me again today that the vast majority do not want The Wall. Yet this Jan 2019 Politico poll reports, question POL24, that 44% support The Wall, 47% oppose, with 9% Don’t Know/No Opinion. Margin of error +/-2% so with a 3-point spread statistically it’s a wash.

I don’t think they understand what is a majority, except that it’s something they know they’re in because they’re hip and down with the people.

They are just the posh and worthy of the posh bashing the African gang members engage in there in Dublin and elsewhere.
500,000 more imported Africans is the goal of the Irish President and his party by 2030. Gotta have 8 million people in a new diverse Ireland by 2040. Facts de damned. The policy of the Irish government is to frak the Irish. Who cares about a population that has roots back to the last Ice Age when the ice receded and opened up to Ireland to compassionate immigration hijrah invasion from oppressed Africa which is so oppressed that it is doubling the number of people there to emigrate across the world and that includes the EU and the USA. The UN and friends love you for your work. they want it all.
