Agreed about both counts. I’ve seen that pose before. But a man never really knows what he’s getting into. Still sometimes a good thing to take the chance, if what he’s getting into is moving in the right direction. Oh, and if what he’s getting into is moving the right way, too…

I think the young man has been around the clan long enough to know what is going on. He may have been FBI, but he ain’t stupid.

Was reading about Navajo sovereignty and this reminded me of todays toon.

“At an October meeting of the House Committee on Natural Resources, Westerman, the committee’s ranking Republican, challenged Democrats on the panel to speak up if they didn’t ultimately seek to end domestic oil and gas production altogether.

    No Democrats spoke up.”

    Maybe they just weren’t listening….

Maybe they do not want gas and oil. They really have not realized everything they would be doing without.
We are Not our great grandfathers, they could probably do that.

All too true. But that’s how it is with the willfully ignorant. They don’t know what they don’t know (or want to know) and they’re always surprised when they get their way and then wonder why “this, that, and the other thing” are no longer available or has become so expensive even Bill Gates will think twice about buying it.

    • November 18, 2021 at 12:55 pm

      And as to those consequences…

People have a right to defend themselves, even when they do stupid things, and by law they still have the right to defend their lives. He is not guilty of the charges against him. HE IS NOT GUILTY OF THE CHARGES AGAINST HIM!

But an acquittal does not make a foolish man a hero. Any movement that calls him one, and any commentator “expert” or not, is encouraging more young men to recklessly brandish weapons in dangerous places. And even with acquittal his life too is ended. For better or worse is a question for the acquitted one.

Oh you thought I was talking about Rittenhouse? No, George Zimmerman. But every word above applies to Kyle too.
There are lessons in the latter and in the former.

I can’t wait until we stop burning oil and stop using it for transportation and heat. The problem is like the dems getting out of Afghanistan is they act like children getting their way without considering the consequences. They want everything NOW and will destroy the country to get what ever they want at the moment.

You are correct. Any use of a weapon needs to be with a particular good end in mind. Risking your own life in that situation was not a wise move, no matter how much he was in the right. listen to the attack of the prosecutor. He laid out the theory (dogma) that a human life taken is never justified for any property, Steal a man’s horse in the desert. Stalin stealing all of the food from the kulak’s farms right after harvest. Destroy people’s livelihood such as they will die is justification for deadly force.
When the government refuses to defend you, you retain the right to defend themselves. The same goes with states. Texas should be using its sheriffs and State guard to defend the borders and deport / expel the enemy armies. They are enemy even if they don’t think so. them as the USA has rejected its duty.
In several instances, while within my rights and armed, I did not kill or even shoot the attackers. It did risk my life, that includes great bodily harm. I pardoned them. one dramatically so.
One was from Trayvon’s neighborhood and I theoretically could have known Trayvon’s father.
I kept my block where my building was, and an old Jewish lady’s block where her building was, as clear of drug sales as I could.
I must say that sh)t scum billionaires ruined the neighborhood so they could buy up as much property as they could. They enabled that crime. There were only two nigh officers for a huge area with 45000 people. We were up to almost a murder a week. The city cooperated by sending code enforcers to an area where they had banned permits for new or repair work. Then they used the condition to try to condemn property for redevelopment. I daily checked for graffiti and damage. I came by at 10AM and the old lady’s building was clean of graffiti. I came back at Noon and found some and cleared it up and painted over it The old lady received a code violation for the graffiti in the mail dated that day in the mail. It is an unfair world.
All of those events have lessons. be careful. Fight properly and effectively.

Corruption can be pervasive. Yet still good people can be found that remain in government.

Good piece with good points NotYet…you were a local man
doing whatever it took to defend your own home and community, assuming an accepted risk.

But all irrelevant to my point of an armed boy incapable of assuming or accepting risk. Moving into an area of unknown actors committing unknown damage and harm for unknown reasons.

If a minor is going armed and intent upon defense, let it be in his own damn doorway defending his own damn home and his own damn self and loved ones. What he actually did was stupid and virtually guaranteed to end tragically, which it did, for the perforated spooks, the kid himself, and in many ways for all of us.

        Agreed.
He may have had the right to do it. He was wrong to do it, for so many reasons. At an uneducated inexperienced 17 , he should have stayed in his own doorway and asserted his rights there.

I think we should all go on strike and stop paying for this insanity known as Congress. Cut them out by not paying them anymore. Of course, they control the funds, so it may take a different tack to get this done. But it surely must give way to something better than what is…

I seems insane that the fed vacuums up income tax to distribute it to select orgs back in the states. Surely not what the founders envisioned. States need to nut up and say nope- we’re keeping the tax dollars and will distribute within our own states as we see fit, including returning it to the taxed; senators should be recalled to the states as agents representing the states and under the thumbs of the governors. They can cooperate on projects of mutual state interest. But the fed is absolutely out of control. The fed must be broken if these United States are to preserve our Republic.
