Elon Musk is demonstrating what real FU money can do! We’ve got a pretty good warrior example to follow. The red wave is rising!

Yeah. I just cancelled my PP account.
No sense in taking chances as to when (not if) they’ll enforce that $1500 fine for social media offenses.
First, what are they doing monitoring social media?
Second, who determines what is offensive and what is not?
All kinds of questions concerning this decision that they SAID they retracted (but could re-enforce at any time w/out warning).

Direct violation of the agreement they have with government and states about content moderation outside purview of their business.
Time to hammer them in each state with banking laws, wire fraud, 1862 statutes, Rico etc.
They have zero grounds to actually fine or punish anyone for their opinions, political beliefs, or actions outside pay pals business.
Push come to shove hit them in loc courts all over, refuse to allow class action (only benefits lawyers) aggregation and if found guilty and they refuse payment put license on them and have sheriff in their local enforce it.
They especially have zero grounds to do this as long as they allow money to transfer to antifa and terrorists groups the world over.
If they work directly with banks on fines to allow them to pull back money or add fines, then Rico charges and penalties would apply, neh?
No wonder they pulled statements back, but still hold it out as a threat to any user.
State AGs need emailed on this as well as FCC and SEC.
Request assets list from SEC as discovery for suit too. Such would make them panic as would stockholders.
Smart players would short the stock on this.
They’d lose valuation and lone guarantees from major banks.
If they go after Joe American with this shit, they have to do same for any suspected of being affiliated with any terrorist group and antifa or BLM.

Eff all that sound and the fury and just buy the damn thing and give it what will come to be known as “The Twitter Treatment” at the hands of Javier, Elon, and Granddaddy Don.

What did ebay sell it for? Well it went public so hard to say, but paypal has acquired/owns other services that many may not be aware of, notably venmo which I and my son use quite a lot for business. So there is a lot of good potential buried inside all that communist evil (they weren’t communist enough to suit ebay, the most radically commie outfit out there, they have essentially killed themselves off in the process of trying to own and control their members and everything about them).

Anyway, ebay paid Musk and partners 1.5B for paypal 20 years ago, spun it off 7 years ago and sold it off 2 years ago, and it will have a fixed market value by virtue of stock price just like Twitter did, but a lot lot less. Javelon Corp. could and should buy it out at a premium to stockholders like Vanguard and Black Rock and return it to what it was when Musk first merged his X.com into it, his share was 175M when they sold it; like to see what that buyout figure would be now, but no doubt the platform can be fixed and turned around to a proper business instead of a corporate commie activist, love to see that happen.

I doubt her name means anything to the sort of person PayPal hires to do tier one customer support… back in my AOL days, we used to refer to that particular labor pool as having a “low tooth-to-tattoo ratio.”
These days, I suppose the formula has had to be modified to include terms for piercings and haircolor not found in nature.

Well, Musk built paypal once. Even with non compete, which has probably expired, he could probably build something better now.

Meanwhile, I tried to cancel my paypal account, but they refused to cancel without my phone number. Which I wasn’t about to give them. I’ve had that account for better than two decades without a phone number. They’ve been trying to get me to verify some imaginary number I don’t recognize, but I refused that as well.

I got hold of customer support and explained that I wanted the account closed, and that I had provided email and password, but wouldn’t be giving them my phone number.

Two hours later, they get back to me via email and offered to close it via text. Now, how do they expect to send me a text without a phone number do you suppose?

I settled for deleting my payment methods.

Saw thoughts on LinkedIn that suggest the Twitter acquisition is all about establishing a new payment system. We’ll see. I had set up a business PayPal for a singe transaction years ago and found it impossible to delete account even after business closed. Still getting e-mails from them. Nope I won’t give them phone # either.

Elon has already stated that he wants to make Twitter a one-stop shop for all your online needs.
If he can bulletproof security he’ll carve out a huge chunk of the Interweb for himself, especially if he offers alternatives to any given Woke enterprise.
It would be glorious to have truly secure access.

The PayPal demand for a cell number is to even access your account, not just close it. When I went to close my account, I gave them my work number. Since it’s a landline, the confirmation text they sent was useless, but the confirmation window had a call instead of text option. So I had them call the number, which forwarded the call to me at home. Confirmation entered, account closed.

I know I know, I hate that plastic pig too, but that is a frickin’ masterfully produced 15-second commercial and extremely effective at conveying the product, which ironically is a rarity; how many stupid ass commercials have you seen, even entertaining ones, and then ask yourself afterward wtf they were selling? Not this one; animal freaks will flock to her “family business” because of it.

This is just the tip of what’s going to happen with a digital currency, wait until the gov’t freezes your bank accounts for saying the wrong thing or donating money to the wrong cause.
Up here we’ve been the biggest user of debit cards since they started, and awhile back when most of them went offline for a day, I saw people very literally standing in the grocery store with carts full of groceries and blank looks on their faces when the checkouts weren’t taking debit.
It’s not too late to start setting some cash or gold/silver aside, but the gov’t can make ‘hard’ money unuseable with the stroke of a pen as they did here with the penny and $1 and $2 bills and good luck trying to pay for a bag of groceries with a gram of gold at any supermarket.
The usual ‘official’ recommendation was to keep a three day supply of food/water/medications for emergencies, that’s recently been increased to thirty days. I tink I’ve got 90 days right now and setting more aside eac time I go shopping but you can’t get more than a thirty day supply of some meds, it used to be a hundred days but the gov’t health plan put restrictions on that during the scamdemic and forced the pharmacies to restrict purchases as well, wonder why…

As some have pointed out, a Central Bank Digital Currency is a tyrant’s wet dream and the #1 reason to abolish the Federal Reserve outright.
A close second is that the Federal Reserve (or any central bank for that matter) is a criminal enterprise backed by Government that shovels wealth into the pockets of those already wealthy by way of debt creation and the inflation that follows.
The excuse for a central bank is that it stabilizes prices and maintains employment, and history has shown this is an outright lie. It can and does manipulate prices to the advantage of the Elites.

True that OldA, the fifty bucks a gram of oro is worth wouldn’t hardly pay for a whole bag of groceries. But that’s not why you hold gold anyway; it is quite non-fungible in public, except for larger purchases from knowledgeable sellers in larger better recognized form, like eagles or maples, or bars for some.

That’s why you keep a stash of junk silver too; everybody, even checkout drones recognize a mercury dime is worth about two bucks, perfect for a loaf of bread or whatever, and ten or so Franklins will buy you that bagful.

But in general your hard money is for occasional conversion to scrip when necessary to function in their system, but holding it until then is about the best prep for shtf that you can do, other than….

Your other precious metals are more critical to your cause when it really goes down though, God forbid, and it is my perception that is much more difficult up there than here in lower Americastan.

Many years ago due to the way medical plans were written, we ended up with a great deal of medical debt and not enough $ to go around. I ate one meal a day to make sure my family was fed, and did without. After I went back to work and paid off the $40 K in medical debt, I started with food storage.

I can tell everyone here is that it came in handy after a layoff or pay cut.
When I saw the Wee Nasty Beastie show up and all the Harrumphing that got the little voice going “OH CRAP” they’re at it again. Remember your pets need food also.
