      The news of Jack’s death pretty much killed her.

      Where’d the bankrupt part come from? I thought Jack was hanging on.

    “Gubmint” is going to considerable lengths to black out any data on casualties.

    My SWAG is that they don’t want to have to accept responsibility for the consequences of;

    1. A demented “disaster services director” who was too busy obsessing about his mystical relationship with ancient Hawaiian “Water godliness” to release water for firefighting;

    and

    2. A misapplied “disaster plan” based on tsunamis that ordered the only road out of the fire area blocked. Resulting in what looks on satellite imagery like the “Highway of Death” north out of Kuwait City in January 1991.

    At this point, we’re talking about negligent homicide on a mass-murder scale. Considering that the casualty rate is expected to be about equal to that of the last major wildfire in the United States, the Peshtigo WI fire of 8 Oct 1871.

      I agree with what you posted except that it was premeditated murder.

      The Maui wildfire is no different than the gas chambers and ovens in Nazi Concentration Camps.

        It’s what happens when self-anointed philosopher-kings who “live in their own reality*” have to deal with actual reality.

        They inevitably end up saying

        But it’s not supposed to do that!

        Well, it doesdo that“.

        I’d strongly suggest that the “enlightened ones” put down the Kahlil Gibran and step away from it.

        There are any number of good texts on emergency procedures. And an even greater number on elementary physics.

        They need to start hitting the actually useful books.

        (* Yes, I pinched this from Overlords of the UFO [1976]. The attitude and “philosophy” on display is remarkably similar to that of the blow-dried idiot “host” of same.)

        MasterDiver, what did you think about the Maui “Water Official” (who knew such a role existed?) initially refusing to allow water to be allocated to fight the fires? Just another leftoid incompetent or malevolent?

        ” They need to start hitting the actually useful books. ”

        Like the Soviet Union, those cult followers and operatives in the Union of Soviet Socialist America follow the current leader’s socialist dogma in their religion.
        That is dangerous. The CCCP lost all of the important early battles in WW@ because the Officer Corp had been purged of all not following socialist, or especially, Stalinist dogma. It was only when they replaced Stalin with the motivator of Mother Russia did the Soviets start hardening and the military and populace were motivated and produced.
        Arson has been a part of covert actions (sometimes overt) in warfare.
        Islam has done this. Recent has been in Israel, Greece, Spain, France the USA, and other locations. In Vietnam vegetation was burned (or sprayed with herbicides like Agent Orange) to remove cover. All actions are used in war.
        Developers will throw people down the stairs, kill them, beat them, burn them out, change laws, have the government remove them, genocide them, remove them, and all sorts to get property. Especially property where billions of dollars of property are possible. This all conforms with central banks need to financialize more. nations bring replacement populations in to remove the useless proles who are peacefully living their lives, so the land can better produce mortgage payments for the banks.
        Financializing everything extends control over areas and pulls cash into the preset and obligates that property in the future, thus controlling the property and people. The means and methods are legion in controlling the future and obligation those living there, thus controlling them.
        This deserves several pamphlets or many huge books and teaching the people what is important and controlling. Too many are trained to pursue immediate pleasure and enslave themselves.

        There are too many *&#$&@() details they can use to screw the world and many times legally obtain their greedy goals.

        Various tinfoil hats (in a good way) have speculated that one complication was Hawaii’s land ownership rules. Many large condos there were built on land leased generations ago for way under current market value from native owners. Those leases are now starting to expire, and the owners plan(ned) to add a factor into the new lease terms to compensate for lost revenues over the previous generations. The condos were over a barrel. And now they are not.

      Newsheads are blaming the blocked highway on “higher-ups.” Nope. There’s a time for orders, and a time for “I’m the one on the ground.” The cops on the barricade should have said. “Fire’s coming! People need to get away. Unblock the road and get traffic *moving*.”

    That heir being the rightful owner by direct inheritance of that ranch.

    How’s the optics of stealing the land and assets of a newborn and his grieving,seriously injured, recovering Mom?

    Texas Common Law Marriage statute and common law comes to mind.
    Have the Don bring in great lawyers and have the friends remember the positions about their what they said about everything recalled. Jack was just formalizing what they had held out to everyone was true. The baby alone is evidence to that in several ways. Who knew what when. Does the State administration desire the Abbotville concept to be in the papers and talk shows and pod casts perpetually? How much of a delay will challenging the state’s assertions or the family’s assertions of old or novel legal concepts in the appellate courts take. Will it then be covered by the taking rules and the state having to pay the huge legal bill? OH MY! Lawyers are rejoicing.

      First and foremost, ownership is settled law; Jack and his Mom dying intestate and conception before death makes the baby the uncontested heir (unless there are other unknown relatives)…UNLESS, the complication of Jack dying before Mom and who the titleholder was prior, changes that.

      But once that is settled and the baby owns the land, plaster that beautiful newborn face snuggled with his Mom on anything that mentions gov trying to snag their inheritance away from them.

      Does Texas recognize “common law” marriages? And how long do the couple have to live together to be recognized as married?

      The reason that I ask is that I have a friend in Utah whose GF died (depression suicide, so sad), Utah does NOT recognize “common law” (non)marriages at all, no matter how long they’ve lived together (over 10 years), he’s going/being put through intestate hell by the GF’s family.

        Marriage or not is irrelevant to the estate passing to the child in this case.

    • August 24, 2023 at 9:07 pm
      larryarnold

      Texas doesn’t have a “Common Law marriage law.” The state does have “Marriage without formalities.”
      To be married under Texas Family Code Section 2.401 the couple has to either declare they are married by filling out a form and filing it with the County Clerk, or live together and represent to others they are married.
      Jack and Kiko had done neither.

      Nor could they, as postulated earlier, have “gone to a Justice of the Peace.” To be married in Texas a couple has to:
      1. Apply together for a license from the County Clerk;
      2. Wait 72 hours*;
      3. Have a ceremony;
      4. Have the completed license filed with the County Clerk.

      * There are exceptions for service members on active duty, or couples who have completed an eight-hour marriage class.

        None of the details of marriage or not are irrelevant to Jack’s son’s inheritance. Again as stated above, unknown if Jack’s Mom dying after him will have any effect on the chain of custody as it were.

    It is amazing that I was told in general that this is what people would do back when I was eight years old by the communists in the communist hall across the street. I talked with them about it until they all had died of old age.
    Their goals were different, but the blindly pursued goals to the detriment of others was the same.
