That Jag ad has to rank right up with the “10:10” campaign as one of the all-time unbelievably bad marketing ideas in history.

And that EVJag’s shape was bad enough, looking rather like a countertop heat-sealer or electric knife sharpener.

    But in Lady Penelope Pink?

Neither Rolls-Royce or AnderFans were amused, I’m sure.

The point, if it had one, seemed to be that gai Martians were their new target market.

Most counterproductive ad I ever saw is the British one where the teacher pushes a big button that explodes the student into spraying bloody meat, any time there is one who doesn’t parrot her woke ideas.

That’s the 10:10 ad. It ends with Gillian Anderson being blown up for smoking a cigarette.

The thing is, it went clear through the ad agency, the NGO that paid for it, and both the British Labour and U.S. Democrat -Progressive Deep-Ecology True Believer governments and absolutely nobody involved thought there was anything wrong with it.

Which just shows you how much they loathe everybody who isn’t exactly like them. And how they believe that they should be allowed to decide who lives- or dies.

They are megalomaniacs with a bad case of nihilism piled on top of their narcissism.

Not the sort of people you want deciding things for you.

Right. Take a traditional marque like Jaguar, known for luxury and high performance cars, go all electric, price it like an Aston Martin, then market it to artsy-fartsy types that live on their friend’s couch.

      Brilliant!

I’m pretty sure that ad wouldn’t get someone who drives his Roller or his Aston to the Hamptons to buy a Jag, and I’m pretty sure the freaks they showed on the commercial take the bus wherever they go. I have a feeling that Jag won’t be around much longer and parts for mine are going to get harder to find.

Before retiring, I was the senior chauffeur at our limo/transportation company. The owners leased a ‘Jaguar SUV’ (two words that should NEVER be used together)…..I drove it once for a 10hr gig and the driver’s seat was without a doubt THE single most uncomfortable automotive seat I’ve ever encountered….and I’ve driven quite a few earlier model Jags that were the epitome of luxury! I have no idea what’s happened to their QC as of late, but they’re in trouble….and this EV just might be the death knell for a once fantastic car company! 🙁

Actually the PR fail of the 21st Century is Amelia, from the UK “anti-extremism” educational game called Pathways. The game, developed by SOUK in coordination with the Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, was designed to educate students about the dangers of online radicalization. The game’s primary antagonist, a teenage girl with purple hair named Amelia who held nationalist views, was intended as a cautionary figure. However, she was ironically embraced by online communities and became a viral meme, with users finding her “goth baddie” design and character more interesting and relatable than the non-binary protagonist, Charlie.
Now she’s all over YouTube, and clones have spread to other European countries. One example:

It was more than a game, it was a snitch. The program would flag any student that made the “wrong” decisions when Amelia expressed certain opinions and the teacher would know that he needed remedial re-education.

The U.S. only ended slavery within its borders.

The U.K. effectively ended slavery in the rest of the world, starting (decades before the U.S. Civil War) with the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Ironically, it’s practiced in Liberia, the country that was specifically purchased and set aside to repatriate all the (ex-)slaves who wished to leave the US after the Civil War. Its constitution was written with explicit guarantees that slavery would never be practiced there.

It is, to this date. They just use a different name for it.

This is nothing new. 31 years ago, the Smithsonian exhibited the forward section of the Enola Gay which had been restored in an exhibit on the dropping of The Bomb with surrounding commentary about how the War in the Pacific was a racist war on our part where Japan was trying to protect their unique identity. Veteran’s groups were outraged, and the Smithsonian finally took down the propaganda and just put a label on it, “Front Fuselage Enola Gay, Airplane That Dropped the First Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima.”

Alfred E. Neuman even did a piece on it on Nightline. First he had a spokesman from the American Legion on, followed by one of the educated idiots that approved the original exhibit. His closing observation infuriated me so much that I remember it to this day. He told the educated idiot propagandist that maybe this exhibit should be revisited when there won’t be any special interest groups to influence the telling of history.

Translation: Wait until all these old guys die off, then you can start lying about what they were fighting about.

Grok pulled the Smithsonian’s anti-white debacle into a concise answer.

In 2020, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) faced significant criticism over a graphic included in its online “Talking About Race” portal, specifically in a section titled “Whiteness.” The graphic, titled “Aspects and Assumptions of Whiteness and White Culture in the United States,” listed various traits and values as components of “white dominant culture” that have been normalized in American society. These included:

    – Emphasis on the nuclear family (father, mother, 2.3 children as the ideal unit).
    – Rugged individualism, self-reliance, and competition.
    – Objective, rational linear thinking; cause-and-effect relationships; quantitative emphasis.
    – Hard work as the key to success; work before play.
    – Respect for authority; decision-making by those in charge.
    – Adherence to rigid time schedules; planning for the future.
    – Protestant work ethic; majority rules in decision-making.
    – Protection of property and entitlements.
    – Politeness and being on time.

The graphic was adapted from a 1990 resource by diversity consultant Judith Katz and was intended to illustrate how certain cultural norms in the U.S. are rooted in historical European immigrant influences and have become standardized, often privileging whiteness. It was part of a broader educational effort to discuss systemic racism and encourage anti-racist practices.

Critics, including conservative commentators, politicians like Donald Trump Jr., and media outlets, labeled the graphic as anti-white propaganda or racist stereotyping. They argued that framing universally positive traits (e.g., hard work, rationality, politeness) as inherently “white” implied that non-white people lack these qualities, which could perpetuate harmful stereotypes against people of color. Some also saw it as an attack on American values or an example of “woke” overreach in public institutions. The controversy gained traction on social media and in opinion pieces, with accusations that it undermined traditional American culture.

In response to the backlash, the NMAAHC removed the chart from its website on July 16, 2020, and issued a statement acknowledging the error: “We have listened to public sentiment and have removed a chart that does not contribute to the productive discussion we had intended.” The museum emphasized that the portal was meant to foster constructive conversations about race, not to offend or divide. The rest of the “Whiteness” page remained online, including discussions of whiteness as a social construct and references to scholars like Robin DiAngelo and Ibram X. Kendi.

The incident resurfaced in political discourse, particularly during the 2024-2025 period under the Trump administration, which criticized the Smithsonian more broadly for exhibits perceived as anti-American or promoting “divisive” racial narratives. For instance, in August 2025, the White House highlighted this graphic as part of a list of “objectionable” content across Smithsonian museums, framing it as evidence of bias against white culture or traditional values.

Supporters of the original graphic argued it was not intended to demonize white people but to highlight how dominant cultural norms can marginalize other groups, drawing from academic work on systemic inequality. However, the museum’s swift removal suggests it recognized the framing as counterproductive.

If you’re referring to a different Smithsonian-related controversy or seeking more details on related topics (e.g., other exhibits or ongoing discussions), let me know for a deeper dive.

I remember when those traits were called the “Protestant Work Ethic,” and widely admired, because they produced a stable, prosperous society

One of the problems with the WokeFolk is that their philosophy forces them to label everything White as evil, regardless of how productive it is. Much like the TDS folk. Progressives are unable to judge a policy based on its results.

If the Smithsonian considers these "Bad Things" that marginalize other groups, perhaps they could publish a graphic that shows how:
    -Mindless violence
    -Spontaneous hysterics
    -Disregard for law and order
    -Mass looting
    -Smash and grab robbery gangs
    -Promiscuous sex
-Failure to support the children of promiscuous sex
    -Rampant drug use
-Profligate use of profanity and obscenity in language, music, and "art".
-Casual use of racial epithets to each other that is called "hate speech" if used by other ethnicities
-Muti-generational sloth and entitlement, expecting to be paid just for existing, and threatening to riot if their demands are not met

are in anyway indicators of a viable, vibrant culture.
