    Too Tall

    From The Motley Fool:

    Q. “What do toy trains and breasts have in common?”

    A. “They were both designed for kids, but it’s the dad that ends up playing with them.”

After the second panel, it is the only (appropriate) comment that came to mind.

“The Views”. I wouldn’t watch that show if it was the last and only thing on TV. I have books, DVDs, amateur radio, other hands-on entertainment. I need to work my lapidary and silver back up, give me something productive to do when I finally retire. Which won’t be anytime soon.

Wood working no. But I would be interested if I could make a space.
Chess……..it’s been a few years, but I could still play, even if not too well at first.
And I have done some counted cross stitch (from a kit).

Those of red and blue who work together deem themselves fit to, and effectively now to be wearing the Purple.
The Schiff show, and everything else, is due to their worry that Trump will upset their rise to full power.

We desperately need to win in November with Trump, Congress and the Senate. If we don’t we lose ou
r freedoms. If we can do that, we can create programs that help the American people and we know Trump is on that side. We have to show the democrats they are wrong. By doing that, we can eliminate the differences in this country. If we can do that, we can eliminate the hatred from the other side. Lincoln said he destroyed enemies by making them his friends.

we can eliminate the differences in this country
Well, no, we can’t. And I wouldn’t want to, entirely.

The problem isn’t the differences, so much as the nature of the difference. The progressives are part of a religious cult that desires gov’t to care for, protect and sustain them. And they’ve seduced a huge part of the electorate into supporting that cult.

And the cult has politicized EVERYTHING. The differences aren’t a problem when they aren’t the province of gov’t to settle. Nor of outrage mobs, a la Cambodia or China.

The cult we must destroy primarily by depriving it of followers. To do this we must educate, extol, and exhort. We must restore a right vision of America in the eyes of the electorate (particularly the children and young adults). You’re right to cite Lincoln here.

We must convince enough of the electorate to prefer family and local communities to the heavy hand of a national (or state in some cases) gov’t. We must convince them to return to a morality in which they govern themselves.

Going purple won’t accomplish that, because it assumes the center is the position of compromise. That “center” has moved way too far to the left because of prior compromise with the progressives. We must move it back to the right first. And convince folks to stop idolizing gov’t.

For Presidents’ Day (what was once called Washington’s Birthday) they say that history reserves one line for US Presidents.

I’ve thought that DJT, i.e., Donaldus Magnus, could have the line …

Trump: Saved the Republic from the Deep State.

    Other one liners …

Washington: Father of the United States.

    Lincoln: Freed the Slaves.

    Reagan: Won the Cold War.

    Obama: 1st Affirmative Action President.

      Love it.

Also awesome. And REAL! From the Perfesser’s place:

“Virginia House Bill 961 — “a ban under the guise of compromise” — was tabled for a full year by the state Senate Judiciary Committee. Townhall’s Lawrence Keane warned last week that the bill would have banned “the sale of semiautomatic firearms that are commonly used for self-defense, recreational and competitive shooting and hunting, as well as suppressors.” Worse, “standard capacity magazine possession would become a crime” under HD961 — or would have, had it passed. That seemed the likely result just up until minutes ago.

It would be fair to guess that last month’s huge Second Amendment rally weighed on committee members’ minds as they voted to table 961.”

The war is a series of battles fought one at a time.
