Wait, you are saying that Lincoln destroyed the order of our loyalty? My loyalty is God first, family, and then country (state).

I’m wondering how intentional that “leak” was. If it was intentional, was it also intentional to make it seem like such a close vote margin to deliberately drum up the drum beaters in hopes of sparking an out of control riot?

As such, it makes sense to use the distinct terms for these entities. While general balance of power and attitudes shifts gradually, the natural lines of separation are legal discontinuities (aka coups and revolutions).
Thus, using Moldbug’s count, USA of 2000s was the (late-stage) Fourth Republic (the New Deal regime).

I guess it should be counted as Fifth already? US Supreme Court conceding that it’s the power of Informally Official Press to announce who the new President is… looks like a big enough step, even if de facto it only accepts the changes that already happened long ago.

Exactly! Well done! The North ‘freed the slaves’ so all Americans would become slaves of centralised DC. (Of course, freeing the slaves was never the intention of the War; the intention was fulfilled with the 16th and 17th Amendments.)

You do realize the 16th and 17th Amendments were passed by Woodrow Wilson, yes? As in, 50 years later under a different administration?

Saying they’re the same is nonsensical when you realize Wilson was a Lost Causer and wanted to be more like Jefferson Davis, who didn’t have annoying things like “Checks and Balances” to worry about.

I have to disagree with this one. We were a union of separate states and the Civil War created a whole nation. But it was the South and the democrats who demeaned the citizens to the last place.

Democrats not only treated Blacks as subhuman but also the poor white were nothing but “trash”. It was the North with their almost fairy tale stories of the young person having a poor job at the beginning but through hard work would rise above. The industrial north was the land of opportunity.

The Civil War was ALL about slavery. It was the binding thought through the entire four years. The North fought to end slavery. The South fought for states right to continue slavery.

Read the Declarations of Secession from five states. Slavery is written over and over.

An important part and scary as it is, why do the democrat want open borders? Sex trafficers, poor desperate people willing to work for pennies and drugs to control the people. The evil dems haven’t change one bit.

Shooter, please read the links at DogByte downthread by Walter Williams, for the truth that was hidden from you your whole life, first in the Leftist indoctrination centers and then by the cultural stranglehold of Leftists on the information system ever since.

Lincoln aka the First Rino, was the original Leftist, and pioneered the pretense of concern and the evil use of the welfare of helpless people to attain what he really wanted, to “follow the money” as I always say and as Williams clearly explains in his piece.

As to that “northern industrial land of opportunity” you mention, it certainly was, but not for the freed slaves, and the result of that flood into the northern cities resulted in the cesspools they are today; hard to argue that fact. But that was irrelevant to Lincoln too, as apparently northern industry at that point in history paled compared to the *two thirds* of all federal revenue being generated at the time by Southern ports.

Money/Control. Control/Money. That was the Rino prize that apparently justified the genocidal war and murder of 600,000 of his own people.

Read the “Declarations of Secession? Only six states wrote one. One state just said we’re out of here. The rest didn’t bother.

The five states tell you everything you want to know. Democrats don’t need to be supported on this one.

So, carried forward to our dire situation now, should the states that want to be free of the evil leftists all do a manifesto of their reasons? Or are the reasons so obvious and unavoidable as to reasoning…and urgent?

Yeah it was like that back then too. The Constitution requires free men to throw off crooked goverment, form a new alliance.

The R’s and D’s were mostly irrelevant then of course, but as to who the Democrat in charge was and is? That would be First Rino Lincoln then, and unknown now. Probably don’t want to dawdle with too much detail as we prepare for what may very well be bloody war making even the one back then seem tame.

The 17th Amendment radically changed the representation of the States at the federal level.

It was the beginning of the demise of our Republic.

Instead of one popularity contest for representatives, we have two. Both House and Senate are popularity contests instead of States appointing their Senators through the State legislators.

Indeed. The Seventeenth Amendment should be repealed with the proviso that the state legislatures have the sole power to elect their US Senators, not the electorate. It was some states that started popular election of their Senators prior to the Seventeeth that triggered the cascade and hence, the Seventeenth Amendment.

The other thing on the list is an amendment that overturns the elements Reynolds vs Sims and Baker vs Carr that created tyranny of the majority at the state level.

In the end the problem is not “popular election” but the Party System being foisted on the ballot.
If it were illegal to name party affiliation on the ballots the voter would actually have to know who he/she was voting for instead of a tribe.
Elimination of party affiliation on the ballots would mean, effectively, randomizing the votes of the uninformed into white noise, leaving those who actually know what they are voting for to make the decisions and not the Party Kingmakers who dictate who goes on the ballot.

The late, great economics professor Dr. Walter Williams penned these two insightful columns about the “US Civil War” and historical ignorance. After reading these two columns, I have viewed Lincoln in a much different light.

Dr. Williams, a black conservative/libertarian who frequently guest hosted on The Rush Limbaugh Show, more accurately describes the “Civil War” as a second Revolution by the South, that ultimately failed. But the writing of history goes to the victors, as is commonly said.

These are well worth the read and tie directly into what Zed is talking about in these panels.

      The synopsis…

“The Kennedy brothers dispel many commonly held beliefs about the Civil War. Their well-researched arguments demonstrate the South’s many legitimate complaints during the antebellum period, including unfair taxation and unequal constitutional rights. The victorious North rewrote history to justify its invasion of the South, WHICH WAS LEGALLY AND CULTURALLY A SEPARATE, INDEPENDENT COUNTRY. Furthermore, the Kennedys explain how lingering myths about the Civil War are still being used AND TAUGHT IN THE NATION’S INDOCTRINATION CENTERS to discredit and exploit former Confederate states.”

The authors’ bold ideas and rigorous documentation will change the way readers think about the Civil War. (But only the ones willing to confuse what they “know” and have been force-fed their whole lives, with actual facts.)

Unfair taxation and constitutional rights? At a time when Americans didn’t pay taxes and were funded by tariffs on foreign companies? Interesting.

Or how about the fact that the Slave States had no problems violating treaties, breaking promises, and using mob violence to get their way? If Lincoln had simply rolled over like today’s RINOs we wouldn’t have a country.

The lost cause is a postwar fabrication by leftists. Simping on its behalf doesn’t do our side any favors.

The secessionist side was the one fighting for federal supremacy, specifically with the fugitive slave laws and violating states’ (and Congress’, in territories) rights to ban slavery.
The secessionists’ commitments to free doeech and the right to bear arms was markedly weaker than the Union’s.
