Day By Day

Well a chopper is cooler than a crotch rocket, try to avoid the rice burners if you can afford American. Wear the helmet, helps you be a better organ donor.

    • JTC

Well I guess the case could be made that crotch rockets are the new chopper, although Easy Rider types would be shocked by them.

Pretty hard to avoid the Japs in that realm though. So what then, Buell? I mean Harley shut them down and they reopened independent and shut down again, pretty badass bikes but hard to find not ragged out. You do still have Ducati that has beat back the ricers on the track pretty well, don’t see them that much on the road and they’re Italian anyway. And the Trumpy? Meh. Brit for one thing and they just never have caught up.

What’s weird is that the American made Lightning is right now considered the fastest bike in the world, and the damn thing is coal-fired electric. Shocker (heh). Good luck with finding and especially affording one of those and I wouldn’t if I could.

So yeah, hard to avoid a Honkawsuzyam if you want to go stupid fast on a two-sheeler, just be sure your insurance is paid up.

Unless you know of something I don’t?

      • JTC

two-wheeler…don’t know wtf a two-sheeler is, sounds dangerous though. 😀

      • kadaka

So would you rather see topless Jan leaning forward and holding on tight, or leaning back and enjoying the cruise?

        • JTC

Great bikerbitch either way, but you did say crotch rocket and she would only lean back once on one of those. Of course her forward-leaning on a CR would probably have a limited life cycle (as it were) also.

So yeah, cruiser not crotch rocket. Still the best bet is a Jap unfortunately, I’ve ridden since I was eight and owned several Harleys over the years, but I fell out of lust with HD a year or so ago when they done what they done.

          • JJ cooper

What did they done??? I have always lusted after a Harley.

    • Kafiroon

      Definition of “cool” is individual.
When I rode: it was very fast, could almost lay on it’s side to corner, also fast, and didn’t leak oil.
      Yeah Crotch Rocket.
The mental image of a real hotty like Jan laying forward over the tank and the vision from further back on the seat…
      Never Mind.

But the dirt bike; remember the song that applied to the girls I gave a ride to as a warm up…
      Beach Boys: Good vibs.

  • WayneM

Is it just me or is the annual fundraiser going a bit slower this year? I’ve already throw in some loot… Come on, everyone… dig under the couch cushions and find a bit of lucre to keep the show rolling. We all appreciate what Chris brings to us… time to return the favour.

    • Too Tall

To my fellow patrons and patronesses of the arts:

We are wasting some mighty fine weather at the ol’ swimming hole.

We would be Philistines to let this fundraiser drag out until it was too cold to go swimming.

    • GWB

I dropped my 2 bits in the kitty at the end of last week.

    • MasterDiver

Had some unexpected house expenses, which should be resolved by the end of the month. No matter what I’ll be putting something in the kitty.

      Zar Belk!

    • PaulS

Well, we eventually overshoot it a little each year and create a larger target, I think, could be wrong. 😉

    • Toxic Deplorable B Woodman

      (in Scotty’s Highland brogue)
I’ve given her all I’ve got, Captain, I canna give ana moore.

  • Punta Gorda

Ssd’s o I take it that he is unfamiliar with Jo’s hardware… wait till she hands him a beer.

    • Too Tall

At least it will be ice cold. No warm beer from Jo.

  • Toxic Deplorable B Woodman

Travis IS aware of Jo’s origins, isn’t he?

  • Dread

Jan’s a little more tban “half way”. Nice!! Got a couple paydays comung up this week for some contract work. Hopefully I’ll be able to make a set aside for a disbursement to the cause.

  • Pecan Scandi

That’s Arnie, is it? Looks more like Phil Colson.

    • Pecan Scandi

      not Arnie…..sheesh

  • Buck

Leaning forward and holding on tight – sounds like a Ducati. But I think Ahnold is
    referring to a helicopter.

    • kadaka

I knew that, but, which looked better, Arnold on Harley in T2, or Arnold in the copter/jet in The Sixth Day?

    • JTC

Little choppah word play Buck. I referenced the Dukes upthread, nice bikes, strong on the track but as I said you don’t see many on the road and there’s a reason for that…plus still furrin and from a marginally commie state at that. Al things considered, they really can’t keep up with the Japs.

  • Buck

I knew that. Oversteer to one rider is simply a nimble machine to another.
    Psychology determines cool.

  • kadaka

This day of the week ends in “y” therefore a Democrat…

‘Completely untrue’: Dianne Feinstein says AR-15s ‘have only one purpose’ (and she’s lying about it)

For the mental exercise on the weekend I priced out a build, function over flash, followed some whims on what’s available. Against the propaganda and with some light lathe work, colorful wood laminate furniture and sling swivels, with a straight taper 22″ stainless barrel, hunting scope, and sporter upper, is far from a splurge. I’m highly tempted for just the STFU factor.

    • JTC

Sounds right purty. Post a pic here when complete.

Send one to Dianne just for fun too.

And I encourage all here who are so inclined to pick up a couple or five decent lowers while they are cheap. There will be another bubble over the next year or so; whether you build them out or flip them you will be glad you did.

        • JTC

          Parts is parts. Except…

Let’s just say, it’s all about the numbers baby.

  • I have already contributed as well. Worth every penny. As for AR’s, very useful system. And there are companies out there that make gorgeous wood furniture if you don’t want black zytel.
