All of which makes The Dude a lucky stiff.
Agreed. Best kind of problem to have.
I wouldn’t classify that as a problem.
It can be hard on the furniture. In the immortal words of Damon Thomas: “They broke the bed.”
Michaeleen Flynn: “Homeric”
– “The Quiet Man”
On seeing Sean & Mary Kate’s wedding bed, or what was left of it.
I believe his fist expression was “Impetuous!”
We were giving an antique bed from the elderly relatives. It lasted our first year of marriage. Our second bed didn’t have any pads for the legs and we destroyed the finish on the hard wood flooring. The third bed was a massive king size which took up half the bedroom. Solid wood with cabinets and a mirrored headboard. It lasted longer than the marriage. There was a railing that was ripped off by the wife. It has to be repaired.
So what exactly is the issue? Seems healthy to me
Speaking of stiff, Government Motors announced their 4th quarter EV sales for 2021…26. Not 26,000 or even 2600, but 26. In his typical low-key cheeky manner, Elon Musk commented, “Room for improvement.” Heh.
Of course GM and it’s token female CEO did get the kiss of death…
“General Motors’ Q4 2021 results are definitely disappointing, and it is quite ironic considering that the company is being heavily promoted by the White House as a leader in the electric vehicle market. During a speech at the opening of GM’s Factory Zero, for example, US President Joe Biden patted GM CEO Mary Barra’s back, crediting her for leading the EV revolution. “You changed the whole story, Mary. You did, Mary. You electrified the entire automotive industry. I’m serious. You led, and it matters,” Biden noted.”
“1 in 5 electric vehicle owners in California switched back to gas because charging their cars is a hassle, research shows” https://www.businessinsider.com/electric-car-owners-switching-gas-charging-a-hassle-study-2021-4
We will not even bring up the rolling brown-outs or blackouts from electrical shortages vs. demand.
Wonder how many EVs spent 27 hours stranded on I-95? Inquiring minds want to know. They rest of us don’t care.
Per this WEB site, no matter how many their picture was bleak: https://www.windtaskforce.org/profiles/blog/show?id=4401701%3ABlogPost%3A232786&commentId=4401701%3AComment%3A232981
I can’t figure it out – are they pro-EV, or anti? Some of the comments about Climate Change seemed pretty “snarky,” too.
It appears to have been an issue, batteries running down while attempting to keep EV’s warm-ish
Government Motors must run like our congress. Losing money like water through a sieve.
Get Woke Go Broke is being pushed as a feature not a bug by Big Money.
If I had the money to spend I’d invest in a business that did nothing but identify Woke in corporations for the purpose of anti-investment.
Yep, it matters . . .to the tune (or should I say ‘toon) of a wopping sales record of 26 units. Gee, that’s a record that’ll be hard to beat. Let’s Go Mary will soon join Let’s Go Brandon, I can see it now.
The only place I see Mary going is the une.ployment line! I hope she wrote her “Three Letters” for her successor…
Is it me, or is “the media” on the verge of declaring anyone who supported the “Insurrection” ( = Trump voters) should be arrested and sent to the gas chambers? That’s the insinuation in their hysterical “Jan. 6 anniversary” threats I mean reports.
Meanwhile, Damon and Jan stay focused on what really matters, hopefully far from the Insanity : )
Be interesting to see them try. Just because all those people were unarmed at the rally, that don’t mean they didn’t have the capability.
It was an away game, so we were being polite. Come puffing the federal chest out on our home field, polite ain’t what they’re gonna remember.
They will call it a Capitol crime.
An interesting term considering that it was as much a crime _by_ the Capitol more than a crime _in_ the Capitol.
The J6 hysteria is intended to tar not only DJT but every supporter of his. And everyone not loudly on their side.
And yes, Damon, Jan, and everyone else need to remain focused on reality. Such as getting the political prisoners released, getting ahold of all the J6 video.
No gas for the gas Chambers, fortunately. It’s all electric now. (Oops!)
Wife mentioned a Half a million Tesla recall; I snarkily asked Are there a half million Teslas!?!? To which she replied, “apparently”. Touché babe, touché ! 😉
Apparently indeed “babe”! How many have been built and sold?
“More than any other electric vehicle manufacturer worldwide. Since 2009, Tesla has produced a total of 1.91 million vehicles. Tesla has manufactured 386,759 vehicles in the first two quarters of 2021 alone; revenue in Q1 + Q2 2021 was $22.35 billion…
Globally, Tesla’s vehicle deliveries reached a record 627,350 units in the first three quarters of 2021, up by over 16 percent when compared to sales for the full-year 2020. Concurrently, Tesla’s Model 3 has become the world’s best-selling plug-in electric vehicle model.”
There you have it. Nothing inherently wrong with EV’s, just with the shoved down our throat and thieving corrupt manner by which it has been and is being forced on us. The component (practical mobile power storage) that had been missing is being perfected by the pioneers of the New Industrial Revolution and the problems that still exist and limit their mass acceptance are being addressed and corrected, in between space exploration, worldwide off-grid communications, and even the real scourge of carbon emissions, all on the plate of the combined Franklin, Edison, and yes, Tesla of our time. Solar harvesting of power to then store and put to work is a maturing tech as well, and the harnessing and perfecting of old tech nuclear will meld with that, not to mention leaps and bounds of improvement in extraction of fossil fuels in the interim and also going forward. Why does one method of improving the lot of humanity while also minimizing impact on our planet have to preclude others, both proven and emerging? God our “leaders’ have proven themselves to be one-dimensional, corrupt as fuck, and totally disinterested in what they proclaim to be their mission; why can we as a people not see through and reject their greed?
Anyway. EV’s are here to stay and as they improve will be a larger part of our transportation needs. But just a part among others. The brilliance, confidence, competence, and willingness of the next gen of inventors will come as they see the successes of those like Musk who lead the way. It will not come because the zombie in chief has been directed to say false words and pat the backs of tokens and pretenders.
Next up will be the dismantling of the unfixable problematic tech of wind farms which are pushed and supported by more of that endless supply of your money to steal and pretense of accomplishments.
Onward, upward, and outward! Unless we are grounded by our elected and/or installed “leaders”.
Heh. Related to the above is the title of our ‘toon today, “TMI”.
Witness that gov has moved in the opposite direction re nuclear as the TMI-1 station was finally shut down in ’19 after onerous gov interference and strictly political failure to support it…clean, efficient production of power simply does not fit the agenda, just as the extraction and use of boundless and renewable natural gas…how can they exert complete control if you proles keep moving around?
What? Oh, they didn’t mean that TMI? Well, think about it, that acronym and the Pennsylvania island one are in fact inextricably intertwined with the intentional disconnect of what is possible and what is actually happening in our formerly Great Republic.
No Inherent problems?
I would not trust one to drive as far as your place and back without a recharge.
Nothing time, money, invention, and capitalism can’t handle! 🙂
I mean I won’t have one unless maybe they put one of those recorded vrooom! sounds in them like, I think it was Bimmer did, maybe Mustang too if my ragged memory serves…because even dinosaur powered engines and cabins were too damn quiet.
No I won’t really go there either, I’m too old to deal with that shit, can’t hardly function the damn iphone…plus, weren’t we promised Jetson-style magnetic flying cars by now? Or at least thorium reactor powered ones?
Shit too old to wait for those anymore too. Just have to stick to the F-150. What? They are going all-electric too with their damn Lightning? And getting a 30K premium over sticker for them? Lord save us from stupidity! What? You say my old-tech 2012 F-150 has a dang six-banger that spools up like a whistling diesel and makes more hp and torque and goes faster than a 5.0 but sounds like a damn Singer sewing machine at idle? OMG…
MAGAdittos, JJ: http://ace.mu.nu/archives/397254.php
How many are we now who get all this? Would be interesting to know.
Sad truth in that.
What does TMI mean?
See above…Three Mile Island.
TMI usually means Too Much Information.
Maureen O’Hara and John Wayne in “Quiet Man.” Oh my gosh that was a great movie and a great tie-in to this story line. Bed breaking. We can only be so lucky. On wind power – Dominion Power and Siemens-Gamesa are taking the investment seriously off of the Virginia coast. Oorstadt is involved. If they can make it work in the North Sea and the Scandinavian countries, can we make it work in the U.S.? Time will tell. Meanwhile, Jan is a total babe and I’d vote for her in 2024.
Sounds like two companies I’d pull out of.
The Bird Cuisinarts are unreliable and environmentally hard to dispose of.
We’ve had the elements of 4th Generation nuclear technology for decades and are only now allowing it to develop?
A technology capable of giving us both cheap reliable power _and_ dispose of all that Cold War nuclear waste being suppressed is just another flag on the deep corruption of a Federal Government that thrives on Solyndra boondoggles designed to rip off the public, both legitimate investors and the taxpayers (and I include us folk who suffer from the Federal Reserve’s inflation ripoff program as taxpayers).
Speaking of the Solyndra boondoggle reminds me: Ever note that many of these “Pie in the Sky” schemes are run by demorats that close doors as soon as they reap the government grants.
Ask NotYet about Haiti and its saviors at the Clinton Foundation…
what’s up w the revolting *thumb*-size nips, muir?
Must be a Fauci-free zone: Covid-19 medicine kits’ mass distribution begins in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: Kit includes Azithromycin, Ivermectin, Vitamin D3, Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin B complex and paracetamol tablets
What weight lubricant …
I drive a 2018 Nissan Leaf because I’m cheap. I got a killer deal plus Nissan threw in 0% financing for Six years plus all you good folks gave me a $7500 federal tax credit and the peoples democratic republic of Washington waved the 10% sales tax.
It’s built by non union (oh the horrors!) workers in Tennessee and after almost 4 years and 22,000 miles it has never been back to the dealer. Plus there are no squeaks or rattles.
I had a 220 plug installed in my garage so it takes 5 hours to change from empty (although I’ve never run it to empty) and gets 150 mile range. I tell people it’s like driving my mobile phone. Plug it in and forget about it – no service no fluids except windshield washer and a tire rotation ever 7500 miles. Plus with regen braking the brakes last forever. Electricity is cheap her in the NW while gas prices continue to soar.
Of course we have an internal combustion engine car for the longer trips but for everything else we take the Leaf.
It’s a great car especially for retirees like us.
It’s also fun to imagine Prius drivers heads exploding when they see an NRA sticker (life member) on the back along with the Marine Corps logo. ☺️
I am with the others here about the bozos shoving them down our throats! The commies in our legislature will pass a law in the upcoming session that will outlaw all internal combustion engine cars starting in 2030. But , but you can keep your ‘ICE’ car ( where have we heard that before?) you just won’t be able to sell it since the buyer can’t register it in the state.
We, like many others are preparing to leave.
