The late great Boots Randolph described the democrats perfectly.

Too true; too many of “our” party are hand-in-glove with the democrats, only working on self-enrichment via Big Gov.

Those who can, do. Those who cannot,go into government so they do not have to.

      (‘nough said?)

At first glance I read “Big Cow”.

      I like the filling. 😉

  • July 16, 2020 at 6:47 am

The elites and their ilk surely make for rotten guests too … as the wise Ben Franklin once put it:

“Guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days.”

    • July 16, 2020 at 12:08 pm

The Founders expected the House of Representatives to turn over practically every two years. The telegraph foiled that notion and led to career politicians in _both_ houses.
      Now we have the Internet.
I suspect our only way out of the career politician nightmare is to mandate Approval Voting (otherwise known as Non Partisan Voting here in NC) to cut down on the tribalism and enhance the influence of voters who actually know their candidates.
Eliminating that letter behind their names will work wonders for objectivity.

      • July 16, 2020 at 2:12 pm

Straight popular vote then? Who you been talking to? No tribes or affiliations or partisan positions? Yeah that’ll work…those are called platforms and its what determines the vote…fuck yeah, let ’em fight it out in public, and the internet is mostly functioning to enhance, not repress that exposure and exchange right now. The challenge is to keep that message delivery system non-partisan, not the messenger or the message itself.

The real answer is turning the m’er f’ers out automatically in 2-5 years; fight it out for support, partisan as hell, go in fresh and do what good or damage they can in the public eye, they would get to have their partisan battles and cast their partisan votes for better or worse…and then get the hell out and make way for the next group of PARTISAN gladiators.

Such a system would inherently eliminate the lifers that infect gov regardless of claimed affiliation because their only real constituency is themselves. And just maybe a lot more real people would take it upon themselves to go into the breach for the unabashed and unapologetic benefit of their Tribe and their Republic.

      • July 16, 2020 at 3:52 pm

“The real answer is turning the m’er f’ers out automatically in 2-5 years”
Bring back dueling. Hell, make it mandatory if they want a second term.

      • July 16, 2020 at 6:42 pm

A hint of what could be done to keep the competent office holders dovetails with Approval Voting _IF_ an office holder _must_ vacate the office at the end of term.
Approval Voting allows the former office holder to run for any other office, or perhaps all other offices he might want and then he must take his pick of what he might win. You notice the scheme allows automatic replacement by the runner up. Thus he continues proving his worth in government office, which, in practical terms, is just administration.
The trick here is that those who would influence the candidate must now spread their influence among many candidates.
This would put a premium on the candidate’s _general reputation_ with the electorate, and so the cream rises to the top.
Or at least that’s the theory.

Why don’t we herd like the left?

Short answer is,”Cause we ain’t sheep!”

    • July 16, 2020 at 4:51 pm

Shepherds more likely. Watching over the flock.
      Taking the predators out.
Collecting the Bounties and tacking the hides to the side of the barn.

Brainwashed to spouting slogans and propaganda talking points that leave no place to listen to anything else leaves only the chains they put on themselves.
Their Masters will control their lives.

    • July 16, 2020 at 10:28 am

And they’re all the happier having outsourced the worries to someone else (theoretically) so they can live in the moment.

  • July 16, 2020 at 10:27 am

Ah!…The joyful rhetoric of cam-PAIN ads 90 days before an election. I am still inclined to fall back on the theory I developed in the Army. It was the pin head theory- The further people got up the chain of command, the more pointy their heads got. When they get to the top they become pinheads. Of course that was when Jimmy was our Commander in Chief.

So all the Republicans are good for is licking pussy..cats…

  • July 16, 2020 at 12:06 pm

This is just too damn funny…look at that old orange fox grinning at the camera!

Going to Publix today to pick up some cans of leches negros and 30-bean soup. Not just to make a point but because Goya products are awesome and I love me some Spanish food.

    • July 16, 2020 at 12:11 pm

That incredible irony and exposure of the true agenda when they will viciously attack and destroy the most successful of their primary claimed constituencies because of his political beliefs and American loyalties?

Surely that proves to any sentient-being-in-waiting that their slavery lives not in the annals of history but in the anals of the kakistocracy of the left who will use you up and throw you away when they are done with you -or, as evidenced here, if you dare rise up and have voice against the oppressors who enslave you.

    • July 16, 2020 at 12:19 pm

IMHO the most effective counter to the Left is to embarrass them with direct action against their wishes.
If they boycott somebody, buy into it.
If they cancel someone, hire them with a bonus.
If they rail against someone’s character, remind the world that Disgust was the political fuel of the Nazi Party that led to the Holocaust.

      • July 16, 2020 at 4:54 pm

You forgot Avarice. They covet the goods of others and their lives.
Everyone loses if this idiocy continues.

Once you get used to the tapas concept, the food in Spain is actually quite good.

Dims can be herded like sheep because that’s exactly what they’ve been trained to be.

Black Lives Matter is why white men freed the slaves across the world and in the USA, as much as they could. It cost many lives, much treasure and fortune were spent, and much time was used in that honorable battle for the rights of mankind.

    • July 16, 2020 at 5:01 pm

We need to be shouting it from the rooftops, towns halls and pulpits that everyone on the Planet is descended from Slaves. We need to shout that Slavery still exists and has yet to be totally wiped out.

Did you know there was a draft of the Constitution that OUTLAWED Slavery here in the U.S.A. Thomas Jefferson wanted all Men and Women to be FREE.

      • July 16, 2020 at 8:12 pm

Thomas Jefferson wrote a draft of the Declaration of Independence that ended slavery.
In his initial draft, Jefferson blamed Britain’s King George for his role in creating and perpetuating the transatlantic slave trade—which he describes, in so many words, as a crime against humanity.

He has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating its most sacred rights of life & liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither.

Jefferson went on to call the institution of slavery “piratical warfare,” “execrable commerce” and an “assemblage of horrors.” He then criticized the crown for

“exciting those very people to rise in arms among us, and to purchase that liberty of which he has deprived them, by murdering the people on whom he also obtruded them: thus paying off former crimes committed against the Liberties of one people, with crimes which he urges them to commit against the lives of another.”

John, your observation is right on. Since the overuse of Nazi references when conservatives are attacked, everyone is dismissive of those references. However, as a student of that era, we are experiencing the very same fascism that was employed by the Nazi regime. Brown Shirts are are now black, boycotts are regularly imposed by those who want all dissenting opinions squelched. No one thought it would lead to what it led to. “History that is forgotten often repeats itself.”
