    Too Tall

Powerful but sad commentary on our political (no-) class.

With the exception of President Trump; few, if any will work on behalf of the American citizen.

It seems like Canada has the same malaise. The Liberals are illiberal bordering on insanity. The Conservatives are conservative in name only. The only party with any interest in actually cutting taxes and reining in the size & scope of government is brand new… created a year ago by Maxime Bernier with the unfortunate name of the People’s Party of Canada…

The media can’t wait to slander Bernier with all the usual leftist labels. He wants to reduce immigration to pre-Trudeau levels and restore the merit-based selection process? Clearly a racist xenophobe… possibly Nazi but at the least far-right white supremacist…

    Dems/Gopes…tuhmayta/tumahta.

But there’s hope. Give a listen when you have a few minutes to this NPR piece on their show hilariously called 1A wherein a young cool and collected young woman who is Executive Director of the Kansas Republican Party as she states her case, tells the truth, and repeatedly fends off the “host’s” attempts to get her to deride Trump…great job Shannon Golden.

    https://the1a.org/shows/2019-10-07/1a-across-america-the-impeachment-inquiry-and-how-it-affects-kansas-politics

This is a perfect example of when a commenter here was aghast at the thought of my listening to NPR and I termed it “opposition research”…the incredible partisanship and truly enjoyable spectacle of the host getting so worked up and almost apoplectic that this young woman would not just admit that he was right is worth your time. All is not lost if this young lady is an example of the new generation of Republicans. Also, based on much of what I learned in this story, I might want to consider becoming a Kansan!

The whole piece is interesting and illuminating but jump to about the 39:00 mark to listen to this twerp try to browbeat and threaten her, and her factual and devastating (to him) responses.

I had to “internets search” SMOD. Got a good laugh, as I’ve been advocating a small “tactical” meteor wiping out just the swamp. We need a box on our ballots for “None of the Above”. It would be my most used vote.

Oddly enough, NOTA has been proposed as a ballot choice and rejected by several states. I wonder what they are afraid of? Well, we could always use the “Write in Other” line.

The difference is, NOTA has a chance of being a majority/plurality vote, while the write-in line will just be split 100 ways and its significance will be lost.

They won’t allow NOTA, because as the old saying has it, if voting actually changed anything, incumbents would make it illegal… and they have an interest in keeping it that way.

        John

It’s not so much the incumbents but the machine/swamp that installs them. NOTA cuts _their_ choices out of the picture.
This is why I push Approval Voting (unlimited ballot choices and an up-or-down vote on each choice). This cuts down on the influence of the middle men and allows people to actually vote using _their own_ knowledge of the candidates instead of what a party machine spoon feeds them.

One hope is what I call “White Truck” Republicans. They are the mostly young, white, skilled-trade voters who in the 2016 campaign used to come into my GOP HQ begging for Trump yard signs. And would come back and offer to buy a replacement for the one stolen from their front yard!
They are one of the reasons that President Trump won Michigan.

Sounds exactly like the young Kansas party girl I mentioned above.

Maybe they know something we Boomer don’t; that it ain’t the party anymore as it is currently infested, but the infrastructure that has value to be rebuilt in the image of Trump…he definitely ain’t no 3-martini Republican and understands he represents Deplorables and hopefully those White Truck young’uns (trade and entrepreneur oriented while eschewing the rot that is the leftism of academia.

My 35 y.o. son fits that mold and I have witnessed quite a few like him who view business as usual in the party as an infection to be cleared up and out while keeping the place on the ballot and a framework to be built on. Your hope is my hope and the hope of the Republic.

Just a couple of notes, I’m a Gopher in that I matriculated from Minnesota but was never a member of the DFL. A family friend who is a big supporter ($) of Trump and the GOP in MN is not going to the Rally because she is afraid for her welfare after Antifa announced they were going to harass attendees and the Mpls Po-Po were going to stand down. The first shots in the Civil War 2.0 maybe fired in Minnesota. I hope not but there is a contingent of the old DFL and the GOP who are not particularly happy and are filled witha cold rage over what has been done to their state. The NWO bastards might be hanging from lamp posts before this is over.

Does he realize what he JUST SAID?! James Clapper claims intel agencies just ‘did what Obama told them to’ with Trump (watch)

This is the former Director of National Intelligence then CNN contributor who was brought on “news” shows to say Trump was a Russian asset who committed treason. Like how they’d bring on Adam Schiff for the same and talk about the direct evidence they couldn’t talk about, before the Mueller Report came out. And also former CIA head John Brennen, known for screaming Trump was a traitor, now says he may have been fooled by “bad info”.

AG Barr must be getting pretty close. Time to release the third whistleblower?

I’ve been waiting a long time for the IG to clean house, and I realize the OIG is only just a little less corrupted by the One than the regular services. But when I found out that the first “whistle blower” was disaffected CIA I was given a breath of hope. It meant that house cleaning has been in progress for quite some time, and professionalism might be returning.
We can only pray that the other services are having similar delousing.

I thought the 2016 election was an example of the worst game of “would you rather” that I ever heard of. Hillary has shown that we really dodged a bullet by not electing her. I didn’t like Trump as I thought he was too bombastic and authoritarian. I still think so, but I like some of the things he has done and dislike some. Of course, I say that about every president. Difference is that he has been great for the economy and deregulation (mostly). The MSM and the left has pushed me more into Trump’s camp by constantly lying about him. I would watch a speech and see it misconstrued by everyone. I also think that he is the perfect counter balance to the insanity of the socialist left who frankly scare the hell out of me. This country has become a place where people are afraid to express themselves and that way lies tyranny. Sorry for the manifesto, but I had to get this off my chest. Sempi Fi USMC 1971-1973

We did hire one…not a GOPER but nominally a Republican, and as close to a streetfighter as ever you will find in the ranks of politics.

And I’m planning to offer him a four-year extension on his original contract.

I only hope he, and we, are up to it.
