    Pointed question too.

To which she knows the answer…a rhetorical question.

The Soviet Union under Stalin took more casualties from and dealt more damage to Germany than the US did, but for entirely different reasons and with entirely different outcomes.

That comes from the Russians purging their top military leadership because of party affiliation.

‘Tis well to remember that the party of Herr Mustache was known by the acronym NSDAP. Translated into English (I forget the German), it means the National Socialist German Workers Party. Just like magnets, opposite poles attract and like poles repel – explaining why Hitler and Stalin were at such odds . . .

Let me see what I can dredge up from the old memory mud……
      NSDAP
      National Socialist Deutches Arbiter Parti
And the English translation is he same…
      National Socialist German Workers Party

I don’t remember how they got from that to “NAZI”.

After the Armistice, Corporal Hitler took a job with German military intelligence. They assigned him to infiltrate the DAP (Deutsche Arbeiterpartei = German Workers’ Party) and find out if they were planning a communist revolution or something. Hitler exceeded his instructions and became the leader of the party, so he could control what sort of revolution they intended…

“Workers Party” already implied some flavor of socialism, and “Deutsche” that it was national, but after taking over the DAP, Hitler added NS (Nationalsozialistische = National Socialist) to repeat the message. He wanted it _very_ clear: they were socialists, but they were German nationalists, not Bolshevik internationalists. Of course, calling Russian imperial Communism “internationalist” was as big a lie as their claims to equality, freedom, and prosperity, but Hitler wanted to make it very clear that he wasn’t with _them_.

By getting that message across, he implied that he would protect the German industrialists against the _bad_ kind of socialists*, and got them to fund the NSDAP. He really tried to deliver on that promise, but it worked out poorly – most of German industry bombed to rubble, and Berlin and eastern Germany dominated by Russian troops for 45 years,

*In reality, all socialists are bad, but when Hitler talked about the Big Lie, he was also describing himself.

My personnel theory (from the beginning) is that Biden took payoffs from both sides, and both sides thought he was an honest cop who would stay bought. So they both thought they had his backing for what they were going to do.

The thing I’ve heard about Russian confusion regarding America isn’t that our politicians can be bought. Their politicians EXPECT to be bought. It’s that our politicians, once bought, don’t STAY bought.

Personally, though, as a student of history, the only difference I see between NAZIs an Soviets is that the NAZIs tried to preserve their own troops, while the Soviets treated their own people like disposable tools.

Oh, and the Soviets killed more people than the NAZIs.

And Putin IS A SOVIET remnant.

I’d happily, eagerly, slot either group on sight. But, if you forced me to join one or the other, with no other alternative, slap that crooked cross on my sleeve and sent me east. Not because I love, like, can tolerate, or even don’t despise Bad Mustache Man, but because I REALLY HATE THE SOVIETS.

And that’s me coming from a country that WASN’T subjected to the holodomor. If I was Ukrainian?

Regardless of what sorts of crooked deals our crooked politicians have going with The Ukraine’s crooked politicians, anybody siding with Russia in this fight is on the wrong side.

Azov aren’t nazis. they’re vikings. to be a member of the azov battalion you have to be directly descended from the vikings that settled in ukraine.

they use runes, like their ancestors did. just because some failed austrain painter with a funny mustache liked runes too does not make them nazis.

Prigozhin from the Wagner group said flat out he did not see any nazis in ukraine..and he would know, being one himself. he had a giant nazi eagle tattooed across his back.

you know the russians label everyone who disagrees with hem as nazis, right? they labelled the israeli ambassador to russia a nazi for daring to ask why russia invades it’s neighbors.

is she going to ask putin about the 700,000 stolen ukrainian children, who have been adopted into russian families just the nazis did to the poles?

None of this explains other symbols like Black Sun, which are not simple runes, but are common to both German and Ukranian Nazis.

The Black Sun predates the NAZIs by some years as well, although there were future NAZIs all through it. Some call it a precursor to the NAZI ideology. Black Sun believed they were descendants of Hyperboreans, and a true master race. Look up Vrillians or Thulians. Mostly all the same guys.

Note, I’m not saying they weren’t bad people. I’m saying the Soviets were orders of magnitude worse. But we’re not allowed to call them on their crap because there were so many commies in the State Department and press, and later in the universities running cover for them.

I’m fairly familiar with the symbols used by actual Nazis, but hadn’t heard of the black sun. Apparently, it’s an ancient graphical pattern, but its main association with actual Nazis was the pattern Himmler had worked into the floor tiles in his castle. That is, _one_ Nazi chose it _to walk on_. That doesn’t make it a Nazi symbol!

Himmler was a member of the Black Sun Society prior to the formation of the NAZI party.

Black Sun was an Occult theology. It’s story is kind of fascinating.

I’m using them as villains in one of my novels, “Raiders of the Black Sun,” that takes place in an alternate history where there was no WWI, and therefore no WWII. Hitler never achieved the public stage and never amounted to more than a brauhaus blowhard.
