Remember that those pyramids were built by slave labour, as with most things in the ME sturdier than a goatskin tent, and the canal may as well have been, something like 20,000 people died building it during the French attempts and another 5,000+ after the US took the project over.

While I like Larry Niven’s take on technology, I think his views on the malleability of human nature leave much to be desired.
