I can say now that in a recent phone chat with Chris he expressed doubt that the fundraiser would finish up by mid-June and might need to carry through until the first week in July. So I suggested a big symbolic blowout blowup for Independence Day. He liked the idea and it was looking like that would be the necessary plan. But then…
Well, then we, all of us, stepped up to pay to play the best game on the web, with the incredible side benefits of education, camaraderie, and a cartoon so real they feel like our own real relatives, without the meatspace drama.
Great job! I’m proud of us! And I’m thinking we might get that big Firecracker Day blowup just the same, and just for fun!
Given that the vast majority of those who fought on either side of the Civil War and survived, from Private to General, ended up wiser, more thoughtful, and deliberate; the stupidity of Custer in insisting on being the exception that proofs the rule is even mure mind boggling.
A lot of good people died due to his unbridled ego.
