“Borschst”? Beet soup? Or am I missing something in the (mis)translation?

Sometimes I wonder if English is even my first language.

The women of DD get points for wearing pointy boots……..and little else.
And I know the female readers of DBD would say the same for the dudes.
    Equal play.

Chris, glad to see that either your computer is back from repair, and in good order (no files lost)…..OR…..you’ve got a work-around. Either way, thank you.

CM, if you use the nasty scary black plastic heat ray guns that a friend of mine is concocting stories around, please just make sure yours don’t work, ’cause they’re made in North Korea. 🙂 We can all share technology!

Yeah, I got no control of ads. It’s typical that opposing views will advertise on their ‘enemies’ sites, though I am pro-choice in certain cases.

Pro-choice in all things. Another case of leftists twisting perfectly functional language to their own evil purposes.

When they say it, what they mean is pro-murder. Not the same thing.

Norm, I was so dazzled by the air show I mentioned below that I forgot all about the big gun show at the convention center and the BBQ fest at the fairgrounds, all three within a few miles of each other today in Lakeland, FL under clear sapphire skies and mid-70’s temps…a red-state, red-neck, deplorable trifecta; it don’t get no better than that!

Points for boots, yes. Points ON boots, even better.

And maybe a Stetson. And a cowgirl holster.

    And that’s about it.

I can’t wear pointy toed cowgirl boots, they don’t fit. I do have a pair pf red and turqoise square toed mens cowboy boots in 9 1/2. I still need a thigh holster for my Beretta. Don’t need a Stetson, already have one.

Sitting in the parking lot of Target waiting for my girl, right across the road is the big Sun n Fun fly-in…Over the last hour and a half I’ve been treated to five-across sky writers, stunt planes and an assortment of WWII birds making their parade pass…but none of that, none of it, compares to the Blue Angels display directly over my head right now…those four planes appear to be inches apart as they do their ballet across the sky, then turn straight up almost out of sight, and directly into a nosedive, flying as one.

How the hell do they do that? Damn here they come again, nose to tail at rooftop level. Awesome!

The way they do it, Thunderbirds as well, is the same way musicians get into Carnegie Hall – practice, practice, practice.

Also, two clicks of nose-down trim really smooths out the formation work. ‘Course, the right arm gets sore until the constant pull on the stick becomes natural. Oh, BTW, the Blues pride themselves on maintaining 36″ separation between wingtip and canopy when in the diamond and delta formations.

Their entire performance – from walk-down to shut-down — is choreographed to the split second and well worth a front row seat to watch.

      JTC,

Reminds me of the 1st ever Gary, Indiana air show.

It wasn’t the biggest airshow but it took place over the south shore of Lake Michigan near the Indiana Dunes. The two really cool things about it for me were these:

They had a P-51 Mustang do some aerobatics followed by an F-15 Eagle. When the F-15 was finished the P-51 came back and they did a few formation passes. The P-51 looked so small compared to the F-15 – I really wish I had had a camera with me to get some pictures.

The show ended with a flyby of a B1 Lancer. Can you say Loud?

      L O U D !

Car alarms for blocks went off as it flew out over the lake.

It turned over the lake and came back to shore under burner but not quite Mach.

      Efffing LOUD!!!!!

As it left the area alarms of all sort were going off for miles.

      Absolutely cool!

      The sound of freedom….

Raptor and Lightning doing solo performances too. But this is reportedly the last performance of these amazing Hornets, and what a performance it is. Entertainment, awe-inspiring pride, and a glimpse of history, right here right now as the Angels play a game of head-on chicken right in front of me. Sigh.

The three best things in life are:
    A good landing,
    A good orgasm, and
    A good bowel movement.
The night aircraft carrier landing, is one of the few
opportunities in life where you get to experience
all three at the same time.

I saw a Navy flier on tv one time who said he
would try to explain what a night carrier landing
was like so maybe a civilian could understand:
” put a postage stamp in the middle of your
living room floor, turn off all the lights, put your
hands behind your back, and dive onto the stamp
and try to hit it with your tongue.”
    I know, silly.
