Hemingway WAS a lefty, one of the reasons he went and covered the Civil War in Spain….

I see you used my bumper sticker. Credit for the quote goes to Ben Domenech of the Federalist who pointed out the “Wide Awake” movement that occurred just prior to the Civil War. They were abolitionist. We need to stay awake today because we may face the same consequences.

it is unclear if Hemingway’s sudden departure was due, in part, to the defeat of the “Lefties” in Spain, or due to Hemingway’s recognition of the essential brutality of the Leftist movement. Either option left little hope for a “heroic” future. Hence the sudden exit. A more courageous author might have conceived of a better future. Hemingway was not that author.

Ah, the wisdom of Mari. Those gorgeous blue eyes conceal great depth.

    Mike-SMO,

Hemingway was not that author man.

Hemingway was a garbage human. No need to get into all the reasons why. Too bad he ever wrote anything down.

I’m aware The Impression is that half the country is morally bankrupt, but I suspect the real % is lower; they work hard to project high numbers, but like BIden’s invisible voters in 2020, a significant proportion are imaginary. Yet sufficient to fool many.

Think of that short story The Old Man And The Sea.

The old man works his butt off for days to catch that big marlin … only to have swarms of Marxist sharks eat away all of his hard efforts.

Communism, like a school of hungry sharks, is the killer of dreams …

Just remember to watch those who lead the way very, very carefully…
Other wise the new boss might be the old boss with a different name
Most ‘revolutions’ found that out the hard way…
Many a budding tyrant has seen a coming wave of rebellion and jumped in front of it to ‘lead the way’

And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgment of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

But IF self-inflicted, not at all like the left of today, for whom the bell will toll by our hand when they send their minions…

As for EH, just an entertainer like all the rest, extremely talented and even prescient, but deadly flawed IRL. Not as bad as his son though into which he poured all his frailties and little of his talent, his death diseased, tormented and alone in jail…

What son are you talking about? Jack or Patrick? Both were accomplished individuals with the exception of allegations against Jack of sexual molestation of his daughters according to Margaux. He was never prosecuted. The allegations were backed up in a book written by Mariel. Margaux followed her dad’s exit, only she did it by overdosing on barbiturates.

I forgot about Gloria (or Gregory). Wow, the trans movement has been destroying lives for quite a while.

WE see it in real time, Naomi, but the others, who’ve submitted to criminal media coverups and mindless compliance do not see it – yet. There are very few grains of sand left in the hourglass and their silent weaponry is growing more fierce than I fear we imagine…

    I found this yesterday:
    INEPTOCRACY
A system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers

Ineptocracy may also define our government. There are many layers involved and the layers are often at crops purposes or on different agendas. Distraction from their true purposes in ingrained in all they do by the controllers.
If Biden was a Republican, he would have been convicted scores of times, said likely hung, shot, and drawn and quartered, many times if possible.
if Trump was a Democrat, he would still be the darling of the legacy bought media even if he were saying much of the same things.

“Gradually then suddenly” is actually a message of hope.

I remember the fall of the USSR. They and Reagan were going at it weekly, hammer and tongs, innovating, deploying, escalating… and then suddenly the Berlin Wall collapsed. Nobody saw it coming, nobody. Suddenly we won.

The more important point, though, was that the USSR never seemed stronger than it did just before it collapsed. Many of us thought that stuff like the “star wars” program was going to trigger WW III. It was only in hindsight that we could recognize it all as bluster, death throes, the ferocity of a cornered rat.

So now, every time the US Marxists seem to have all the energy on their side, I remember Gorbachev. And I look at things like the AB/Target boycott, the pistol brace noncompliance, the Biden whistleblowers coming out of the woodwork, the exoneration of Rittenhouse, the impending collapse of hellholes like California, Chicago, and New York… and I think: “gradually.”

I suppose it is a mark of the success of our system that people who should be starving to death due to their own incompetence are instead so rich they can afford to support cosplay revolutionary children so ignorant of the real world they think their food comes from stores.

The family of the shooter filed legal documents to transfer ownership of the document (which legally belongs to them as part of their daughter’s estate) to the families of the victims so they can decide who reads it and when. However, since it’s still sequestered as “evidence,” it’s not going anywhere soon.
