JTC Apr 02 2019 at 5:05 pm Travis might have screwed that up though; Sam told him to bring in a truckload of hog and apparently he thought she said hawg… 🙂 Calvin Apr 02 2019 at 12:12 am Gonna need a lot of frijoles and tortillas. But there is a level at which sheer numbers alone will overwhelm. That situation is exactly what our POTUS is trying to prevent at our southern land border at this very moment. Sure, the Beretta Viper 14 is old. So’s gravity, but it still works. Nice thing about the Viper is that I have a bullet, I have a target, I pull the trigger, and the gun does all the math for the hit. And with the Viper, I never have batteries go dead on me in the middle of a firefight. -Wolfgang Kies, Wolf and Raven by Michael Stackpole If there’s a computer in it, it can be compromised. or just go down due to technical issues. Computers are fine for data storage or transfer, or just playing games, but if your ass is going to be on the line, make sure your equipment won’t go down because a chip somewhere went “black”, or started singing “I’m A Little Teapot” to itself. clear ether eon The 300 Apr 02 2019 at 8:51 am That’s why I’m not crazy about fly by wire. kadaka Apr 02 2019 at 12:15 pm “or just go down due to technical issues.” So when your red dot/holgraphic or laser sight goes out when the tiny circuit board fries, you’re ready to instantly rip it off the rail and go to iron? eon Apr 02 2019 at 12:57 pm I’ve never used anything more complicated than a Tasco 2.5-14X on top of an accurized .300 WM. No batteries included, or required. Laser sights are mainly for wannabees who are completely oblivious to the fact that they give away their position in subdued light, especially if there’s any amount of dust or humidity (above 45%) in the air. Tactical teams use them mainly due to Hollywood. There is really no substitute for proper sight picture. As they say, how do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice. Practice. Practice. cheers eon kadaka Apr 02 2019 at 1:10 pm “they give away their position in subdued light” That’s what the infrared laser sights are for, work with night vision. Cliff Apr 02 2019 at 7:24 am The country is in bad shape. Our neighbors, the Democrats, are against us. eon Apr 02 2019 at 7:57 am They always have been. They mostly began as the Tories who opposed the Declaration of Independence, and then they were the “planters” who opposed the abolition of slavery, and went to war to impose it on the entire country. They fell in love with Socialism and Communism because both promised a return to the feudal “ideal” of a ruling nobility (them) and a lot of serfs owned by that nobility (everybody else). They had a bromance with Nazism between the world wars because it scratched their mystical, anti-technology, anti-civilization, and anti-Semitic itches. After the second one, they switched that part of their warped and twisted psyches to Islam. Deep ecology became their religion when they realized that it said it was OK to hate everybody and worship dirt. Jehovah says you should love your neighbor; Gaia says to kill him in Her name. (Is she related to Allah?) I’ve always found it ironic that the party that named itself “Democrat” has never believed in democracy. Rather, they believe that they’re the Athenians and everybody else is the rest of Greece. And it might take a Peloponnesian War to sort it all out once and for all. clear ether eon Delilah T. In such historical discussions it is far more accurate and instructive to throw off the D’s and R’s and adopt the term Leftist to differentiate, who then as now appropriate cultures and classes and pretend at protections of them in order to buy/generate popular support…the most racist and slaver mentality and method to achieve the hidden agenda. The more things change, etc. etc. kadaka Apr 02 2019 at 4:35 pm And yet “Leftists” keep looking like old-time feudal lords. Their leaders want to rise to power by commanding a peasant revolt, from the rear. Then they will be firmly ensconced as the new lords of the castle by dint of wisdom, as the peasants gladly serve their enlightened masters, eternally grateful for the blessings bestowed upon them from up high. deBlasio, there’s plenty of money it’s just in the wrong hands. Z-man51 Apr 02 2019 at 9:53 pm I had the distinct pleasure of living in Puerto Rico (1964-’67) when Dad was stationed at Ramey AFB. Even back then it was a third world country with all the evils attached: high-poverty, corruption, bribery, disease and the elites ran everything. My brother took our mother down there a few years ago to see how the old place was nowadays. Not surprisingly, it has only gotten worse. Still overcrowded, poverty throughout, corruption abounds, infrastructure falling apart and the haves have more and the peons have less. The illegal drug trade is a major problem there now and there are whole communities on the island that you just don’t go to anymore if you value your life. The authorities seem to turn a blind eye to the problem until they don’t get paid off then they’re all anti-drug until they get their money. The best thing we could do is grant them their independence and wash our hands of the place. And I hate saying this because even with their problems it is a beautiful Island and the people are very friendly and the majority are proud to be considered American.
