Today’s froo-froo “avocado toast” is a cold slab of toast with a thin smear of guacamole. The real stuff is crisp hot toast, four thin pats of cold butter, and a peeled quarter avocado sliced thinly, stuck on the toast and salted. One quarter of the avocado for each slice of bread. THAT is how it is done and has been for 75 of my years, at least.
I couldn’t tell you the difference. I’ve been severely allergic to avocadoes and bananas since I was a youngster. I can eat banana bread since heating apparently kills the enzyme (or protein?) that triggers the allergy.

Green and yellow — John Deere. Ah, memories. The summer after high school graduation (1971), I worked for a John Deere dealership. My job was assembly and dealer prep on new equipment. The combines were the latest and greatest, fully enclosed cabs with an AM radio. Things have changed a bit since. (Yeah, I know this video is six years old. still….).
I’m looking at all of this and seeing how prescient H.Beam Piper was.
Our present mess is a nasty cross between Space Viking (1964) and “Day of the Moron” (1949). (You can find both for free at Project Gutenberg.)

And the over 100 million Chinese, Tibetans, Vietnamese, Cambodians, and etc. killed from the r893 of Nanking to Tiananmen Square were done by fine,upstanding Buddhists and Official Atheists.
It’s the philosophy in all its forms. The belief that mankind can be made perfect, or at least perfectly obedient to an Enlightened Ruling Class, if everybody will Simply Shut Up And Sing.
(Literally in Red China’s case. During the Cultural Revolution, schoolchildren had to sing “Sailing The Seas Depends On The Helmsman”, an ode to “The Great Helmsman”, Mao, every morning. while their older siblings in the Red Guards were busy beating and murdering people, often their own relations.)
Every such totalitarian “movement” starts with “Wouldn’t it be marvelous if we could tell everyone what to do and nobody was allowed to tell us ‘no’?”
Today, I look at post-modern progressivism and I see the same thing all over again. Right back to the Athenian Aesthetes and their Long Walls.
It always begins with high-sounding goals.
And always ends in blood.
The thing to remember is that the blood is always the real objective, all the time. Everything else is a lie.

I first hear the “land of fruits and nuts” thing in boot camp (San Antonio) in the very late fifties. Being a native Angelino, it stuck with me. Also recall something about ‘Hotrods and something” from Calif.

They’ve taken one of the most geologically beautiful states and totally fecked it with their politics. A buddy has been living in a hotel for a year and a half after the fires in Altadena and still no forward movement on the rebuild. Gaia first? Who knows? He’s a native Angelino and loves his home but hates the way it’s run. Virginia is teetering thanks to NoVA. Save yourselves.
It’s not ‘being a bitch’ by working withe the ONLY non-islamic country in the region, one that can defend itself if allowed to and that doesn’t scream ‘death to America’ with every second breath. Up until Israel decided that Trump wasn’t a bad guy to work with, they were the darlings of the dnc, never questioned when there was money to be handed out…as long as the proper percentage made it back to the party, but they got a better offer from the islamists and turned their backs on Israel to try and quiet the college kids they’d indoctrinated and then found out they couldn’t control. Turning schools into anti-semitic hotbeds clamouring for socialism and more terrorists didn’t work out the way they planned ‘hoist by their own petard’ seems to be the dnc operating plan lately.
If the dnc leadership smartens up and realizes that the socialist and islamist candidates they allowed to get this far are an existential threat to the party and their paycheques, and discovers that they won’t be getting any more paycheques, kickbacks, prestige or paid vacations once they’re replaced the nthey’ll startworking against their own candidates…hopefully they’ll wake up sooner than later, mamdani is just the barest hint of what’s waiting for the country and the world if it goes much further, but nobosy ever accused a dem of being intelligent…clever and crafty maybe but intelligent ? no.
