This is the way the ancient Greeks wrote. Continuous lettering, no gaps between words, and no punctuation.
I presume it was meant to save paper and lose sanity.
Could be worse, ancient Hebrew skipped vowels and assumed you’d know which ones were supposed to be there…which makes for some interesting interpetations of Scripture when changing one vowel changes the meaning of a word entirely 😉
