Progressives want kids to choose their “gender identity” and let them (with guardian approval) get “confirmation” surgeries.

Federal judge rules US law banning FGM (female genital mutilation) is unconstitutional, dismisses charges against parents who approved it.

    No coincidence.

The judge ruled on a law made after the operation, I believe. Ex Post Facto isn’t allowed per constitution. FYI, FGM is an atrocity.

Click link. Law from 1996, charges filed 2017. One doctor arrested 2017 for 12-yr FGM conspiracy.

I’m surprised the Proggies didn’t declare the law racist with FGM popular among Muslims, ~95% of married women in Egypt for example.

The judge’s argument was based on the defendant’s claim the Federal law was unconstitutional due to the way it was passed, notably by Harry Reid. As in no debate, more of a “deem and pass” thing.

I’m sure Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, the new socialist Dem from NYC, would love to pass anti-gun laws the same way.

        https://theintercept.com/2018/11/20/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-cant-run-for-president-in-2020-trump-should-be-relieved/

Even with her smart-girl glasses on and her looking-up-to-the-light pose, Ms. Crazy Eyes still makes Nicholas Maduro look like Paul Dirac by comparison.

More to the point here, 27 states including Michigan have anti-FGM laws. 30 countries have outlawed it. The UN has denounced it.

And it keeps happening because the laws are never enforced. To avoid offending Muslims.

I find it fascinating that “progressives” claim to be terrified of Christians, and claim that Muslims are “peaceful” and “oppressed” by Christians and Jews.

They seem to have no problem “offending” Christians and Jews whenever the opportunity presents itself, or they can create one. Never mind their supposed “fear” of these “reactionary primitives”.

But show them a Muslim that’s somehow not in accord with a law, and suddenly they’ll go to any lengths to pretend that law doesn’t apply to Muslims. Even when the law had to be created precisely because of their behavior, as here.

Of course Islam is “Eastern” and “mystical”, and virulently anti-Western civilization. This privileges it in the minds of progressives, due to their having the same opinion of Western civilization, i.e., they hate it.

I strongly suspect that if the old Russian Skoptsy sect were to take root here, not only would progressives demand that laws about involuntary castration be repealed, they’d also want a rollback of arson statutes. For the exact same reasons.

My quick read on the decision was that the judge said it was not a FEDERAL matter under the Constitution and the 10th Amendment. Thus the law, however, good, failed. I think the judge was frustrated in that, and did mention that states themselves were banning the practice–and should. (I find FGM abhorrent and wish the rest of the states would ban it with severe penalties.)

I notice that in the lefty mind the prohibition against ex post facto laws in the Constitution never seem to apply to firearms. Curious.

BIG family Thankgiving, and it was ON!
“Traditional” oven roasted turkey by the women, vs. deep fried by the men (this included in-laws and such, NH and Ohio)
Final verdict- where the meat meets the plate…..draw.
Final verdict for 3 days of subsequent sandwiches (stuffing , mayo, cranberry, inc.)
    draw.
As always, with both, white meat vs. dark meat…. No contest.
(I MAY be prejudiced, after years of evaluation, in that)

Even if the bird launches straight up, and re-enters straight down, the earth will have rotated.
So, in order to have The Bird land in the exact same spot from which it was launched (or close enough), the oil pot will have to be tilted to the east.
    Math is hard……..

Uh, really? It would depend a lot more on atmospheric conditions than earth rotation, I think. Or are you talking “Spock exact “? 😉
If so, there likely isn’t much left of the meat projectile to even return to earth.
That said, I just watched a YouTube video of a guy hit a buffalo target at 2240yd with a stock Mosin open sighted. They called it a WR, but I’m not sure if it was for the hits or the number of shots fired.

Well, actually… The bird, assuming it hasn’t ablated away during launch and re-entry, will reach terminal velocity in the upper atmosphere, where the extremely low temperatures will deep freeze it once more. What will land will be covered in frost, and likely will still be a bit raw in the center.

Thanksgiving dinner has always been something of a science/engineering/technological/instinctual exercise, if a bit more grounded. Quite a few years ago deep frying the t-bird was considered to be -and was- experimental and dangerous. So I was an early adopter due to my curious and contrarian nature, and my affinity for here-hold-my-beer moments. But turns out I prefer the oven-roasted method, esp. since I don’t have to be involved until the carving.

So like me they might decide that while it’s a blast it ain’t full-filling as it were. But I’d be willing to try it if Sam should share her recipe for launch. Hold my beer! BOOM!

Got me a nice Big Boss Air Fryer halogen-convection cooker this week, think NuWave but for only $70 you get the extras like the extender ring. Hey look, healthy cooking! Threw in a 6# chicken yesterday to try it out, just some salt and pepper on it.

Oh my, looking into that big glowing glass bowl and watching the pockets of juices bubbling away under the skin. Delicious. And also good for room lighting and a little space heating.

Tomorrow it gets a ham. Might be the first time I’ll have a crunchy brown sugar shell. Yum.

I don’t know how weaponizing Thanksgiving Turkeys(Which is not against any Laws that I know of)became about Female and Male Genital Mutilation(I do Not consider Male Circumcision Mutilation), Although this discussion somehow explains the weird as hell nightmare I had this morning, involving my pecker getting cut off. Cyber-psychic, that’s me.

Launching the first(Second?)bird should provide the necessary trajectory analysis to allow the DD Ranch to ‘Feed the Antifa held in Jail…

And again, Weaponizing Deep Fried Turkeys, not against the Geneva Convention.
