So sad that that turkey gave its life so it could be treated like this.

We are told by scientists that anthropogenic climate change is real and the conversion of organic matter to coal takes extreme pressure and millions of years. Clearly science is wrong.

Or else a little more heat and pressure and they’d have a turkey composed of raw industrial-grade diamond.

Sam should contract Travis to take care of such chores as turkey prep. I’ll bet he knows the secret of how to smoke a turkey without turning it into jerky…

Travis deserves some time off, and was with Suzy stuffing the turkey together.

What are all you grateful for this year? I’m now so old I remember Candice Bergen shilling for Sprint’s new 5¢ per minute long distance plan, back when a nickel was real money so people saved by writing letters. We also used to have freezing weather and snow in November before global warming took over.

I have so much to be grateful for that it’s almost overwhelming.

This old dawg got married to a beautiful Texan lady. We built a house together in Texas as part of our medium-term plan to be “snowbirds” living in Canada during the summer and Texas in the winter. We took possession in September and it’s amazing.

I will be retiring early next year… full pension, still young enough to be able to enjoy life with my new wife… I don’t know if I’ll pick up a few contracts or anything like that afterward… or maybe just wrench on an old motorcycle or somesuch… plant a garden… live simply…

You are correct NYIAC. However, at first I was hoping that the bird was being served post-reentry.

The little one has not yet learned discretion in facial expressions. Love that pout. 🙂

Everyone loved the turkey at my place. And the ham. And the pot roast. And the dressing and gravy (giblets, FTW!).
They even liked the fermented carrots (with lots of onion, garlic, horseradish and ginger in the ferment).
They loved the homemade hard cider.

We gave thanks heartily, since we couldn’t have afforded to put anything on the table a month ago. God does provide.

I hope you all had a joyous day.
    Thank you for DbD, Chris.

    Sam uses tools.
Just because a smoke wrench works, does not
mean you should cook with it.

Speaking of smoke wrenches, I do remember when a tiny bit of C4 went a long way in heating up a can of C Rats or a canteen cup of water for coffee.

Facial expressions among the young are in this case to be forgiven and congratulated…there are many phases and elements in life’s lessons of self-preservation, good job kids! And good job by Red of testing them, she knew they would not be eating that charcoal FKAAT and I’m sure the other Red (Travis) had a proper-done deep-fried bird ready out by the barn and out of Sam’s reach and trajectory.

Great family Thanksgiving here in central Fla even with the 80F weather…hope the same was had by all. Time for a leftover plate pretty soon…

Had a wonderful T’day yesterday. About a dozen family and related hangers-on attended. Deep fried turkey, home made rolls, cranberry salad, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc, etc. Opened the table with all three extra leaves.
Much to be thankful for this year.
BTW, who ordered the 6″ of white frozen “global warming” that covered the ground and street? I’ve lived here over 20 years, and I don’t recall snow at Thanksgiving.
    Solar minimum!

Let ’em starve. When they get good and hungry, THEN tell them the story of the first Thanksgiving and WHY we celebrate. Unfortunately in this day and age, people have forgotten why we do certain things. They need to be reminded.

Time to ban all assault knives with high capacity scabbards. And who needs a knife that can cut faster than 20 feet/sec anyway? No word yet if the concentrated soy phytoestrogens in tofurkey were implicated in the incidents or if it was the slower internet from Black Friday searching and sharing.

My experiment with cooking two 18 pound turkeys on a rotisserie over coals came out with much less carbon than Sam’s. Could be it’s the rotation?
Maybe she needs to add a gyroscope when stuffing her bird?
