    Man in the Middle

I’m seeing a lot of anti-boomer comments lately. They don’t bother me much, because they are just a tiny addition to all the hate already aimed at me for being a white, male, Christian, Pro Life, NRA member, Libertarian for the past 50 years. I can also easily think of boomers I know who are every bit as bad as the comments claim. That said, I’d consider it more appropriate to rail against individuals for their individual failings than for their membership in a group they didn’t choose and cannot change.

You’re expecting too much thought from people whose basic human failing is that they are collectivists.

Collectivists = sheep. They are afraid to leave the herd. Moral cowards.

Collectivists can only function in a herd. Standing alone would leave them a target for pecking to death like the chickens they are.

Damn beautiful sunset there Chris. Awesome artwork as always.

Change that to a sunrise perhaps, for all of the people protesting the mask / vaccine mandates?

Don’t think Skye falls in our ca. 1945-1965 group Man, but I’m with you on the blame game painting us all with the same brush. Unfortunately, the brush is indeed appropriate for the majority of our gen, and America is right now paying the price for it.

I count myself extremely fortunate to have gotten here just before the “Boomer Age” began (Aug ’44). Not that it would have made much difference, if any, if I had . . .

I dunno John D., sickening to think that virtually all of the the various “collectivists” mentioned above fall within that span of ages; the oldest in their late 70’s, youngest the late 50’s…that probably covers most of the ones that Skye is rightly railing against. But they’re not just the sheep but the shepherds and the wolves and I admit that my generation has well and truly mucked things up.

OTOH, haven’t seen much from Skye and Sam’s actual gen of X’ers either, that might dig us out of this hole and fill it in with the bodies of those leftist boomers.

Can we get back that Greatest Generation to fix this shit, again?

I find the hard cutoffs on the definitions lead to some misconceptions. Defining “generations” is really about attitudes, which is really about upbringing. Greatest Generation are those who fought or supported war efforts in WWII – ie, those of fighting age or at least school age (recycling, rationing, etc) and includes the “Rosie the Riveter” workers back home. Basically – they have memories of WWII and probably the depression as well. Boomers are those born in the post war birth surge – therefore born in 1946-65. BUT that is wrong. My father was born in ’43 – he had no memory of WWII and grew up in the post war prosperity and married before the Vietnam war/sexual revolution, etc.). So he was (in attitude/approach to life) a Boomer despite technically being a G.G.

I (OTOH) was born in ’64, so technically I’m the boomer – but was in high school when AIDS became a thing. No real memories of Vietnam. Registered for the draft in the time of an all volunteer military, etc. So I identify more as Gen X.

I was born in 1951. Turned 70 last year. Hardest part is realizing that I enlisted in the Marine Corp in May of 1971 and that was over 50 years ago. Still got all my parts except for an artificial Heart Valve installed via Catheter last March (arteries are still pretty clear so they didn’t have to open me up)

1946 – official first-year boomer. The boomers were the generation of “Turn on, tune in, drop out,” burn your draft cards at Sproul Plaza, “Hell no, we won’t go.” But we were also the ones that did the job in Vietnam, so there is that.

Calling them the “Greatest Generation” is part of the exact same problem. They weren’t the Greatest – they just dealt with a particularly troublesome time and got through it. Some well, others not so well. Some were heroes, some were not, some were villains.

But, despite the press you heard growing up, a “generation” did not save the world. Heck, a lot of that generation helped ruin the world with their devotion to collectivism as part of the way to stop “world wars” from happening again.

And, after all, they raised the “Boomer” generation that so many complain about. Those folks didn’t appear out of nowhere. And who raised the next generation that the “Boomers” complain about? Well, Boomers did.

You want back the “Greatest Generation” to fix things?
Then become them and work on making everyone around you into them.
Oh, and stop hoping for a superhero to come to your rescue and man up to handle it yourself.

Now get off my lawn, the rant’s over.

I got screwed. I’m on the cusp of both Gen X and Boomer. (’61). Technically a member of neither and both, depending on who the asshole denigrating me is.

” … and I hope Neil Young will remember … ” Mr. Young has long been accustomed to painting in broad strokes. Which is not at all what the press releases claim for the Loving, Caring, and Tolerant left.

Spotify is Swedish. The country is an odd mix of invertebrate Wokeness with a stubborn strain of Viking-gene pragmatic individualism thrown in for balance. Hence their slightly better than the “free” world’s Utter Madness response to Covid1984, and Spotify now trying to have it both ways.

Rumble is Canadian, but rapidly making a shift to Florida. Mr. Rogan would do well to abandon the Woke sinking ship and switch over.
In the process he can restore his entire catalog and give Rumble an even bigger boost.

Meanwhile in Ottawa, the police have begun seizing diesel fuel to prevent the trucker convoy from keeping their vehicles warm. Mayor Comrade Watson got an injunction against sounding airhorns so anyone found doing so is being arrested.

The Malignant Smear Merchants (MSM) “found” an antisemitic ‘poster’ and were accusing the trucker convoy of spreading such… until someone noticed the ‘poster’ image was found elsewhere on the internet months ago…

The lawyers for the trucker convoy are collecting affidavits from residents about how the truckers have cleaned the streets, shoveled the sidewalks, fed the homeless… basically made Ottawa a better place than it was before they arrived…

And last I heard they are going after the trucker’s driver licenses…another version of a lockdown that strips citizens of their right to earn a living and provide not just for themselves but for everyone who uses anything that moves by truck…

They truly are so stupid as to cut off their own nose to spite their face.

Just a thought for us all members of the Red Clan. If the US truck convoy does get started then we need a greeting for each other. Its a one word acclimation of affiliation and no explanation is needed. In my current home town it is “War Eagle” and I have been greeted with this in Shanghai and Paris and Peoria. Sometimes I even get a “Roll Tide” back from difficult children being cute the sentiment the same. For us to understand the support for the ideas behind the protest without having to explain it this greeting will suffice, “Tonka.”

The way it would probably work is if the idiots start shooting; it would most likely be that reviled boomer generation that would actually fight back.

Sickest part? That too would play into their plans for the “surplus population”.

So. When the shooting starts, aim for the head(s).
