As I said in my comment downthread. Skye has had her chances and made her choices. Now. she starts influencing or interfering with the babies with that shit? She’s dead to me. 🙁 JTC Jan 04 2019 at 3:56 pm “Third time’s the charm” is accurate in the context, but not specific enough to suit me. So I’d prefer to say “Three strikes and yer out” and “Three outs and yer gone.” Sorry Skye, this looks like your last out…you’re gone. And as much as it pains me to say as I remember once again that incredible upside-down nekkid spread-eagle that used to show up on the masthead under the old format, I gotta have the whole package…her beauty is skin deep (and is very deep with this one), but stupid goes clean to her bones. And my bone too. Delilah T Jan 04 2019 at 12:15 am As a friend told me: Sie werden die Gefahr erst sehen, wenn sie verschluckt werden,* It is insidious. Pol Pot did it quite well. Mao was an expert at it. Stalin was even better. *They won’t see the danger until it swallows them. interventor Jan 04 2019 at 1:27 am Mao holds the record! RegT Jan 04 2019 at 3:25 am Yes, Mao was the winner of the Democide Sweepstakes. According to https://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/20TH.HTM. China at 77,000,000 and Russia at 62,000,000. I have read elsewhere (can’t recall where at the moment) that it is believed China killed in excess of 100,000,000 of its own people – exclusive of wars. JTC Jan 04 2019 at 12:48 pm How many more indirectly for Mao? Didn’t people kill their newborn daughters to keep their one kid quota open for a boy? To what degree can homicidal psychopathic “leadership” ultimately cause it to be endemic among the drones? We can study the history of that level of evil in those cites, but it might be a question we should also ponder right here right now. Do you doubt that those who run the left right now want you dead? How about those that have designs on running it? Commies ain’t done yet. Their new faces are infiltrating our gov, our media, our indoctrination centers, and our indentured. And the muzzies ain’t even started. Well they have, going back in time measured in centuries, not just years. Though they weren’t mentioned here, they are by far the bigger threat. They want us dead. And they are perfectly willing to kill us. But first they need to disarm us. If we let that happen, they will get their wish. Of course then they will die too without us. But by then it won’t matter. Did the millions slaughtered in the historical references above take up arms against their oppressors and murderers? JJ cooper Jan 04 2019 at 1:15 pm Myths make society. Their myths are destructive. I have been reading Yuval Harari’s SAPIENS: A Brief History Of Mankind and I recommend it highly. JJC Joseph Meyer Jan 04 2019 at 1:44 pm Most estimates I have read place the Muslim body count at around half a billion. So far they’re ahead, although they had a head start. Bill Jan 04 2019 at 11:34 pm Woah. I’m stealing that line. Sums it up exactly. Scary times. DCE Jan 04 2019 at 12:16 am The only true reason socialism doesn’t work? It’s because people are just plain ornery and they don’t like people who are stupider than they are telling how they have to live. It’s called human nature. So it all boils down to this: Socialism would work just fine if it weren’t for the people. So endeth the lesson. billrla Jan 04 2019 at 2:02 pm DCE: Yes, you have nailed the fatal flaw of socialism. Human nature. If only we could get ride of human nature. Thus, all the killing. If you cannot take the human nature out of humans, then, by golly, get rid of the humans. John Jan 04 2019 at 2:04 pm I will take issue with this assertion. Although what you say is true, the truth is much deeper than that. All life, from the simplest virus to the most complex life form you can name, must of necessity exploit its environment in order to continue its line. The virus does this by maximizing reproduction and transmissability. We do it by gaming the system we find ourselves in. This spells death to any command economy. The perpetual onslaught of every member of a society on the “system” will assure its eventual downfall, with a lot of victims left dead in a ditch along the way. The reason Capitalism is so successful is because it imitates nature in regard to rewarding the successful and destroying the unsuccessful thus making room for the new challengers. The only place in nature we see Socialism successfully adopted is where parents, of whatever species, deliberately sacrifice themselves to their children, or at best first cousins. Socialists love to point to the the beehive as a role model while not taking into account the fact that all the bees of a hive are sisters and will all die in the service of a very few that will carry on the gene line. There is a reason there is only _one_ Queen. Old Codger Jan 05 2019 at 10:45 am Socialism doesn’t work because it attempts to go against a basic principle of life (at least as it is on this planet). That principle is summed up by the question “What’s in it for me?” So far as I can see, no living thing does anything without expecting a payback. Green plants do not photosynthesize sugar and give off oxygen because they want to help the world. They synthesize sugar for their own metabolism – which BTW – requires oxygen every bit as much as ours does. Building and maintaining a dam requires a huge investment in time and energy and beavers do not build them for the fun of it. A dam provides a clan of beavers with a safe place to sleep and raise their young (the entrance is hidden under water) and a place to soak wood to make it easier to consume and digest (sorta like cooking it). Cheetahs don’t run 60 mph for fun, they do it to catch their food. All live appears to operate on the principle of “what’s in it for me?” Socialism operates completely contrary to that principle. JTC Jan 04 2019 at 12:38 am I’d be supportive of an anti socialism movement instead…antisoc. No rallys or riots, no masks or black mao smocks…just a simple motto; leave me the fuck alone. NotYetInACamp Jan 04 2019 at 2:38 am And one more motto, or, rather, principle principle: Party on. We give great Party (ies). Why? Because we can! We are more fun than they are and they just can’t stand it. And wise people know not to mess with the Party. Bill G Jan 04 2019 at 5:44 am It’s occurred to me that Trump 2020 could use the motto ‘Keep Everything Great’, and then the rallies would be ‘KEG’ Parties. billrla Jan 04 2019 at 2:03 pm Bill G: I’m in. BYOK. JTC Jan 04 2019 at 5:16 pm Party on! KEG! Now I gotta get another T-Shirt! And maybe another too for the somewhat dark but deadly accurate: LMTFAOIWKYGYD! Coeurmaeghan Jan 04 2019 at 9:17 pm I must be too slow for the room but I just cannot get the last 5 words or perhaps only the last three. JTC Jan 04 2019 at 11:58 pm A favorite of the cornpone sheriff of nearby Polk County FL… Do this or that “and we will kill you grave yard dead” Perfect in this context as: Leave Me The Fuck Alone Or I Will Kill You Grave Yard Dead! Fronk! Jan 04 2019 at 10:25 am Like! Old Codger Jan 05 2019 at 10:49 am Or to put it less obscenely, “Leave us the hell alone!” AKA LUTHA (Damn! but I miss that old Dutchman!) JTC Jan 04 2019 at 12:46 am Guess I was wrong about the redemption of Skye. While the kid can hold her own I have no patience for intentionally arguing against what she knows Sam and Zed have worked so hard to teach their children by word and deed…blood is thicker than water, but parent/child blood is much thicker than the wayward sibling kind. Send her ass back to whence she came. If I recall correctly this will be her third and final -and quite possibly fatal- out. So be it. Killer little bod though, such a waste. RegT Jan 04 2019 at 3:37 am I agree, she is attempting to subvert the training that Kiko is receiving from her parents in thinking and questioning and testing her assumptions and conclusions against the real world. Skye just cannot let go of the “socialism just hasn’t been done right” bullshite. I don’t believe her character is able to distinguish the difference between reality and wishful thinking. I’m guessing she believes Antifa just isn’t gentle and nice enough to produce “true” socialism. JTC, a frontal lobotomy done on her might cure the problem well enough for you to enjoy experiencing her “charms”, but I’d prefer a less lovely lass who possessed a real brain. You are right, though. What a waste. Henry Jan 04 2019 at 4:52 am If Skye were a true student of socialism, she’d be able to name many more than three examples… and rack up that many more failures. cmblake6 Jan 04 2019 at 12:53 am Idiot. Bitch. It. Fails. EVERY. BLOODY. TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!! It may work for ants, but humans aren’t ants. Old Codger Jan 05 2019 at 10:53 am It only works for ants – and bees – because it’s hard coded into their genome. And even the “What’s in it for me?” principle obtains. The Queen doesn’t lay eggs because she loves being a mama. She does it so she can stay alive. The workers forage themselves to death but they still get to eat part of what they bring in. tjm Jan 04 2019 at 1:07 am Thoughts for the first day of Demoncrats back in control of the House: Saying that communism is the system that killed 200 million people in the 20th Century grossly understates its evil. It ignores the 2 BILLION people communism enslaved. Anytime a multimillionaire calls for socialism – a philosophy that, if actually implemented, would at a minimum take 98% of his (or her, in such cases as Ms. Teresa Heinz-Kerry and Ms. Nancy Pelosi) annual income in taxes, possibly a similarly large fraction of their total wealth (and, if implemented by a charming character such as Vladimir Lenin, probably also their lives) – you know that either they are insane, or are palming some card which will end with them becoming one of the de facto elites with even more and broader social and financial control than they already exercise. Insane, or hypocritical psychopathic control freaks – but I repeat myself. Moral: ALWAYS follow the money. Marx said that communism was supposed to end with the withering away of the state. Instead, it inevitably ends with an “elite” composed of the revolutionary cabal that introduced communism, with the balance of ordinary citizenry in de facto, if not de jure, slavery to them. Just ask Pyotr Kropotkin. Or the citizens of Europe who are now discovering this phase of their relationship of the European Union and the national leaders who sold them out, and are finding their chains rather less comfortable than Sam Adams wished on them. –TJM I am convinced that most of this country’s problems could be corrected if we stopped attempting to educate people beyond their intelligence. John Jan 04 2019 at 2:29 pm Karl Marx himself contended that his system was “scientific” that is it was testable, and by his own standards it was tested. And found wanting. Those who still count themselves Marxist today spit in Marx’s face by continuing to insist on ignoring the painfully evident shortcomings of Socialism. The Post Modern Nihilists of today compound the sin by insisting that perpetual tribalist warfare will “somehow” lead to Utopia. This without even attempting to trace some kind of path to it, only that if we are all “politically correct” will this come about, and ignoring the fact that “intersectionality” itself creates conflict. The Founders were right all along. The only justice to be found is justice for the individual. The only Rights to be found are those of the individual. The State exists to serve the Governed, not the other way around. interventor Jan 04 2019 at 3:09 pm Once more, repeating the same thing over and over, expecting a different result is the very definition of insanity, or a liberal. WayneM Jan 04 2019 at 1:13 am Utopian thinking always end badly. The assorted collectivist philosophies are predicated on golden intentions… and the road to Hell is very well paved. interventor Jan 04 2019 at 1:30 am With stones formed from crushed human bones! Delilah T Jan 04 2019 at 10:24 pm The road to Irkutsk in Yakutia is called the Road of Bones for a good reason. Bill G Jan 04 2019 at 5:46 am The way of the transgressor is hard. Probably because it’s so damn crowded. Joseph Meyer Jan 04 2019 at 1:46 pm Were it not for the utopians, we would live in a utopia! Inkstain Jan 04 2019 at 1:51 am So… How does one go about calculating opportunity cost and pricing risk under “real socialism”? I’ve yet to find a socialist with an answer. I don’t mean a good answer, or even a bad answer, I mean any kind of answer. At best a deer in the headlights look. John Jan 04 2019 at 2:39 pm Little wonder you can’t find one. The only way you remain Socialist is by studiously avoiding the question. It might amuse you to know the Thomas Sowell started his academic career as a Marxist economist. When he lost his job in academia and had to earn a living in the real world he discovered the error of his ways on a practical level. Tagg Jan 04 2019 at 1:53 am Just wishful thinking? No honey. Wishful thinking is socialism at its best behavior, before the reality of its deceptive nature takes control. After that, only fukwits, fools, and evil wanabe tryants give it any thought as being a viable path into a future of anything less than hell itself. kadaka Jan 04 2019 at 2:20 am Sandpaper + cordless drill holding too tight pivot pin -> satisfying productive night, eventually. The definitions are getting confusing again. Communism has government owning and controlling everything and the people gladly work for the greater good and essentials. Socialism has government controlling everything while taxing “the rich” until everyone at least has certain minimums of defined essentials, and the people gladly work for “upgrades” above the minimums, with “nationalized” industries when government thinks they can run them better. Ain’t that no longer how it goes? warhorse Jan 04 2019 at 2:59 am someone needs to scoop skye up by the scruff of her neck and the seat of her pants and show her the door. socialism is inherently evil. period. you can’t have “good socialism”. you can mean well but it always ends with re-education camps and death. How well it works out was recently seen in a GameStop store. A decent education in history would show the “This time, we’ll do it right” crowd that their sort are among the first ones to go to the wall once the Beloved Leader takes over to insure it’s done right. eon Jan 04 2019 at 7:21 am Socialism never “works” because by its very nature, it attracts those who seek to exploit others for their own advantage and self-exaltation. In this, it is identical to feudalism. Also in that both operate on the principle of rule by force, either threatened or actual. The first socialist state was Greece in the period lading up to the Peloponnesian War. Athens had conquered enough of the other city-states that it could impose its rule, that rule being by its “enlightened elite” making decisions for everyone else “for the good of all” and calling it “democracy”. Their power was backed up by the Athenian army and navy. It worked very well for Athens, not so well for the “everyone else”. And it stopped working for Athens when they demanded Corinth and Sparta surrender to their “enlightened rule”. Corinth and Sparta said “we don’t care what you do to everybody else, just leave us alone”. Athens couldn’t do that. Their dogma required their absolute rule over everybody else. they wen to war to conquer those last two city-states, and those last two city-states basically destroyed them. They spent twenty years under the rule of the Ten Tyrants- appointed by Sparta. (Moral; When the memetic badasses of your society tell you “leave us alone”, leave them alone.) Nevertheless, several generations later, Plato was bemoaning the fact that the Spartans and Corinthians just hadn’t understood what a great deal Athens had “offered” them. While also bemoaning the fact that a generation before himself, the Greeks as a united nation had defeated the Persians who sought to conquer them and force them to submit to the rule of a “divine god-king”. Which he saw as the rule of a “philosopher-king”, that is somebody inherently smarter than everybody else. Somebody like Plato, in other words. It’s no a coincidence that Plato’s The Republic is the foundation of modern socialism. Nor is it a coincidence that it’s one of the nastiest examples of a “Dictatorship of the Chosen” ever conceived by one sick, sociopathic, power-mad son-of-a-bitch. You look at Skye and you see Plato’s ghost still trying to convince everybody else that he was right all along. Incidentally, toward the end of his life, Plato went to Rhodes at the invitation of its king, to “help” him rule, said king not liking the ideas of the rest of Greece. By all accounts, it ended badly for both of them. You see, while the king of Rhodes had an army to enforce his will, the Rhodian people still had swords, spears, and etc., just like the army did. And they outnumbered the army. The Spartans weren’t the only ones who believed in the wisdom of “molon labe”. clear ether eon The 300 Jan 04 2019 at 10:52 am The Founders understood this. That’s why they decided on a republic instead of a direct democracy. Then they learned from the Roman Republic and Empire that government needs to be divided to keep it from becoming too powerful. Shame there are so many now who think of The Constitution as irrelevant because it was written in the 18th century. John Jan 04 2019 at 2:54 pm All the while not recognizing that we have only devolved rather the evolved in the evaluation and practice of political theory. Probably due to Socialist sabotage of the education system. cmblake6 Jan 04 2019 at 7:35 pm BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DCE Jan 04 2019 at 8:22 am “Capitalism is man exploiting man. John Jan 04 2019 at 2:56 pm Aren’t they lucky arrogance is not a capital crime. ExNuke Jan 04 2019 at 10:42 am A couple of Heinlein quotes that seem appropiate: Bread and Circuses’ is the cancer of democracy, the fatal disease for which there is no cure. Democracy often works beautifully at first. But once a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader—the barbarians enter Rome.” “Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.” Jerry The Geek Jan 04 2019 at 11:22 am It’s so funny … Socialists always say “It could work, if it was only done RIGHT!” But they never seem to learn how to Do Socialism “Right”. They think they know how to Dp Spcoa;os, ROGJT/ Be afraid; be VERY afraid! RonF Jan 04 2019 at 1:02 pm Socialism will work only if people are perfect. They are not. The American experiment in self-government recognizes this by dividing up power into 3 categories and giving each a check on the other. The Founders understood this because they were all believers in God (mostly Christian, some Deists) and understood the concept of Original Sin and that men not only were NOT perfect but could not be made so. Our present ruling class is mostly irreligious, thinks that men can be made perfect – or at least that they, as the ruling class, are close enough and are thus fit to rule over people instead of govern for them. The hubris is astounding. Henry Jan 04 2019 at 2:31 pm “The American experiment in self-government recognizes this by dividing up power into 3 categories and giving each a check on the other.” A flawed idea, similar to telling a sheepherder suffering fro wolf predation that if he were only to introduce rattlers and bobcats into the ecosystem, they would keep each other busy and leave him and his sheep alone. RonF Jan 05 2019 at 8:31 pm Not a good analogy. The sheep don’t get to elect and replace the wolves and the rattlers and wolves and rattlers don’t get to appoint the bobcats. GWB Jan 04 2019 at 10:03 pm Our present technocratic class isn’t really irreligious. They just think we should all be worshipping them.
