Beer, boobs, and BBQ. That’s what made DDQ awesome.

On a sober, off-topic front… my father-in-law passed (peacefully) away last Wednesday after a long battle with pulmonary disease. He was a man of service to his country. Almost 9 years in the Air Force, 2-3 years as a civilian contractor for the Army in Vietnam (where he met his wife), then 23 years as a civil servant for the Navy. He left behind his only child (my wife).

Soon that generation will be gone and it will all be on what’s left of us Boomers and X’ers to keep the fires burning and the Republic safe from enemies foreign and domestic.

Hope we’re up to it; all indications of the last few decades say not so much. But there is a new glimmer of hope if we don’t squander it.

Dr. Jerry Pournelle, Hugo Award winning author and a great Conservative columnist passed away peacefully last week. A public memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, September 16 at St. Francis De Sales Church located at 13370 Valleyheart Dr, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423. Please spread the word to those that would like to attend. Arrangements are being made to live-stream the service, I will post more information as it comes available. Dr. Pournelle was a founding member of the Citizens’ Advisory Council on National Space Policy that was a major force behind the Strategic Defense Initiative and Missile Defense, as well as a prolific author, columnist, engineer, and patriot.
        RIP, Jerry

PG is not DayByDay, or for that matter, the real world. Pretense and silliness, pretend and prudery simply do not work…

Write to the audience or settle into the sadly boring.

Actually, it seems a cast change might be in order. Younger, conservative folk who have both read the constitution and have a casual disregard of clothing…

Relax, everyone… At best, the display at the DD was covered albeit very lightly… a transition from R to PG for the sake of the kids isn’t such a bad thing.

There’s no mention of anyone putting restrictions on the swimming hole or any of the other locations on the ranch.

Although I always thought Sam was my fav, Jan is very close in the running…

Chris, whether you go PG or R, I’m sure that Day By Day will continually give us some eye candy to go with the kind of nowadays revolutionary thinking you give us to think about.

How are YOU doing? I know you briefly mentioned a physical afflection that made it more difficult to render your drawings — are you returning to full health?

Looking forward to more DBD, and to Redvolutionary 1776, whenever it may debut.

Just a heads up Chris, Microsoft (Internet Explorer) is reporting your site as a phishing site and therefore unsafe. My guess is some SJW got it in his head to take you down like this. I submitted a report to MS that this site is not a phishing site, but I think you should probably follow up on it with MS yourself.

As always, I’m thankful for your comics, and glad my cube is in a dark corner every time I get a nice hot comic like today’s. Wouldn’t want HR to freak out. 😉

Summa youse guys is missin’ the point: Chris Muir uses clever art of all sorts while giving cogent, accurate, and very timely… and intelligent observations. Often with pretty eye candy.

But the eye candy ain’t the central point. DBD has been around — and continuously viewed by this whole crowd — from ‘way before the first boobeh popped out.

Dem boobehs make for a lotsa fun, though… even if they ain’t the message.

  • September 14, 2017 at 11:03 am

See that camisole thing that Pam’s Cry for Dawn avatar wears? That’s PG anymore and I’m good with that.

We’ll still get the T&A, just not so much T&A&P I think…and those T’s and A’s look mighty fine with tops, shorts, and little dresses that are “barely” there. Good for the young’uns, and good for us too…and no doubt Muir will toss in a few private moments in the bedroom…and the pond…and the kitchen…and the hayloft 🙂

And the venue change seems okay to me, should be a lot easier to administer booze and music than heavy cookin’…but I guess I’ll lose all my naming royalties for DDQ 🙁 So what to call the new place? Blooze & Booze? Blooze & Booze & Boobs? Nah, we’ll think of something.

As for that little pig Miley, it could strip and spread or walk around butt naked on stage (and it does), but all it does for me is trigger a gag response along the lines of the one I get from The HillzaBeast…yeah I know, but to me that’s how nasty it is. And sucking our little grandbabies in with that bubblegum Disney princess shit then luring them directly into its current filthy version? Please don’t compare anything at my DD with that, or for that matter even mention its name again.

Hurricane update. Fifth day no grid power here in the dead-center of fla. Apparently our little county of Highlands was hardest hit for electrical infrastructure damage, as of last night still 97% dark. But we’ve rotated the generator in the old motorhome with a portable so we’ve kept the fridge cold and run some fans and tv off and on, even cool the bedroom with a little portable a/c at night. And they’re getting some gas in to a few stations, albeit with a half-mile line. Lawn crew is here now cutting and dragging limbs to the street where FEMA has contracted for bulk removal. We’ll get by. And really, it ain’t a bad (but just microcosmic) dry run for SHTF what with needing to deal with shelter, supplies and keeping armed and safe. Might be good for us.

    • September 14, 2017 at 11:31 am

About yesterday’s discussion by some of the hurricane hype being overblown as it were…they are correct, the media has become noaa with their super duper radar and a gaggle of “meteorologists” with their excited blather and getting a boner talking about the devastation that will be wrought by this monster storm. Sadly they are also correct that the reverse is true and noaa itself has become the media; those guys and all those gov wonks love that camera too. But in defense of some, namely Gov. Scott, yes he was in CYA mode so as not to be accused of being ill-prepared and not taking proper pre-emptive action (won’t matter, he’s damned either way by lib media), but he has been a solid conservative as governor of this state and is probably as responsible for dragging fla into the red this cycle as DT. Yes, he’s like a deer in the headlights on TV and can’t talk worth a shit, but I believe his heart was/is in the right place and he was taking the dire warnings he was being handed and doing his best to prepare his state for Armageddon. And heed this; a Cat 5 hurricane hitting this spit of semi-dry ocean bottom straight on will indeed kill thousands, and only God knows when or if that one will come. Hard fence to straddle…better safe than sorry, but using fear to get attention and money is criminal.

That seems to be a pendulum swing from the days of soft-pedaling a Cat-1 storm as a “Minimal Hurricane”. I remember some years ago CNN (I think) kept using the term and people in the affected areas did not take the situation as seriously as they should have. The storm caused widespread damage and many deaths/injuries to people who should have evacuated. The talking heads didn’t seem to understand that sustained winds of 75-95 miles per hour can still rip off roofs and drive destructive storm surges. Now, especially with the Enemedia pushing Global Climate Whatever, every storm is touted as the Apocalyps.

I remember when many little restaurants and delis had a “back room.” Sometimes I’d glance through the door and see people playing cards or rolling dice. Other times, there would be a curtain over the open doorway. I wondered about that until my elder sister explained the reason for that to me.
