I wouldn’t mind seeing Zed in the Oval Orifice, if I didn’t know he’d snap and be setting up a hide on rhe DOJ, IRS, etc….Secret Service would never know, if Jo ‘blorped’ into Zed, while he went “hunting”…

It has been said over history that the best people for office are he ones that don’t want it,or who consider themselves as not that type of person.

I have often said that desire for the office of president (in particular) should be a disqualification

Yet another feather in the cap of Ron DeSantis.
When he was asked if he was going to run for President in 2024 he said a qualified no. He had to take care of Florida first.

The President should be dragged kickin’ and screamin’ into office.

“If you want the job you can’t have it”

But that’s not what Adams said is it?

Change “capable” to “desirous” and I might agree. But as quoted it means something quite different, and I would not agree at all.

Unless he was saying that lust for the position for its power, prestige, or for its own sake negates the need for the office itself, in which case I might.

        JTC;

Adams was postulating that to be elected President of the Galaxy (like Zaphod Beeblebrox) would require a consummate showman with the morals of pond scum and the ethics of a weasel, who would say or do literally anything to win.

But that once in office, his main job would not to be to wield power but to distract everyone’s attention from those who actually ran things.

Keep in mind that he wrote The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in 1978, and at the time he was well aware of the likes of Jimmy Carter and James Callaghan. Whose version of the “special relationship” was rather like Ambrose Bierce’s definition of marriage, one in which each participant sensed that they were dominant due to the stupidity of the other party.

To judge from Biden and Johnson and now Truss, not much has changed.

As for The One, he’s somewhere between Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz and Gag Halfrunt. He could do a lot more damage if he were even half as smart as he thinks he is.

        cheers

It has been said that we would get a more representative, Congress, city commission, State legislature, and such by randomly picking citizens from those resident with phones.
Choosing a person with Zed’s apparent given characteristics would be superior to that. It also would work for the Office of President, and for governors.
But it would not be Constitution. So never mind.”Smoking gun” Joe Biden was not chosen constitutionally.
What the heck is that all about? You never know.

So by Zed’s words should we deduce that a q critical if horribly sick qualification of potus is the infliction or desire for not just pedophilia but incest?

Thinking back, he may not be wrong, and that explains rather a lot.
