Had “progressives” recognized long ago what Skye is discovering now, that charity does indeed begin at home, they wouldn’t have felt the need to try to cater to all the splintering of society that they themselves caused, destroying it and themselves in the process.

    • eon

They’re aware of it, but opposed to it. they oppose anything which does not serve the end of giving themselves unlimited power over everyone and everything else.

The progressive philosophy is summed up by that old T-shirt that said “We’ll All Get Along A Lot Better As Soon As You Realize That I Am God”.

And yes, this is why they hate Christians. If you believe that you are a god, you don’t want somebody else telling you that there’s one bigger than you.

Anymore than you want anyone else being able to tell you “no”.

Key part was the last part, that in their quest to divide and conquer they failed to recognize the need to see after their own, ultimately destroying themselves. Self-anointed gods always do.

They are recognizing it now, too late. The hope is that like Skye, many of those they divided will recognize it in time.

        • JTC

OTOH, as detailed in the link below some of the self-anointed do indeed see after their own. But it ultimately will still destroy them, here or hereafter. The real God will have his vengeance on those who would pretend to be Him.

      • True, Progressives (incremental authoritarians) have been systematically targeting the nuclear family for destruction for well over a hundred years. Woodrow Wilson wrote about the need to make “the son as unlike the father as possible”. The Hitler Youth were a result of this kind of thinking. Public schools serve this purpose in America today, according to the Wilson vision. Every communist revolution has organized youth movements. Their ultimate fantasy has been depicted in science fiction many times; regular people (“the masses”) are effectively sterilized, while the government clones or otherwise produces and breeds all new humans as necessary, like cattle (Eugenics).

And also yes, it’s a war between two factions; the alliance of satan, which seeks to replace God’s law, dupes humans into believing in an immortal soul, fool people into believing that they’re evolving (toward an eventual, de facto godhood – also depicted frequently in science fiction) among other things, verses the alliance of Jesus Christ. The satan alliance promises an eventual glorious and eternal, material, Earthly kingdom (the pharisees also imagined such), and the other promises a resurrected, redeemed humanity (for the repentant) under a heavenly kingdom.

        • JTC

An immortal soul, as the famous passage of John tells us God promises for His faithful, and an alliance with Jesus Christ that promises a resurrected, redeemed humanity (for the repentant) do not seem at all incongruous to me when we accept that we have no earthly idea what the form of a heavenly kingdom will be.

          • The wages of sin is death. Thus, we are all doomed to die, meaning dead and gone. The Bible is quite clear regarding the state of the dead. We don’t have to imagine or speculate. The only hope for eternal life is through the acceptance of the atoning sacrifice of Christ.

The satanists, “spiritists”, Catholics, et al, tell us something completely different. They tell us that our souls are immortal, meaning we can’t be killed, that our souls will continue regardless of our allegiance. This is entirely at a odds with the Bible.

  • WayneM

To paraphrase Dr Jordan Peterson, those who are pushing identity politics and intersectionality haven’t thought the premise through. Mathematically, the greater the number of parameters in the progressive stack, the sooner to reach the ultimate conclusion that each individual is unique and deserving of being recognized as such.

He was more articulate and gave a better explanation but I hope y’all get the idea.

    • John

@WayneM Which is the core difference between the European Enlightenment and the Scottish Enlightenment.
The realization that, politically, the individual is indivisible and thus is the only agency that can have Rights. This is the key difference between those who push any socialist agenda and the establishment of an orderly society that is not, in Thomas Hobbs words, “in a war of all against all”.

      • kadaka

However like how Science keeps finding things are indivisible until they find out they do have smaller pieces, it can be argued that individuals have states of mind that should preclude the exercising of certain Rights. Lord knows people wish they could ban drunk social media posting. Voting is a solemn duty, worthy of a sobriety check. But should guns have a built-in breathalyzer, one quick puff to unlock?

        • Henry

Sure… as long as politicians’ bodyguards and cops beta test them for us for about 20 years. Then… “we’ll see.”

  • NotYetInACamp

We all used to be Americans. Proud Americans.

Now identity has been demanded and thrust upon us all..

How about those Palestinian and Sharia following aliens tossing them flaming faggots off of the highest place as Sharia demands. Then stoning them.
Kind of a crash at the intersection-ality. An over catering.

When I was a kid we did not lock our doors until after I came home from university.
My classmate and, as he called himself as an adult, ‘flaming faggot’ friend since kindergarten, was beaten by four sixth graders for being a fag. I was told about the incident at the other end of the school property, so, of course, I had to defend my defenseless friend. I found the miscreants and told them that you like to beat up one fourth grade kid with four attackers. I’m another fourth grader. Let’s go. They tried. I beat the holy snot out of them and had two crawling away in pain and the other two ran after I beat them senseless and knocked them down. The future interior designer was never bothered like that at the school again. He passed during the first AIDS wave. His mother was heartbroken.

What is it about our humanity that unites us? Not how do we create more divisions that set us against each other.

The result of the takers taking and the producers being damaged and robbed of their accumulated work assets is too much of the history of mankind.
How can we behave like a family is supposed to, rather than with sociopaths taking what others do not owe them?
How do we end the plan that has despoiled so much of the earth and is well on the way of ending the only group that can end its evil ways, us, the Western Civilization and other respectful civilizations. I suppose that the ability for many to not take others stuff in those civilizations, and to accumulate wealth mainly of people’s responsibility. And, of cities where it is safe to accumulate work effort and for people of all genders and ages to walk safely at any time of the day or night is now being intentionally destroyed. Though the groups may not be “white” (Really a meaningless word here), it is the quality that they call ‘white-ness’ that the haters and intersectinalists actually desire, but also desire to destroy.
Whiteness is the product of years of war against it and evil attacking. Despite continual attacks from Islam since the 7th Century, and hordes crashing over Europe at various time, whiteness evolved and decided that enough was enough and ended slavery almost the world over. Then, despite opposition and much failure, attempted to devise peace against the plots of manipulators playing them as a game.

Even the family has been intentionally stressed to almost destruction so that these Democrats now mostly remember it as what they miss now, yet do not usually experience it.

One person can personally effect the thinking of 90 million Democrats. It can be for good or evil as we have all witnessed.
Break the catered parties up, Skye. Have them all over the country, and each place has to provide the catering.
Copy President Trump’s general actions. (Like she could.) Lead them back.

    • JJ cooper

Sir, I applaud your defense of your fourth grade friend. I entered the world of theater as I entered my teens and was 16 or 17 before I became aware that the people I admired and hoped to emulate were “perverted”. I thank my superior brain power which allowed me to brush off this stupidity, but I was never able to convince anyone else of his/her wrong minded assumptions. Thank G-d for the many years of friendship and love, that I enjoyed and they never could.
      JJC
ps I have been married for nearly 64 years so it is easy to see that the “perversion” is NOT transferable!

      • NotYetInACamp

        🙂

    • Epador

I love reading your comments. This one resonated.

  • JimK

To cater is to pander. The Democrap Way.

    • JTC

To “cater” is to divide Americans from one another, destroy the ones that are a threat to them, and enslave those whose support they catered to (bought).

  • Fronk!

Today’s ‘toon is so poignant it hurts…

  • Pamela

They want to be treated like the Satraps of old not caring about all the work and money it takes to do so. As long as the butchers bill and the soy products are paid by the sweat of others, so be it. They have never turned the soil, raised and harvested the grains. They are the locust swarms.

  • JTC

Enjoying the spoils of their divide and conquer agenda, these demigods apparently don’t feel the need to practice what they preach…remember when Mike O said that we all have to give up some of our pie so others can have a slice? Not their pie though; like the Kennedy clan they emulate, they want to keep their pie and yours:

Kind of a good thing though…it signals that a new Zero kingdom is unlikely. Cheap price to pay when you think about what that would have cost us.

    Chris,

Is non-snooty (truly!) helpful criticism OK? If no, then please delete and accept my apology. If yes, then . . .

When I read today’s strip, I had trouble understanding it at first, because hyphens were used instead of dashes.

    “most-being” and “out-you”

    will be better as

    “most—being” and “out—you”

    https://getitwriteonline.com/articles/en-dashes-em-dashes

hyphens: “The hyphen is . . . used most commonly to combine words (making compounds such as “well-being” and “advanced-level,” for example) and to separate numbers that are not inclusive (phone numbers and Social Security numbers, for example).”

em-dash: “We use the em dash to create a strong break in the structure of a sentence. Dashes can be used in pairs like parentheses—that is, to enclose a word, or a phrase, or a clause (as we’ve done here)—or they can be used alone to detach one end of a sentence from the main body.”

You have strong characters, with strong language and ideas, so the strong dash is what is needed to make their dialogue come alive on the first reading, IMHO.

    FWIW.

Please keep the strip coming, regardless, and thank you for it.

    • JTC

@Bubba; true by the “rules”, but I find the three-dot method best to differentiate in the reader’s mind the tying together of words as with hypens and creating a separation as with dashes…YMMV.

    • kadaka

For separating chunks in sentences for emphasis – as I’ve been known to do – a good readable combo is space-hyphen-space. The long dash you want is not on a standard US keyboard. But arguably, as often done, the “em dash” is best not used when a standard comma does the job.

      • John M.

Microsoft Word usually converts “space hyphen space” into an em-dash. Another way to enter an em-dash is to use the “Alt Plus” combination of Alt+0151. “Space hyphen hyphen space” will convert in some word processor programs also. I usually just type “space hyphen space” and let whatever software I’m using do what it wants. IN these days of arbitrarily shortening words and altered syntax and grammar, people seem to understand what I’m trying to say anyway…

Huh, local VA is going smokeless, the entire campus, by Oct 1. You might need an Uber to get to where you can smoke. VA Dept will have all VA medical centers smoke-free by year’s end. Wilkes-Barre VA is touting their smoking cessation and nicotine replacement programs, but they are also banning vaping, because some smoking-cessation and nicotine-replacement is more equal than others when done by the pharmaceutical-industrial complex.

I finally gave up smoking but if I had the option I’d’ve been vaping many years before. It’s almost like the VA tries to purposefully drive away veterans seeking help. Weird.

    • LowKey

Vaping is evil because it looks like smoking.
Worse yet people enjoy it, and we can’t be having that.

    • Punta Gorda

Naval Med has been diligently trying to make their level of care on par with the cesspool of the VA. I’ve been waiting a week for them to approve a med change prescribed by my doctor.

    • markm

“It’s almost like the VA tries to purposefully drive away veterans seeking help.”

It _is_ like that for _any_ government agency that’s been around for long enough for the founders to retire and be replaced by career bureaucrats. How else can they ensure the budget includes room for lots of administrators in fancy offices, if not by cutting back on the services actually delivered?

  • NotYetInACamp

Somewhat earlier in the NYTimes double secret editorial and news to push discussion planning and ordering the world what to do room.
K: “That big lie we pushed that Trump is a Russian controlled stooge hasn’t worked. What now?”
L: “How about we say that Trump is a Russian racist”
M: “No. No. That is too obvious.”
N: “There has t be many ideas that we can nullify that asshole’s effect. There has to be.
O: Let’s just go for the obvious. That always worked before.”
    P: “Like that P thing you organized. I don’t think so, O.”
Q: “We could say that he is a closet Queer. that has destroyed so many over history. He hires so many of them, too.”
R: ” That’s ridiculous . Have you seen his wives and girlfriends, plus the kids. That won’t work. It is obvious and basics time. It has worked so many times before that we have to go with the lie that he is a racist. That will convince enough so that we can steal the rest of the votes next election. We just have to steal more.”
S: ” You’re stepping on my ideas, R. But Racism it must be. No proof is needed. We can manufacture the truth. We have been doing so well at that since we got that Spanish-American War going so well. People can’t prove a negative. The attack sticks in so many eople’s minds. our base will love it. We were doing it before. Time to pivot back to the racist basics. We lie that Trump is a racist. We’re done here. Give the appropriate orders to the lackeys and start up the lie generators. We have a plan, people.”
T: “That’s it! You did it! The end!”

And so the New York Times has a developed a new direction for its Trump lies and efforts to destroy the nation. That was easy. Brought to you from a small typewriter and microphone in Grover’s Mill.
