Some economists think that sending green troops to the Ukraine would lead to an expensive bloodbath.

    https://twitter.com/ChrisO_wiki/status/1573962833049665538?t=-lLCMOuHssk1ll3ZZFIK7A&s=03

Backfilling existing units with the green troops might free up some better trained people but would leave Russia vulnerable. China has ancient claims on Siberia.

The mainline media is silent but the babble-net suggests that there might have been a coup in China. That puts some extra wild cards in the deck.

I think if the troops we send were all our “greens”, we’d improve the bloodline, dramatically.

As my son would be one of those “greens” I don’t share your enthusiasm.

The process of turning green troops into combat veterans is always an expensive process. The trick is to supply those green troops with experienced and well trained/educated leadership. In the American Civil War the Union had to work (that is kill or demote) its way through a lot of second-rate leadership before producing officers on par with the Confederacy.
Putin has a real dilemma on his hands. Officers good enough to run an efficient army will be good enough to kick his ass off his throne, and that’s the last thing he wants.

True but funny/ironic that the CSA had superior officers and soldiers, considering they were all “green” prior to being called upon.

Training and education are no replacement for pure and righteous conviction and action.

That’s a good part of the problem in America, that so many of the “leaders” are professional politicians and military lifers with no connection to the grunts on the ground. We need to take the cue from the Confederacy and start building our resistance from the voluntary enlisted citizens of the CRA.

By the way, Russia, DBA Soviet Union, sent weapons, people and intel to North Viet Nam. Payback is a b***h.

Plus a big chunk of Russia’s military “specialists” are “contractors” with the Wagner Group. I don’t know the legalities of “contractor” vs. “mercenary” but it seems to be a big thing in Eastern Europe. If they can, NATO can.

    Very messy.

Dicaprio may ACT hot, but he seems more the enviro-nazi watermelon (green outside, red inside). Someone I would not look to for any leadership outside of hitting his mark and emoting his lines.

He’s all that hot wouldn’t you think they would go after him as a prime source of globull warming? And they should probably ask about his jet-setting over the last decade and compare his “hot” carbon footprint with us ordinaries.

In 1991-93, we had an opportunity to bring Russia into the civilized world by helping them rebuild from their seven-decades-long failed experiment with Communism.

Instead, our own leftish Best and Brightest, insanely enraged that Russia had voluntarily turned away from the One True Path To Utopia, spent three decades getting revenge.

The end result is that both Russia and Ukraine are run by the equivalent of the old Chicago and Cleveland mobs. And are now having a “family war” on a continental scale.

As always, the victims are the honest people who have to live under the rule of the thugs on both sides.

Meanwhile, our Fearless Leaders are busy propping up the boss who knows where all their skeletons are buried- and the numbers of their bank accounts in Geneva and elsewhere.

As for Red China, Xi doesn’t care about “historical claims” on Siberia except insofar as it gives him an excuse to strip-mine everything north of the Amur River for natural resources he needs to keep his make-work economy from crashing and burning. Having Putin in his pocket means he might not need his army to go get it.

This administration’s idea of making Ukraine our version of North Korea could be the biggest strategic blunder since we signed off on the Versailles Treaty in 1919.

“…our own leftish Best and Brightest, insanely enraged that Russia had voluntarily turned away from the One True Path To Utopia, spent three decades getting revenge.”

Truth is their rage was aimed at our own methods of dealing with the Red crisis, namely the most powerful and productive and magnanimous Republic in the history of the world. It wasn’t/isn’t Russia itself but its commie acolytes right here among us that, have moved incrementally but indomitably from “lefish” to full-on communist. Took them a while, but they never stopped trying and their efforts and their agenda are now finally coming to fruition.

Their civil war is unrelated but identical to our own.

Historically, female rulers have had proportionally more wars than male rulers. That does not necessarily mean that they are more aggressive than men; it may reflect the ancient attitude that the ruler was the nation, and the personal strength of the ruler was believed to reflect the strength and resolve of the nation. This attitude still exists; during WWII, FDR went to considerable lengths to avoid being photographed in his wheelchair because of it. It is the only real objection I have to a female President, because there are still a lot of national leaders who still have that attitude.

Here’s the comic I found (but wasn’t able to post Saturday – busy, busy, busy) that justifies vigilantism. I’ll post it for the next couple of days so as many people as possible will have the opportunity to read it. Thx for your understanding.

Used to enjoy Petercat’s stuff, not anymore. Just got weirder and more directionless as it went along, and became way too focused on the existence of and fealty to the Emperor and *his* Empire as opposed to the people’s. You cannot justify vigilantism but you sure as hell can justify payback and/or SYG.

Then a year or so ago, there were backdoor attacks on DBD. That did it.

Putin’s tossing green conscripts into the war isn’t going to accomplish anything more than a gross return of body bags from Ukraine and a reduction of the Russian population.

Historically, Russia and the USSR has never had a competent, well trained military able to another, modern first world nation. Their war tactics is and has always been to wage war on the civilian populace of a country and not their military forces. The last and probably the only time the USSR fought against another proper military force was during WWII against NAZI Germany and that’s because they were forced to do it on their own soil. At that they almost lost, and if Hitler wasn’t fighting on two other fronts, Russia would belong to Germany now. Again, Russia wages wars on civilians not other Armies. That’s what they’re doing in Ukraine and in part, why they’re getting their asses kicked. While Russian Orcs are ravaging civilian towns and cities and their populace, the Ukrainian armed forces are taking the fight to the Russian military and winning.

The only thing that Putin has is quantity and in this case it isn’t standing up to Ukraine’s quality.

Those Afghan cave dwellers might not be a “proper military force” but I guarandamntee that by the time they dragged stomped asses out of there the Russkies wished they’d never heard of that God-forsaken place…

Actually I wish the same damn thing for our stomped asses too…

The Revenant … is that the movie where Leo was repeatedly raped by the Bear?!?

    https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/films/623481/leonardo-dicaprio-mounted-raped-by-bear-revenant

I vaguely remember watching that movie on cable a few years ago. It must not have been that good because I cannot remember how the movie ended or even how it started.

I thought the Bear scene was actually the infamous ManBearPig, with Al Gore hired as an on scene intimacy coordinator.

Putin is no Bolshevik he is more interested as becoming a Tsar of all the Russias having an empire even as he may be dying in pain. His threat of nukes isn’t unexpected since Vladimir “the Poisoner” Putin seems to be losing it and is desperate for a win and nukes upsets the board. Still as long as it doesn’t escalate any further, we might squeak out of it with a whole planet intact. Even if the Ukrainians suffer more and so will Russians from the trade winds blowing irradiated clouds of ionized radiation into Russia itself.
