From my perspective, the word “sexist” is only derogatory if you think the sexes are required to be the same.

If it’s true, is it sexist?
At least Jo takes it as the compliment that it is.

(and for the second day, is that Sam or Skye beside Jo?)

Still Skye, of course. You can tell by the noses.

Hot and cold, can make specific parts warm and comfortable, and instantly have feet of ice. And also bloorp on a whim from Jo to Joe anytime, to “research the reactions”. Better never let her watch The Crying Game.

As defined by our betters on the Left (who, for some reason, get to define the English language) all their isms and phobias – Sexism, Racism, Homophobia, Islamophobia etc etc etc – are things that Do Not Even Exist in the real world. Which is exactly why they want us to doublethinkungood our minds about them.

They don’t get to define our language or our culture or our God-given attributes unless we let ‘em.

Hence, damn right Travis is being sexist to acknowledge all of that. We need to firmly -and militantly when needed- assert and affirm ourselves much more often than we do, and especially in the face of leftist appropriation and expropriation of it.

Come and take my language from my cold dead lips, bytches!

And speaking of that kind of militant resistance, R.I.P. Clint Eastwood. Moving on to make the day of those in the hereafter.

So parts of Palm Beach and Martin counties are now under mandatory evacuation, which includes Mar-a-Lago which is reportedly a steel and concrete colossus with three feet thick walls. But like they did to Dubya’s ranch, electronic security has been significantly upgraded in certain areas with likely at least one SKIF suitable for Presidential business. Thus I doubt it will be abandoned, someone’s gotta keep those Chinese spies from bugging the place and rummaging through Melania’s wardrobe.

South Carolina has already started evacuation of coastal areas from Beaufort to Myrtle Beach. I-26 has had all lanes made Northbound effective Noon today from Charleston to Columbia. I-95 still open both ways. My State Guard S&R team is on standby, waiting for a deployment destination, but that probably won’t happen until Dorian starts moving North.

Not sure of the construction details, but the old cereal gal and her EF Hutton hubby no doubt went first class for the time. No doubt MaL will be fine, thanks to its current owner doing with it what the US government and the state couldn’t do, bringing back its glory.

Wasn’t always that way. Essentially abandoned in the late sixties, my buddies and I accessed the beach on our dirtbikes at the county park just north and camped right in front of it on the beach one dark night -must have been ’69 or ’70- getting the shit scared out of us when giant sea turtles came lumbering up to their nests in the grassline to lay their eggs; we thought the cops were attacking us! Anyway, back then several of the old mansions including Mar a Lago had tunnels from the beach under the oceanfront road and onto the main property, we went through there and explored a bit but didn’t vandalize it or anything; not who we were.

The old caretaker has been there right through other storms, and while they’ve had some external damage he says never breaching the interior; it will be fine and whatever damage it does sustain will be handled expeditiously, as will the necessary involvement of his admin in the rest of the state and points north recuperating.

Careful Travis with the laying on of hands by Jo. I don’t think spiritual Ecstasy will be at hand, let alone atonement. Tho’ there are many in politics that need and must atone for their profane excesses.

It’s becoming accepted, as explored in Freefall, that Three Laws would be disastrous for humans. “A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.” The human concept of acceptable risk is hard to quantify. Three Laws robots would limit your red meat intake and keep you from riding motorcycles.

Three Laws robots would also be effective gun banners. Robots would defend you so guns are not necessary. You having a gun makes it more likely you or another human will be injured by a gun. There would be a centralized control structure for system updates, the command can be given to neutralize all firearms immediately, perhaps covertly so owners don’t notice. Instant utopian nightmare.

Please go back to your Asimov Robot stories and KEEP READING until you find the conversation where R. Daneel and his friend discuss the ‘Zeroth” law. It is actually R. Daneel’s discovery.
I fixes the problem you cite and nullifies the whole premise of Will Smith’s “I Robot” movie.

“Please go back to your Asimov Robot stories”

I have no idea where my few issues of Issac Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine are currently, and F&SF and Omni were read in the school library. Books were expensive, and Dune and the Foundation series was about as “philosophical” as I got. Plus the Stainless Steel Rat books were always a good read.

And we’ve had decades since of experience with programs and programming and “unintended consequences” to know how difficult Three Laws would be to code and implement. The relevance of those stories to the robots and possible AI’s that are arising is limited.
