The American Volunteer Group had quite a battle record for their short time. I hope the contributors here are up to the task at hand.

Things like that showing what they were fighting for got a lot of men through a war…Today ? charges all around, careers terminated with extreme prejudice, firing squads on the runway buttons…but draw a 400lb hairy thing of indeterminate gender and blue hair and you’re good to go…morale is a dirty subject to be avoided at all costs.

While all crews around my Dad’s plane had theirs named, with all kind of Chris-like quality art and suggestive names, his B-29 (tail number 42-24580) remained without as the officers (including Dad) couldn’t decide on anything. The ground crew got so embarassed (“frikkin’ ossifers”) that one maintenance cycle they just named it “Undecided” and that’s how the 4 officers got it back. And so it stuck. Got the tale, not from the unit history which was pretty candid as it was, but from an oral history taken of one of the maintenance NCOs. Can you imagine being unnamed through the whole CBI campaign? Chris should’ve been on Tinian Spring 1945.

They’re sayign the quiet part out loud now..no fear or repercussions in the media anymore, since they started paying them there hasn’t been heard a discouraging word…and now it’s illegal for the common peon to say anything remotely disparaging against the gov’t..you can be fined or jailed for making an observation…how long before what you say to a friend on the street is surreptitiously monitored, reported and punished ? stalin wished he had the power a PM does up here.

“The Senate Ethics Officer yesterday would not say whether a Liberal appointee’s vulgar Twitter posts breached a 2019 citation on appropriate conduct on the internet. Senator Charles Adler (Man.) in his official social media account posted a series of insults about the Official Opposition: “The minimum standard of conduct tolerated in the community is not necessarily the same standard of behaviour that a senator must adhere to.”

Holy hell, you just made my Tuesday way hotter. That gorgeous nose art on the fighter has me squirming in my seat. Sam’s practically begging to get taken for a wild ride at altitude.

I can’t stop picturing myself painted on the side of a plane!
