If no big rig truckers deliver to the Amazon warehouses, what are the Amazon small truck drivers going to deliver? Porch pirates need not apply!

Actually most cities with a population greater than a million people have about an 18 hour supply of most products due to the miracle of just in time delivery and the fact that zoning laws, traffic, high rents, higher taxes, excessive regulations, and extremely crooked politicians have pushed manufacturing and logistics sites well outside of city limits.

Thirty-six hours after the last trailer is delivered these cities will be devoid of the basic necessities of life.

The good news is that crisis after crisis around the world has repeatedly demonstrated that more than 90% of urban dwellers are unwilling to walk more than a quarter mile, even if their survival depends upon it.

The veneer of civilization is very thin and civilization will collapse in those cities that are not resupplied.

The degree of difficulty will increase by several orders of magnitude for transportation, distribution, resupply, and to restore order over what it would have been if the government had negotiated in good faith with the truckers before they stopped delivering.

Whether the scenario is SHTF, TEOTWAWKI, or Zombie Apocalypse, you do not want to be in an area with a dense population when disaster occurs. See New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina.

90% of urban dwellers will not walk more than a quarter of a mile. About 1% of the population will walk up to five miles.

Anyone who has participated in Disaster Relief or Humanitarian Assistance operations can tell you that in densely populated areas, “Shelter in Place” becomes a euphemism for “Die in Place.”

Do a slowdown. Quit trying to avoid the federal red tape and follow ALL rules perfectly. Drive the speed limit (or slower). That would be enough to make an impact. If that doesn’t work, a stoppage follows.

It is amazing the large number of things that can go wrong with “just in time delivery” GM could never get over my 90 day lag for their ‘non-standard parts’ vs the ‘we will ship it now’, standards. With a full tool and die shop at my disposal, there was a single part that I had a lead time of 1 to 1 1/2 years. The production life of that die set was sold out before it was ready to run.

The Truckers protest reminds me of The Solidarity Movement in the Polish shipyards in the 1980s, but a Lech Wałęsa hasn’t risen yet and instead of a John Paul II we have Francis. Trudeau seems set on creating Cañadazuela and Joey’s just trying to remember if his Depends were changed. We are living in interesting times.

Do the truck drivers of North America realize how big a sledge-hammer they wield? The Canadian truckers showed how big the group actually is.

What would happen if every truck driver, Owner/Operator and Company man alike said “we’re parking the rigs wherever they are at midnight tonite (Sunday) and won’t move them again until midnight Thursday!”

Companies can’t afford to fire their drivers because the trucks are all over the country and they’d sit wherever until the company hired and trained a new driver and got him to the truck.

The O/O’s might worry about the banks repossessing their rigs, but if that happened, what would the banks do with multiple tens-of-thousands of vehicles while they tried to find new buyers?

We hear the phrase “Too big to fail” about companies like GM, but the real group that’s too big to fail is the truckers, if they would just present the same sort of united front the Canadians have shown for the last couple of weeks.

Most of the big transport companies that aren’t already will simply import drivers. A surprisingly large percentage of American drivers aren’t remotely American.

Before their truck gets repo’ed, those truckers need to pour a big bottle of Maple syrup into the engine oil. “Sugar in the fuel tank” doesn’t work to sabotage an engine – – -it won’t dissolve in gasoline or Diesel fuel. A sugary liquid like Karo (cheap) or Maple (more appropriate for north of the border) in the oil will gum up the works permanently!

Then there are the railroads. The trains run on a pretty tight schedule, but hook-up and brake testing can take “forever”. And those damn kids are always running around the yards, messing with stuff.

Of course, I would never suggest anything that would damage equipment or disrupt service………

Just not seeing the end game y’all.

The whole thing is on individual drivers because as others have said most trucking is big biz not O/O’s, and they are not going to willingly participate. True they can’t fire all the drivers for parking but strikes (and that’s what is being called for) break, it’s what they do, even when there is a specific goal like doing their job without a forced jab. And starving the blue shitholes out will accomplish what exactly? I am unclear on the strategy.

Just wonder if the sacrifice on the shoulders of these little guys losing jobs/trucks/contracts is fair to them when it’s all of us who need to rebel, CRA style.

    What am I missing?

Somewhat reverse the government mandates that poured all of the market share and profit to the large corporations, while bankrupting the small businesses. Help make good people profitable again.

Whether it be truckers or any other future form of legitimate protest, we already know the template for dealing with “insurrection” – Jan 6.

And as long as enough of the TDS-infected GOP aids and abets, as we now know with total certainty they will, the Junta will succeed with its oppressive horror show. How many on FoxNews are demanding the release of imprisoned-without-trial Capitol walkers? = 0, nada. It’s more than a pattern.

The most shocking thing about the American Descent Into Fascism has been how tolerantly it’s being tolerated. You’d’ve thought the “Enough!” panic-button stage would’ve been reached many Twilight Zone news-cycles ago, but the insanity keeps escalating and the tolerance abides. Who knows what it’s finally going to take.

Look for the next insurrection to be much more insurrectiony. We went to DC on 1/6 thinking the cops were our friends. We’re over that now. Next visit to DC by the angry and disenfranchised is likely to be far less polite, and DC has neither sufficient cops nor NG available to shut it down in any kind of timeframe the swamp creatures are gonna like.

Barring an outright act of wholesale sedition by the Fascist Democratic Machine, things in DC are going to change PDQ. Pelosi will no longer be the head of the Gestapo, and I would expect the immediate release of the 1/6 political prisoners from their concentration camp.
But considering the tailspin situation the House is in, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Pelosi has herself installed in the White House before election day.

The anti-Amercans have the blue cities. Unless there is a way to win in the enemy’s territory, do not go there more than actions that tie up their assets. If the truckers unite in action here, it should be to take care of the territory that is not under Democrat control. I would say excepting the Indians. They will deal. Maybe deal for them to have honest elections free from Democrat manipulation as the last few election have been influenced. And supply the military bases so long as it is reasonable.
The concept of having the infrastructure in the free areas continue is logical and will keep them stronger in many ways. That should help people if conditions break down as tyrants always create after people say enough and no! The game is Go, not Monopoly.
I read of some efforts towards an honest midterms. I do not know if it is enough. I am out of my old loops.

Most of the Freedom Convoy organizers have been arrested. The last one remaining asked everyone to peacefully depart and prepare for the future.

The downtown core is peppered with “checkpoints” preventing people from entering to join the protest. Even journalists are being turned back… although those obedient to Trudeau the Younger seem to have been excluded from that.

Trucks parked in Ottawa’s downtown core represent only a small number of the actual numbers of trucks participating/available. Most were “staged” outside of the city core in places like farmer’s fields… so the gubbermint sent threat letters to the farmers saying if they didn’t evict all truckers, their properties would be seized and bank accounts frozen.

Trucks towed out of downtown are being impounded and seized by the government.

My thought is Trudeau the Younger invoked the Emergency Act tactically. The goal was not to purge the protesters (although I’m sure he enjoyed that side benefit) rather to entrench the unconstitutional legislation which is allowing the government to trace, to freeze and to seize financial and other assets. The Younger’s evil minion, Chrystia Freeland, indicated she intends to make those changes permanent.

I doubt the Younger could pass any bill that draconian through the normal legislative process… not that he’s been bothering with such matters since they declared the Wuhan Flu to be an existential crisis two years ago…

Proof positive that a trucker strike ain’t the way. Mini-Tru acted at the behest of the US “gov” no doubt, and they will double-down and triple-down on those financial, seizure, and arrest tactics. It not on the truckers to make that unilateral sacrifice, and it accomplishes nothing long-term that I can see. The “cold” civil war as somebody upthread mentioned, in in full tilt. The “hot” civil war that we hope is not necessary, will be decided on 11/6. Thence, depending on outcome, CRA. That is the only method that they will understand and rightfully fear.

Off topic. Putin says ‘Make it so’… done deal: The announcements about Donetsk and Luhansk — two self-proclaimed “republics” in eastern Ukraine engaged in a stalemated civil war with the Western-backed Kyiv government has been underway since 2014 — appeared to be carefully coordinated with officials on the ground. Reuters reported that Mr. Putin‘s remarks came after the heads of the two regions had issued public appeals to the Russian president to recognize their independence.
