Highly qualified kittehs everywhere are endlessly amused that humans think they are in charge.

Dogs have owners, kittehs have staff.

Humans domesticated dogs roughly six millennia ago, in ancient Sumeria.

In Egypt (Khem), cats thought it over for a thousand years, and decided that it made more sense for them to domesticate humans.

(I think my comment got censored because I included a photo link, so I’ll submit the comment here and the link in a separate posting afterward.)

On Route 160 west of Durango, CO, there is a surprisingly pyramidal mountain that has a “Sybian”-like structure where the point should be. The Stargate jokes just write themselves.

Our Tux us 16.5 years old, fat and happy and definitely views the wife and I as staff, just like her sister from the same litter who believes she is the Queen on the household. We humor them (I think).

Cats are by far the more intelligent of the pet species.
When was the last time you saw a dozen cats pulling a sled through a blizzard ?

Once upon a time, cats were worshiped as gods…
    They’ve never forgotten this.

Yes sir OA, that sled quip has been around a while, and useful both for its humor and its truth, but of course that’s not a measure of intelligence but of laziness, as apparently that affirmative action crap has had its effect on felines the same as so many of the upright critters.

Canines do have more than double the neurons as cats so they have the edge in building blocks of intelligence, but just as with those uprights, it’s not about what God gave you but what you do with it.

If you live around my wifey you best love them both, or at least not dislike or mistreat them as that would get you gone or hurt. So two cats (three until recently when old Felix had to leave us) and three dogs, two chihuahuas and one old dachshund; they skew the findings because apparently the doxie got all the brain neurons of all three of them. The cats are so different one to the next with one who would be a great candidate for the , and another, a Maine Coon rescue who exhibits characteristics of both species, loving, loyal, directly responsive like a good dog, and aloof, independent, and a badass alphacat when necessary.

So I dunno, I just go along to get along, the old dachsie dearly loves me and my son from whence we adopted him when he got a new house and a new baby that just was not ideal for them or the dog, and of course I love him right back. The girl Maine Coon adores me as well, knows the sound of my truck and comes running when I get home, and follows me and the dog on our walks at night to protect us from any would-be troublemaker cats. So if the old lady should dump me after tolerating me for more than fifty years, it will be me, Ozzy, and Babykitty on our own…no damn chihuahuas or pissy kitties for us.

It’s often said that ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ but in reality, laziness is the mother of all things.
Life evolves to gain the most from the least expenditure of energy.
Or as I like to call it ‘field expediency’ 😉

My old lab was probably the most intelligent dig I’ve ever seen, not in the ‘I can do lots of tricks’ way but more the way he could analyze a situation, put forth the least amount of effort and gain completely satisfactory results. He’d fetch something exactly three times then felt he’d had enough exercise and would drop whatever you’d thrown just far enough out of reach that you’d have to get up and fetch it yourself while he laid down and watched 😉

      It’s a hint.
The cats are pushing transhumanism in anticipation of them being next.
They want wings so they can hunt birds and they want thumbs so they can open their own food cans.

My all black but a tiny priest’s neck tab kitteh is so territorial, when it concerns me, that he sits between me and whomever is visiting. He does allow Spousal Unit routine close contact with me, albiet grudgingly. Only one other cat (also black) has done this in my life.

The wife and I live at 4500 feet on the base of the Winchester Mtns. in Cochise County. Had seven cats when we moved here 9 years ago. The one still with us is a pointer. Just yesterday it was moving to keep the Lady from the corner of the garage where the bike trailer is. She looked around and saw the Mojave under the trailer and from ten feet away it already had its head and tail a foot in the air mouth open and the black n white tail buzzing. I heard the yell from in the house and came out with the .45 Taurus 5 shot. Got the one with a 7 inch barrel just for this occasion. The first round took the brain out from inside the mouth. It was still moving with menace so the second round removed the rest of the head. Kept wriggling for over an hour. When ready there’s 2 rounds of #4 or #6 followed by slugs for javalina. Usually pretty quiet around here, though. Skittles – yea, that long ago – got steak for supper last night.

The distribution is in capable paws with the DBD kittuhs. Had to put down mine and my late wife’s old hand (paw) 3 years ago after a long, happy 18 years. Of course my sister in law and 2 nieces offered to get uncle Gary a new kitty but of course I needed time to mourn the goodest girl and some health issues a year later meant any new cat would definitely outlive me.
Took my SIL and nieces up on that offer this summer after it became apparent that the tales of Smudge The Destroyer had become nothing but stories mouse moms tell bad mouse children and needed to be reminded this is a no go zone but after my eldest niece agreed to give the kittuh a new home if the ol ticker gives it up on me and that the cat be at least 2 to 3 years old as not to imprint on me solely ( Smudge was mommy’s girl and believe me I saw that cat mourn as hard as I did) but with those conditions met Gowron has been snuzzling, delivering 3am attack chopper purr O doom in my ear and putting the fear of God in the local rodent population for the last couple of months.
