I like homemade. I can control what goes in and what doesn’t.

Farther up, here in Montana, we still grill things outdoors when it’s twenty below. You guys in Utah give up too easily.

Where are the white hots? My mom’s relatives would drive down from Rochester with a few pounds of them. Nowadays they’re often available locally.

Bronx wind turbine’s blades fly off, smashing car and billboard

A shoddy wind turbine fell apart in the Bronx on Monday when it couldn’t handle its own power source — gusty winds.

Assemblyman Mike Benedetto claimed the monopole turbine was erected quickly “in order to try and make a buck.”

As seen in the US and Europe during the extravagant subsidies around the start of the millennium, many companies formed subsidiaries that would build wind and solar installations with government loans, the transferable tax credits went to the parent company or were sold outright, and the subsidiary for the particular project with all the debt could then be spun off. So the parent company drained the profit up front and avoided liability if the project failed later.

There are numerous installations in Europe and America that went up quickly to try to make a buck.

And given the problems in their manufacturing, building, and eventual disposal, they do not provide anything like the “Clean Energy” that is touted for them.

It doesn’t end there. The environmental destruction from building 4-lane access roads, blasting residue and changes in drainage patterns, depopulation of large and small game, and impact on human health is rarely documented, but definitely a factor in their placement, utility, and operation.

Ronnie saw the scams from 40 years back; first thing he did in the WH was rip out Jimmah’s solar array from the roof which was not only useless but had done major damage from leaks.

        The “green” unintended consequences abound.
I’m living in a house that uses a “geothermal” heat pump system.
The cost of installation, repair, re-repair, and specialized maintenance outstripped any hope of making the thing pay for itself, much less saving money.
And that was before the near future prospect of 4th Generation nuclear and fusion power, which will make electricity too cheap to meter.

Isn’t that the truth for almost all of them? Even the “well-built” ones?

They ALL went up to try to make a buck for somebody. If there weren’t bucks available, nobody would have made the investment to put the damn things up in the first place.

I don’t think it was the hot dogs reminded Skye of Tucker. Just the smell of meat.

And, yes, I think Sam should have packed a turkey with some colored gunpowder gunpowder of color, and fried launched it for New Year’s Eve.

Hey, the ISS deserves fireworks on New Year’s Eve, too! 😉

Germany went full bore on renewable energy sources. Results were the sixth most expensive power, globally. Only a few island nations are more expensive. Another reason German companies have relocated overseas — Alabama and others thank you. BTW, Germany’s back to using coal, including their own dirty brown coal and imported US coal.

Just stay away from those Filipino hot dogs.

Every time I visit The Philippines I find myself wincing at the sight of radioactive/fluorescent glow-in-the-dark hot dogs being sold in supermarkets and restaurants. Over there they even chop ‘em up and put ‘em in “spaghetti” and on their “pizzas” … the Horror!

Wishing all a Happy and Prosperous 2020.

Just think how much more effective the cheerleader would have been if she was trained how to fight effectively, instead of flailing wildly.

Most of that can be fixed and even at their worst doesn’t come close to the death and destruction of property and wild life for carbon based power.
