Day By Day

  • Merle

Kind of painted himself into a corner, eh?

  • TomZ

Tell him that people get upset when someone else messes with their stuff without permission.

  • KenH

    Let me assist, Huuuman

We now return to actual important stuff, like NHL playoffs in Nashville…

  • Deplorable B Woodman

“Son, you want to play with stuff, change stuff, come ask me first. I like fun as much as the next dude, but sometimes ya just have to leave stuff alone. So talk to me. Please. I love you. Otherwise, next time, I’ll stuff you in an isolation chamber.”

    • tom ploszaj

With him it wouldn’t help much, though maybe a Faraday cage could be a challenge him for a while

  • Kafiroon

“Son, I know you can fix things better than they are, but some things need to be left just the way they are because the people that have them, believe they know better than anyone else and want it that way.
And we should not, unnecessarily, hurt their feelings.”

    • GWB

but some things need to be left just the way they are because…
      they don’t belong to you.

      • Kafiroon

Meh. That does Not stop the govt or proglodites from messing with “my” stuff. Note 2nd. Amendment for just One thing.

        • John

The Proglodites are at heart Communists and believe that Property IS Theft.
The young man, on the other hand, needs the foundational principals explained to him.
Let him read Adam Smith and John Locke. See if that straightens him out.

  • Pamela

Hmm, if he were my son, I’d take him totally off grid with ZERO access to any tech with the exception of a Ticonderoga #2m a pad of paper, shovel, hoe, rake and a whole barn full of Cows, Chicken Coops and a Piggery needing cleaning.

    • cfm56dash7

Using the shovel on barns, coops, and sties only provides training for future dealings with the state.

  • Forrest Higgs

Plot flaw… How did the FBI track him down if he is as bright as he obviously is. This situation should have never eventuated.

    • Doggo

Probably forgot that the hotel’s wifi is not as secure as the network back at the Double D

  • FH, remember the old saying (wish I could post this in script),”Feces eventuate”.

  • S'aaruuk

When I was a USAF medic, we used to say: “Feces Occurs”. Used to LOVE the puzzled expressions on people’s faces when I’d tell ’em that.

THEN, I give ’em the translation. *Evil grin/chuckle*

    • TomZ

That would have gotten a smile from me.
My mom studied to be an LPN when I was in middle school.
Although she would have said BM instead of feces.

  • Th3o More

When is the shoe gonna drop about how much they are gonna get outta this?

  • eon

Greater efficiency is only a virtue if the system in question is not run by babbling idiots.

Vegas fails that test epically and always has.

    clear ether

    • Henry

I made similar “improvements” a number of times in my career. Sometimes I later learned there was a good reason for the system to be running hobbled. Sometimes those reasons were engineering reasons (parts ran too hot, or equipment outran human attendents). Sometimes they were administrative reasons (records retention or logging requirements). I had to learn the lesson that sometimes the improvement that was obvious to me was lacking not because I was smarter than the designers, but because the designers had good reasons not to include it. Something our boy David Hogg has definitely not learned.

    • cfm56dash7

You wrote ‘Vegas’ and ‘virtue’ in the same paragraph. Their only common ground is the first letter.

  • Catbert

    No sunglasses!

    • Bob in Houston-Vast Right Wing Basket of Deplorable!

Heh, see my comment in Apr 19 2018 at 7:16 pm ‘s comment section!

    • MasterDiver

      True dat!

      Zar Belk!

  • Tom Stockton

Okay, they gotta rein the kid in… But they gotta do so carefully. His tech abilities have proved themselves as a valuable resource at the Double-D, and need to be encouraged to learn more and expand. Javier could end up being their savior if the proverbial cow patties hit the fan!

    • Tom Stockton

BTW, Mr. Muir — love how things are going, both here and over at Redvolution. Keep up the good work!

      Tom Stockton

  • Paul

“Son, this is America. Charity is one thing, but for this kind of thing you get paid first!”

  • Jay B.

Intriguing set of suggestions above …… It seems this character is destined to be one of the legs of this stool.

  • Fronk!

Have we ever seen Damon drawn with no sunglasses before?

    • PaulS

Yes. Of course the same question was asked then, And so on, until the answer was “no. 😉

  • Delilah T.

Just because you CAN do something, it does not mean you SHOULD.

And don’t “should” on yourself, either.

Meantime, go sit on the quiet chair and read this book: “Have Spacesuit – Will Travel”.

    • Vince

      Great reading!

  • JTC

Keep up the disruption boy, that’s exactly what we need.

But have Dad watch your back because you are fucking with the job security of a whole chain of vested interests here who would slip you a Clinton style response in a heartbeat.

But yeah, keep it up…fuck their crooked-ass coal-fired driverless bullshit.

    • No shit.

    • JTC

I’d like to think the kid knows the truth…that there is no -repeat no- bs feelgood gov subsidized -meaning stolen from our pockets- new-age electric public transportation scheme that comes anywhere near self sufficiency and all -repeat all- are ridden with corruption and exist only because of it. A remotely hacked choreographed prissy dance is the perfect mocking commentary.

      • eon

The primary purposes of public transportation are graft, corruption, and feel-goodism.

The politicians get the graft, which feeds their corruption. The people who hate civilization and humans generally get to feel good about punishing people for existing by treating them like cattle.

Not to mention spying on them to make sure they’re reading something “proper” like the Utne Reader as opposed to, say, Guns or U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings.

(NB; about the only “publications” I still more-or-less trust, and I’m not so sure about USNIP any more.)

Not to mention watching the “sheep” being savaged by the “privileged” groups (i.e. gang bangers and etc.), and getting off on the bloodshed like patricians in the Roman coliseum.

        clear ether

  • Thanks Dad say, such this

  • Pamela

Er Chris, I thought they were in Venice.
The view from the room is not E. M. Forster approved.

    • Chris Muir

      They’re on the way back!

  • John

    40% more?
Does that include the documentation on what changes were made?
If not, and any modified system fails, we could be looking at one heckuva lawsuit.
OTOH the original programming has to be (?) backed up somewhere.

  • WayneM

Tis easier to ask forgiveness after than seek permission before…

  • Soooooo, what’s the problem with better?

    • JSStryker

There was an outright lie in that article “which he bought online without a background check.”
