Col. Klink in the clink? Funny. My dream is for him to have a lot of company in there…each with their own personal Leroy like the one behind him.

No gravitic drive? Keep telling yourself that, dear.

Nope. No gravitic drive. Not even on the horizon. Not even in theory. Even the current imagineering of a “warp drive” requires a shed load of unobtanium. A gravitic drive would only be useful as an in-system drive anyhow. Folks forget that even gravity propagates at light-speed (“C“). C is the maximum speed for the propagation of information. Absent some sort of reactionless (i.e. not having to throw part of yourself away) drive, even using a gravitic drive in a star system would involve propagation delays. Throw a grav beam at the moon and you wouldn’t start moving for almost 2 seconds. Throw one at the sun and you’re talking about a prop delay of over 16 minutes before you get moving. Space is enormous and light is slower than molasses at Barrow, Alaska in the dead of winter.

However communication using quantum-entangled particles is making great strides, and is demonstrating instantaneous communication with fast secure quantum networks planned. So c as the max speed of information propagation is no longer really a thing. With enough repeater stations we’ll have near-instantaneous communication throughout the solar system, and maybe beyond.

I have read of the “certainty” of this “tangled web of communication” too, but can you throw a link or two out that will take us to a few incontestable articles to read?

        Ursin, R., Tiefenbacher, F., Schmitt-Manderbach, T., Weier, H., Scheidl, T., Lindenthal, M., … & Ömer, B. (2007). Entanglement-based quantum communication over 144 km. Nature physics, 3(7), 481.
        https://www.nature.com/articles/nphys629?cacheBust=1508214254328

In 2007, distances of 144 miles had already been achieved. But that was for single photon communication. Good proof of concept, but not really useful. More useful is the recent stuff. This second article is for shorter distances (20 km) but a much larger flow of information:
        u, X., Li, Q., Westly, D. A., Moille, G., Singh, A., Anant, V., & Srinivasan, K. (2019). Chip-integrated visible–telecom entangled photon pair source for quantum communication. Nature Physics, 1.
        https://www.nature.com/articles/s41567-018-0394-3

Getting the volume of communication up has been the key. The actual distance it goes has no theoretical limit, because at the quantum level, distance loses its meaning, and it can be reasonably argued that all distances are the same for any two particles that are entangled.

Sounds like what Orson Scott Card was writing about in the later “Ender’s Series” books. Near-instant interstellar communication which eventually became near-instant interstellar travel, without all the messy inertial problems that plagued conventional space craft.

No need to worry Mr. Clapper … as it will “help your soul” to quote a rather famous Nobel prize laureate.

Since the essence of each of us human beings is “information” (and thus incorporeal, sometimes called “spirit” or “mind” or “sentience”), and in fact is related to quantum entanglement as theorized by Roger Penrose, the speed-of-light transportation limit which applies to physical things does not apply to us. Thus, if each human being is essentially “information”, and if information can exceed the speed of light through quantum entanglement (as noted by Kadaka above) then humans ultimately cannot be constrained by the C-speed limit. That means our incorporeal essence will ultimately spread throughout the universe as it speeds toward its destiny of universal consciousness and intelligence.

Climate Oops: National Park Begins Subtle Removal of “Gone by 2020” Signs After Glaciers Just Keep Not Being Gone

(The Jackson Glacier—easily seen from the Going-To-The-Sun Highway—may have grown as much as 25% or more over the past decade.)”

Got a desperate call from the Red Cross the other day, need donors now. At the bloodmobile now. The volunteers are all “Wear Orange” w/ “Moms Demand Action” shirts and propaganda stations, w/ talking points sheets by the intake workers.
