The Neville Chamberlain School of Diplomacy: “If we’re nice to people who want to destroy us and give them lots of money, they will become democrats and be our allies.”
At a conference I attended this weekend one of the speakers, who has a good track record, started with the fact that a lot of terrorists have come across the Southern and Northern border, and predicted either a series of, or simultaneous attacks by large teams (10 or so) on widespread targets, like the one in Mumbai, in the U.S. this year.
I’m afraid that might work…I expect islamic terror would trail off sharply if the first time they attacked a rural area, which they’d likely avoid for easier pickings in a city, upon finding out their intended targets were not only armed but willing to fight back instead of meekly accept their fates and then trucked the bodies to the nearest hog farm for internment, keffiyeh and all. of course the lunatic left all the way to the UN would scream that they were ‘defiling corpses’ but if those corpses hadn’t decided to start shit they wouldn’t be laying under alayer of pig shit. In this case, I’d call it kosher 😉

And when it happens, The Usual Suspects will scream for “Moar Gun Control” that doesn’t work.
If there is such an attack, or worse (better?) yet a series, the national inching-away from the Left will become a full blown stampede.
I fear a great deal from such a backlash because of the fact that our useless schools have banned the use of Reason and Logic and the nation will slam itself into a reactionary frenzy instead of analyzing how we got here and what we can do about it.
One thing had become obvious to me though.
When the Constitution was forged Representatives, unless they were truly exceptional, had little chance of getting serially reelected, which now we know was a good thing.
I think we should seriously consider a Constitutional Amendment staggering terms to make said Representatives pay more attention to the business at hand rather than the next election.
Strict term limits have a way of toning down the rhetoric and the graft, especially in the last term. I’d be in favour of extending a term to five years, provided it was the only time they’d be allowed to run for ANY office. That might spur them to spend more of that time lining their pockets while they could but they were going to do that anyway and at least they’d only be able to do it once and even if they passed laws to make their own businesses more profitable once they were finished that should spill over to other businesses as well, inadvertently creating jobs and capital to expand.
I escaped from CA. They enacted term limits but that just created the merry-go-round the politicians ride to stay on the public trough. Assembly to Senate to Secretary of whatever to… the other fatal flaw was the permanent cadre of staffers who are ready and willing to lead the newbies around by the nose and we all know which way they swing. We’re going nowhere until we find a way to purge the staffers.

He hopes he’s wrong.
Read the first part of Tom Clancy’s “Teeth of the Tiger”. (And keep a REAL pigskin handy, or a ham sammish).

@JohninMd.(HALP) Are you referring to the fertility clinic bombing or the motorcycle cop losing control of his bike and injuring folks at the parade??
Absurdistan was here. Now, we have to grow away from there. And be prepared. Semper paratus.
