    Funny.
Of course in the actual Archaean Eon, which ended about 2500 billion years ago, there was nothing above the level of bacteria and blue-green algae. In the Devonian Period (early in our current Phanerozoic Eon) there were actually fish, some plants on land — and lots of spineless (i.e., protodemocrat) life.

“sand gets into everything” … Memory of metal detecting remote Hawaiian beach. Beautiful wahine appeared saying ‘You can hold my hand if you like’.
      Didn’t have to invite twice.

Peruvian red sand is very dangerous. It’s why NASA uses it for lunar and mars rover and spacesuit testing.

In areas used by Inca and Protoincas for sand burial, you get grave robbing enmasse.
Also a very dangerous virus/fungus combo. White fuzz and rot at back of throat. Treated easily if caught early.
Once in lungs and sinuses, really bad things happen.

I caught it after dune surfing into a delve uncovered 3 mummies and a ton of burial treasure.
There was a miasma in the red sand. Tasted and smelled of copper, iron, and bad artichokes.

Local Ranger gave warning of sickness-suggesting coca tea and high acid mini-limes (local) to gargle with.
Gave dad a skull and about 1/3 of the gold & stones. Rest went into cardboard box with number. Coordinates. And note site naturally uncovered pre-looted of urns and cups.

I was sick for two weeks that summer. Triple antibiotics and two anti-virals used.
Until housemaid made the tea Ranger told us to use first.
Coughed up the mass. No pain. Healed up in two days.
Bloodwork was suss for two more weeks after.
We had a few earthquakes. I found a cave near BMX and Skateboarding park. But that’s another story.

Reminds me of the time I came across a topless hippy girl @12000 feet, her tits were already beet red. I didn’t say a word, nice tits are hard to find, in any condition.

Up here they’re rushing to change the names of streets, towns and everything else to some unpronounceable aboriginal name, all the hader since they had no written language and nobody speaks the original tongue today so they just make something up that has no real meaning or bearing on the area, no asking the residents, no appeal, just some politician deciding to stump for votes from people who couldn’t even spell Dundas Square but drool over ‘Sankofa Square’ A Ghanian name to honor a bunch of recent Ghanian immigrants. I expect they’ll be renaming the various geological eras long before any humans existed, native or not, to some other gobbledegook once someone gets the notion to make a few bucks making new signs and pushing ‘reconciliation’.

They’re already trying to change the names of some dinosaurs that were discovered here because they’re ‘too white’ and Trump Avenue should be panic-changed by the end of the week…and it was just changed TO that…

The Devonian Period … that’s the Gillman in “The Creature From The Black Lagoon.”

As I recall, he had a thing for pretty brunettes in white one-piece bathing suits.
