Too true; too many of “our” party are hand-in-glove with the democrats, only working on self-enrichment via Big Gov.

The Founders expected the House of Representatives to turn over practically every two years. The telegraph foiled that notion and led to career politicians in _both_ houses.
      Now we have the Internet.
I suspect our only way out of the career politician nightmare is to mandate Approval Voting (otherwise known as Non Partisan Voting here in NC) to cut down on the tribalism and enhance the influence of voters who actually know their candidates.
Eliminating that letter behind their names will work wonders for objectivity.

Straight popular vote then? Who you been talking to? No tribes or affiliations or partisan positions? Yeah that’ll work…those are called platforms and its what determines the vote…fuck yeah, let ’em fight it out in public, and the internet is mostly functioning to enhance, not repress that exposure and exchange right now. The challenge is to keep that message delivery system non-partisan, not the messenger or the message itself.

The real answer is turning the m’er f’ers out automatically in 2-5 years; fight it out for support, partisan as hell, go in fresh and do what good or damage they can in the public eye, they would get to have their partisan battles and cast their partisan votes for better or worse…and then get the hell out and make way for the next group of PARTISAN gladiators.

Such a system would inherently eliminate the lifers that infect gov regardless of claimed affiliation because their only real constituency is themselves. And just maybe a lot more real people would take it upon themselves to go into the breach for the unabashed and unapologetic benefit of their Tribe and their Republic.

“The real answer is turning the m’er f’ers out automatically in 2-5 years”
Bring back dueling. Hell, make it mandatory if they want a second term.

A hint of what could be done to keep the competent office holders dovetails with Approval Voting _IF_ an office holder _must_ vacate the office at the end of term.
Approval Voting allows the former office holder to run for any other office, or perhaps all other offices he might want and then he must take his pick of what he might win. You notice the scheme allows automatic replacement by the runner up. Thus he continues proving his worth in government office, which, in practical terms, is just administration.
The trick here is that those who would influence the candidate must now spread their influence among many candidates.
This would put a premium on the candidate’s _general reputation_ with the electorate, and so the cream rises to the top.
Or at least that’s the theory.

Ah!…The joyful rhetoric of cam-PAIN ads 90 days before an election. I am still inclined to fall back on the theory I developed in the Army. It was the pin head theory- The further people got up the chain of command, the more pointy their heads got. When they get to the top they become pinheads. Of course that was when Jimmy was our Commander in Chief.

That incredible irony and exposure of the true agenda when they will viciously attack and destroy the most successful of their primary claimed constituencies because of his political beliefs and American loyalties?

Surely that proves to any sentient-being-in-waiting that their slavery lives not in the annals of history but in the anals of the kakistocracy of the left who will use you up and throw you away when they are done with you -or, as evidenced here, if you dare rise up and have voice against the oppressors who enslave you.

IMHO the most effective counter to the Left is to embarrass them with direct action against their wishes.
If they boycott somebody, buy into it.
If they cancel someone, hire them with a bonus.
If they rail against someone’s character, remind the world that Disgust was the political fuel of the Nazi Party that led to the Holocaust.

Black Lives Matter is why white men freed the slaves across the world and in the USA, as much as they could. It cost many lives, much treasure and fortune were spent, and much time was used in that honorable battle for the rights of mankind.

We need to be shouting it from the rooftops, towns halls and pulpits that everyone on the Planet is descended from Slaves. We need to shout that Slavery still exists and has yet to be totally wiped out.

Did you know there was a draft of the Constitution that OUTLAWED Slavery here in the U.S.A. Thomas Jefferson wanted all Men and Women to be FREE.

Thomas Jefferson wrote a draft of the Declaration of Independence that ended slavery.
        https://www.history.com/news/declaration-of-independence-deleted-anti-slavery-clause-jefferson
In his initial draft, Jefferson blamed Britain’s King George for his role in creating and perpetuating the transatlantic slave trade—which he describes, in so many words, as a crime against humanity.

He has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating its most sacred rights of life & liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither.

Jefferson went on to call the institution of slavery “piratical warfare,” “execrable commerce” and an “assemblage of horrors.” He then criticized the crown for

“exciting those very people to rise in arms among us, and to purchase that liberty of which he has deprived them, by murdering the people on whom he also obtruded them: thus paying off former crimes committed against the Liberties of one people, with crimes which he urges them to commit against the lives of another.”

John, your observation is right on. Since the overuse of Nazi references when conservatives are attacked, everyone is dismissive of those references. However, as a student of that era, we are experiencing the very same fascism that was employed by the Nazi regime. Brown Shirts are are now black, boycotts are regularly imposed by those who want all dissenting opinions squelched. No one thought it would lead to what it led to. “History that is forgotten often repeats itself.”
