The Democrats almost literally used violations of the Bill of Rights as a checklist of “Things To Do” to prosecute and persecute Trump.
Go to Substack and search for “How did the Bill of Rights become a hit list of our liberties?” for details. Keep the quotes when you cut-and-paste the title into their search function.
Obama as the voice of the left said “the Bill of Rights says what the Government cant do to you. We need a Bill that says what Government does for you.” The quiet part of course is so we can use that to control you.
“Fix” our government?
Madison had some thoughts on that in Federalist 51:
“Ambition must be made to counteract ambition. The interest of the man must be connected with the constitutional rights of the place. It may be a reflection on human nature, that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.”
THAT has always been the fly in the ointment…time to get back to “checks and balances”, and, I think, that process MUST begin with an Article V Convention of States…starting with Term Limits for both houses of Congress, SCOTUS – AND, the unConstitutional federal bureaucracy.
Congress won’t pass – or even propose! – the needed Amendments.
I’ve never seen dogs on the run come back to put on their own LEASHES, so, in the end, it’s up to us.

I’n not sure about term limits. Sounds good, yes…but the voting was supposed to be what limited their term.
We need to decouple the office from the ability to make money from the post.
How? I dunno. A good first start might be to require all of the officeholder’s assets go into a blind trust, and a mandatory audit with the result made public each year.
As to the bureaucracy, we need to place a maximum limit of the number of goverment employees (to include contractors and “outsorced” work).
10,000 maybe?
And of the three Eon mentioned, only the Bill of Rights is required.
The Founding Fathers; Christians, Deists, and others, wanted a seperation of Church and State for many good reasons. The Hippocratic Oath is a blessing when applied well, and a bane when twisted from it’s original intent.
Not sure how blind to trust would have impeded Pelosi‘s money grab.

Past 80 here – was in grade school when the words “under God” were added to the Pledge of Allegiance, which we said at the beginning of each day . That has brought into question who’s religion? Which has turned into an ‘issue’

HELL no, to a ConCon…we can enumerate all the positives in the world, but that can of worms -and I do mean worms- has a mind, and an agenda, of its own.
The most important part of a Convention of States is that the current House and Senate have NO SAY… only the delegates from each state get a vote. Once adopted they would have to go throw all the hoops of the amendment process to block the changes which the states would then not support in enough numbers to allow them. Term Limits should be action number 1

Our current government is like a locomotive that’s jumped the tracks. That engine serves a great purpose, but was made to only run on the rails we built. Otherwise it is of little use. I fear getting it back into position might pose a greater challenge to us than constructing it in the first place.
Congress won’t vote to show their roles as deviates, (a few?), within our system of laws. Term limits would be a start, but they won’t vote for that either.
Re: the article 5 convention of states,

A Constitutional Convention could allow
for a vote on repealing the 2nd amendment,
and based on what is happening in Britain,
also the 1st amendment, and who knows
what else after the barn doors are thrown
open.

As devotees of the Scottish Enlightenment they built a Constitution that they knew would be under assault from every corruption Man (Woman too as it turns out) could devise.
The key here is what John Adams, cited above, alluded too.
Our Constitution is adequate IF we are a moral people, and I’m afraid un-vetted immigration by immoral and amoral people, and a native population unacquainted with moral instruction, are key to destroying the Republic.
Note here that Moral is not necessarily Christian. The Japanese seem to be doing quite well under a like-minded Constitution and Christians are far from being anything like a majority there. It seems they use Consensus as an effective substitute for a common Morality.
