Heart attack would be my guess. When my dad died, he did the same thing. He stiffened out and mashed the gas peddle to the floor. fortunately for my mother and sister, he also mashed the brake pedal to the floor, so they ended up in a ditch instead of flying into a river or something.
I don’t think about that much anymore. The inoperable heart condition that killed him is outpatient surgery these days.

Sam and Elon need to open comms with each other, so Elon can tell Sam when he’s having a launch, and PLEASE don’t cook a turkey.
And visa versa, when Sam’s cooking a turkey, that tells Elon when NOT to launch a rocket.
Though it may seem today that there’s precious little to give thanks for out there, under the covers the opposite may soon prove to be true. Faith, 2024.
I’m thankful for my wife and son, for my sister and my brother, all my extended family. I’m 72 and still Kicking (if not as high as when I was younger)
Anything else may be important but is still secondary.
Just the wife and I, and even if we just made a small bird, at our age we would be eating turkey for a month. So we plan have dinner at a local restaurant. That way we support a local small business, let someone else do the cooking, and leave a nice holiday tip for the folks working this Thanksgiving.

We already had Thanksgiving up here last month, appropriate since we started having them earlier than y’all (first one was likely in 1541, first big one written about was 1605).
We did a frozen turkey roll that was just right for the two of us with lots left over for a couple of days more but I’m thinking more along the lines of two turkey TV-dinners for xmas š
When I was on ships, my late wife and I would put on a Thanksgiving feed for all the junior officers who didnāt/couldnāt be at home. Big turkey, football, beer, etc. The first time I was on shore duty, we got up early, cooked a turkey, sides, etc., for 4-5 hours, sat down and ate for 30 mins, just us two, and then cleaned up for 45 mins. Habits are hard to break and we never cooked a whole turkey again!

Family coming by later today. Bird just went in the oven. Pumpkin pie and all the other fixin’s. Looking forward to having all three grandkids here again. Kind of dreading Christmas though. With the three girls (8, 5, and 2) it will be really wild. Afraid my wild days are years in the past. Oh well, it’ll be fun, anyway you look at it.
Thankful that we still have the semblance of the Republic, and my wife and kids are healthy. Here’s to all Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen standing watch on the wall so we can sleep safe in our beds.
Don’t forget the Cops, Firefighters, Paramedics, Hospital Staff, Prison workers and everyone else who works 24/7, including help desk workers for AAA, CAA, etc. who get busier on holidays…and don’t forget the poor overloaded ‘Butterball Hotline’ operators who are in for their second worst day of the year š

Preparing turkeys now. Can’t tell if it is sweet smelling rocket fuel or high octane brining solution.
