A dream of the Marx Brothers as Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Past, Present and Yet-To-Come TRUMPS the nightmare of an envious and anti-Semitic Karl Marx’s ghost of Communism Past.

I take the Marx Bros more seriously than Karl Marx …

Karl was also anti-Slav. He worked as a reporter for a British paper during the Crimean War. His reports were very nasty concerning Russia people. Collected articles were sold as a book. Which was banned in the Soviet Union.

      Term Limits

I wish the founding fathers would have thought of term limits. We wouldn’t be in the mess were in now. Give the house and the senate two four year terms and your gone. Just like the President. As it is the house is to busy running for re-election for the next two years as soon as they get there to do a whole lot of good. They are mostly power hungry. Just my opinion.

        John

The Founders didn’t consider term limits because in their day 3 score and 10 was the exception not the rule. Some did consider the issue of corruption in office however. The Virginia governorship will not allow consecutive terms. If that was the rule for all elective offices we would see at least some relief from corruption and considerably more competition in the elected class.

The Framers (who wrote the Constitution, as opposed to the Founders who wrote and acted on the Declaration of independence) also never conceived of the concept of career elected politicians. Hereditary, yes — that’s what the Founders revolted against. The idea that anyone would want to spend his life in politics was so foreign that it never occurred to anyone at the time.

It took Mr. Clemens to put a point on it: “(Career) Politicians are the only distinctly American criminal class (parenthetical is mine).”

As attractive as term limits appears, it really cannot be implemented without applying term limits to senior levels of the gubmint bureaucracy. At some level (G6 and up?) there needs to be a set time that you can “serve your country” in the swamp. We have seen this just in the last four years with actors in all sections of the FedCov ‘resisting’, lying, slow-walking requests, etc. These actors are simply marking time until PDJT is gone. They know that if they actually do cross a legal line and get caught, they simply need to keep pushing their trial date down the line until a friendly administration takes over and then the problem goes away.

IMHO the utter lack of any consequences for malfeasance in government is one of the biggest problems we have.

Not everything that flowed from the Enlightenment of 18th & 19th Centuries was pure clean water. Locke, Madison, and Jefferson did well–Marx, Engels, and some of the other late-end philosophers were pissants and revisionist hairballs. To paraphrase P.J. O’Rourke, Communism is to human rights what panty hose are to lovemaking. Not having it.

I hear they are now “NST” (National Security Threat). Or maybe that was only part of the dream.

    My Way Or -->

Marx was a slob and a womanizer. He raped his housekeeper and wouldn’t let her leave the house. He was such a sloppy writer that when he ran into his brain buddy Friedreich Engels (no, not Hitler’s Engels), well good ol’ Friedrich was ONLY too happy to edit Marx’s drivel into coherent composition AND got it published for him. Whoopee!
The current crop of layabouts who think Ol’ Karl was just the cat’s meow have no idea what really happens to the enablers like them, once the hammer has dropped. They have no idea about the gulags. The Siberian Highway from Moscow to Irkutsk is not called the Road of Bones without a reason.

The forecasters here in Georgia say 90% chance of being Blue and Left of Pressure the next 6 years. I wish we could go back to when the Senators were appointed by the Governor and the people approved them through a State Vote in Congress rather than John Q. Dumbass picking a State Representative for the Federal Government.

Oh well, Kemp has a couple more years to keep pointing the state’s economy in the right direction. He has done a pretty good job during this CCP virus attack. Maybe if Fulton county has an outbreak…Hmmm. This week is going to be a very interesting week…

This is just another daily reminder that communism/socialism always end in starvation and genocide.

If Gov. Bradford on Plymouth Plantation couldn’t make it work with a homogeneous group that had all signed onto the plan no one can…or will ever. When your political beliefs fly in the face of not just human nature but all nature it’s time to find some new political beliefs.

Either that or it’s time to water the Liberty Tree.

What are we going to call the American equivalent of Bastille Day, and when is it going to happen? I’m sure there are at least 535 lamp posts in Washington DC strong enough to string up a congress-critter, but what about all the bureaucrats? “Open season- – – – -No Limit”, maybe?

535 just takes care of the Federal problem – there are a bunch more in every state’s legislature, which I realize must be taken care of by the respective states, but in this regard DC is a state that has a “queen,” who is ordering businesses to close against their best interest. She and her bunch will need to be ‘sorted out’ also.
