I discontinued Amazon Prime, I will not have an Alexis, Erica, or whatever they call themselves in my house, no new appliance is going to be capable of conversing with the master of the universe, I also cancelled Netflix and will record my own TV shows without the assistance of my cable provider. Now all I need is a bunker in the mountains and a tin foil hat and I’m ready for almost anything. Damned drones buzzing me again.

The hilarious part to me is how many people want the latest “smart” devices and especially the “smart” appliances.

I’m okay with a fridge that only keeps things cold. I don’t need Big Tech to watch over my leftovers. Likewise all other domestic appliances.

I understand many of the new “smart” TVs have built into their programming to default to report to Big Tech on all activities. When challenged on this, Big Tech shrugs and said it’s in the user agreements.

    Oh brave new world…

In a better world than ours those “user agreements” would _not_ include violations of the 4th Amendment for the convenience of “Commerce”.
If Big Brother wants more, they should pay for it in a separate agreement, not hide it in the legalese.

However to be completely honest, the vast majority of humans are drones. It’s our nature, we’re communal creatures working for the hive. Give us food to eat, a place to sleep, and stuff to do that feels like we’re accomplishing something, and we’re good.

So when the Amazon Shopper app pops up a weekly shopping list based on previous purchases and shows you’ll be saving enough to try these recommended-for-you products gleaned from your online viewing, most people will just click and be glad they have more time to catch a game or watch a movie, or do the wash if they have to. They won’t care. And with a 10-pair pack of new fresh socks only $8 thus well within disposable range, I also project the future will have significantly less clothes washing.

I thought we had Peeping Tom Laws on the books. Can they be charged with those?
Peering through the blinds and watching remotely can be construed as the same thing… Hmm. Maybe start charging them for the shows… or can they be dealt with if children are in the home? Hmm.

“Peering through the blinds and watching remotely”

But a reoccurring theme among progressive-leaning media is virtual privacy. NYC apartments with tall uncovered windows, sunlight falling on the bed. LA hillside homes with glass-walled bedrooms, and bathrooms. Like gun-free zones offering safety, there are no telescopes or binoculars, no Peeping Toms, because They Are Not Allowed, their virtual privacy is guaranteed. You aren’t permitted to look in!

So what does it matter what Alexa hears, it can’t be used in any bad way, their virtual privacy is assured so they are protected.

Read From Bauhaus to Our House by Tom Wolfe. To the Modernist “compound” architects, privacy was an outmoded, “bourgeois” concept that would be stamped out by glass-curtain “walls”, “revealed structure”, and a ban on window curtains. Which they called, yes , “worker housing”, except they intended it for everybody.

The major roadblock to their Mazda dream of “absolute egalitarianism”, surprisingly, was decency laws. Even the high priests of Modernism, like Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius, le Corbusier, and their American acolyte Philip Johnson had to bow to the legal requirements for at least screening off… the bathroom.

To see their idea of the Radiant Future, look up anything referred to as “The Projects” in any major American city. Especially Cabrini Green in Chicago, built in 1962 and torn down in 2011, which was basically forty-eight years and eleven months later than it should have been done.

Like our ‘friends’ from the government, they’re here to help. Once the desired government is achieved, there will be no difference. Too bad the tech moguls promoting this don’t understand that.

And the interesting thing is their fanatic hatred of the likes of Ayn Rand and Jordan Peterson stems from the fact that AR and JP tells them in no uncertain terms that they will _never_ run the show for very long.

I work in a production environment and we ordered some very expensive machines from a company in Italy. We had them set and up and working for a couple of years when they got into a pissing contest over customer support. We saw them on our touchscreen inside our machine just before a breakdown of a software related nature. The kind of problem that required us to pay a premium for tech support remotely.
Yeah, its a brave new world…

Any one ever watch the scifi show “Lexxx?” The first episode is where the Dems want us to go…living in “coffins,” attending to our “assigned” work details and watch out for demerits! You’ll end up heading to “recycling” where they’ll recycle your organs for the betterment of society!!!

No, that will be at the convention after the draft.

And it will think it is in charge.

Bill G, it occurs to me now that gov and tech could very well be one and the same, that Chris’ little list of helpmates in panel one are the evil cabal behind the monkey and the clowns.

The tragic thing is that these well-meaning goal oriented geniuses will not pause to consider that they are paving our way to Hell.
They, like so many others of their ilk, believe that intelligence is a substitute for wisdom.

Listen to the NPR piece I reference downthread and tell me that again.

Tech as practiced by commies in China and in Chris’s list (arguably redundant) are blending into and possibly becoming/controlling leftist gov at light speed.
