I never got in the habit of drinking, few decades ago I had to finally toss out half a case of Red Dog.

On this hallowed Christmas Eve, please think about helping the desperate and needy.

Lend a Hand to the Loon

At the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center near Stroudsburg, director Kathy Uhler is urging people in northeastern Pennsylvania to keep an eye out for loons on surfaces like driveways, roadsides and parking lots.

If you see one, the bird is stuck.

“Their legs, as you’re going to see, are so far back on their body, they really aren’t meant to stand up and their wings are so short that they can’t take off flying from land,” explained Uhler.

Uhler tells Newswatch 16, the loons arrived here ahead of the recent winter storm. She says these birds are landing on these surfaces because at night, it looks like water.

A feathered loon, sure, I’d give them a helping hand.
A fleshy loon, that’s a different story. I’d give them a hand, but it would hurt.

If you see a distressed bird on your driveway in the snow or cold, bring it in and warm it up.

Never saw, nor heard a feathered loon, when I lived in Texas. Saw many of the feathered and non-feathered when I went to Syracuse U. for post graduate work.

As I found both the love of my life and a renewed sense of hope in Texas, I understand why Wade chose the ranch… and why Zed & Sam live there.

The new house that my wife & I built ain’t a ranch, nor does it have famous visitors like the Double D but it’s ours and that’s enough.

    Merry Christmas, everyone!!

All I can say to this is: Yes, and?

The little brewery in Shiner puts out some really good beer, and not just the Bock. About the only real disappointment I’ve had from them is the reformulated “lite” Ruby Redbird; the original was yummy juicy grapefruity, the new version much thinner and less distinctive.

Ah, day before Christmas shopping. We used to have three main things in our stockings, a quarter, an orange, and a banana. A quarter bought a candy bar, and those fruits were pricey in winter, especially when my parents were young. Nowadays you talk about a juice can and people might think about frozen concentrate or a tiny lunchbox-sized thing, and even that is now a generation ago.

San Francisco cafes are banishing disposable coffee cups
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A new cafe culture is brewing in the San Francisco area, where a growing number of coffee houses are banishing paper to-go cups and replacing them with everything from glass jars to rental mugs and BYO cup policies.

Hot coffee, in glass jars, for which they’ll sell you a reusable sleeve that is itself eventually throwaway. So now the streets will be covered in crap, needles, and glass shards. Because of the lie that the paper cups aren’t recyclable when all you have to do is apply fire, release the stored solar energy, and return the carbon and other elements back to the environment.

I’ve done that before, VOLUNTARILY taken my own cup to a coffee place. Usually they give a small discount to offset the cost of the cup that they’re not using/selling.
I have two Tervis cups (16 oz/24 oz) (double wall thermal) that I use interchangeably.

I don’t think emojis from any source work here – all I ever see are the character equivalents when someone types them.
