The two most recognizable faces of the Freedom Convoy have learned this horrible lesson. How far are these asshole persecutors willing to go? Let’s put it this way…
Chris Barber and Tamara Lich were charged with Mischief which is a misdemeanor. Neither had any previous criminal convictions. In the vast majority of cases, such charges would be deal with summarily… ie: probation and no criminal record. Instead they spent more time in court than the worst serial killer in recent Canadian history. Eventually the jury found them guilt (both are appealing their convictions and will probably win) and the judge gave them both house arrest for 18 months. The persecutors are appealing the sentences as they wanted 6 to 8 YEARS in jail.
Barber has a 20 year old Kenworth which is the core of his family’s hauling business. The persecutors tried to seize & destroy his truck as being “conveyance for criminal purposes” but the Judge said NO. So the persecutors are appealing that as well.
The People’s Republic of Canuckistan (formerly Canada) is swirling the drain.

Votes don’t matter, we’ve seen our last ‘election’, soon they’ll be done chinese style…they already forced at least one Conservative MP to ‘cross the aisle’ by threatening his family in china and here, but the liebrals are happy about it so no investigation, even if CSIS (our CIA) says that’s what happened.

Elon Musk increasingly reminds me of Cole Hendron, the genius inventor/industrialist in When Worlds Collide by Philip Wylie and Edwin Balmer. (1929 magazine serial, 1933 Lippincott hardback- you can find both versions at Project Gutenberg [US] and Faded Page [Canada].)
When Earth is found to be on the bullseye of two rogue planets coming out of deep space (way bigger than the “Atlas” object everyone’s having conniptions about now), one of which will collide with Earth and destroy it, the second will (fingers crossed) be “Class M” enough to offer a sanctuary for what’s left of humanity (if they can get there), Hendron advocates building at least one “space ark” to save at least some of humanity, and appeals to the U.S. and other governments for help in building one or more. The government refuses, and Hendron and some financiers do it themselves.
The next thing they know, their project base is under attack, first by saboteurs, then raiders, then mobs. With the government right behind them, with troops offering “protection”. Meaning, to seize the ship just as it’s completed.
Hendron also releases all the data on building and launching the ark worldwide; the world’s biggest DIY project. Governments do everything they can to prevent other arks from being built.
In the end, the objective is simple; the ruling government types in almost all countries (including the U.S.) only want arks built to save themselves. And maybe just enough “peasants” to do the scutwork where they land.
Most people who read WWC and its sequel, After Worlds Collide (1935) never realize that the two books are as much political commentary as hey are examples of early “hard SF”. If they knew anything of Philip Wylie’s other writings, they’d have realized it from the start.
PS; Wylie’s 1934 novel Gladiator was the direct inspiration for both Superman and Captain America in the comics. Just FYI.
“Political commentary” indeed, so far ahead of its time like much of the best scific of that incredibly advanced era.
In the contemporary case, Musk himself is most concerned about AI, as he reiterates yet again in a recent interview. All of the action of saboteurs, raiders, mobs, and gov track the same, and AI is WWC and AWC and more, all balled up into one agathokakological Trojan horse, doing all the work…and ultimately all the thinking.
It seems our power hungry, and the deluded followers, are working to get us under their yoke one way or another. The the ‘kinetic’ answer does work not only for them but us too. The problem is individuals/groups will be hunted down by the very government that is trying to be saved. The change is either mass action or the IRA example of people that just want to live their lives. There is no voting for any relief, as 2020 showed blatantly. God Bless Us All in 2026.
I would take the path of my hero/spirit guides, Gus McCrae and Capt Woodrow Call, do a little raid south of the border….get a new nestegg from which to rebuild. There is bound to be a Cartel cash stash(or three) just waiting to be “Liberated and Repatriated”

A couple-three-four shipping cargo containers can be made into housing.
Just be sure to waterproof and insulate well.
There are some nice options for shipping container housing, and with the intellect available to build Jo, etc., I bet they could build some wonderful structures limited only by imagination.
