The Editors at Marvel have been socialists for years. It’s not like when Chris Claremont and his peers were putting Heinlein references in the scripts back in the 80s. And now they’re owned and Published by Disney, so go fig’.

I’ve said it elsewhere, but I don’t think I’ve said it here: I’ve been a Marvel fan since I was reading the Claremont X-men back in the 80s. The “Captain America is a Hydra agent” plot is the last straw for me. I don’t care what “plot twist” they bring in to rescue the Captain America character down the road. I’m done with Marvel. No more money from me. ‘Eff ’em.

I used to be a big Archie Comics fan (I have several that displayed NRA signs in the comic itself) until they removed all references to firearms, even from their reprints. The last straw was when they edited out the rifle when poachers shot Archie’s dog by mistake. In the original, it showed the dog laying on the ground with the poacher pointing the rifle at him, in the reprint the dog was laying on the ground with his leg in a clumsily-added trap, and the poacher was pointing his finger at him. The rifle was gone.
Mr. Weatherbee was once a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, Archie’s dad was some kind of special ops (in one story, he beat the hell out of a robber, then ended up out of breath because he’d gotten old and fat), Mr Lodge was also a veteran, Chick Cooper (Betty’s brother) was a serviceman and she was proud of him, and so on.
All of that has changed, and I haven’t bought a new Archie comic since then. It just isn’t entertaining any more.
They’ve gotten so politically correct that the comic is unreadable.
Liberals suck the fun out of everything.

I think even Heinlein (if he were alive today) would be stunned to realize that he is living in “The Crazy Years” that he plotted and outlined back in the 40s.
(Note to self. Find and print a copy of “Future History” timeline, and place in copy of “The Past Through Tomorrow”)

I’ve been a Marvel fan (not so much lately) since the ’60s when I first got enough money of my own to buy comics. Loved Fantastic Four & Spiderman. How in the HELL did they come up with the idea that Blond Sue Storm’s brother could be black? Forty plus years of Fantastic Four and all of a sudden she’s got a black brother? Hollywood may have saved comic universes, for a time, but Hollywood PC will destroy them eventually.

It’s not just Hollywood. A few years ago Cap and Falcon were looking over a Tea Party rally from a rooftop. They commented on how the banners were all racist and bigoted. This is the work of the Editors (and the script writers they hire and control) at Marvel these days.

I love it…that shit is really just another arm of the thugs who try to intimidate Trump and his supporters with violence at his rallies. Produced, supported, defended, publicized and applauded by those who would kill America and replace Americans.

They think this is so smart; wonder when they’ll figure out that every time they pull another stunt like this, just a little more preference escapes its “falsification” façade and joins the raging cascade.

It’s identical to BO’s desire for gun control resulting in more firearms being added to the national private arsenal during his tenure than in the three decades prior. Keep it up bitches, you’re doing great!

Makes you wonder too, do they understand the implication and correlation between these two parallel phenomena? I hope it doesn’t get bloody, but if it does they’ll have themselves to blame for having created both the conflict itself and multiplying the means by which they will lose it.

        Proof that Liberals are insane.
They try to demonize guns, and guns become more popular than ever.
Now they’re trying to demonize Trump, and they expect different results?
        Proof that Liberals are insane.

Only insane to the extent Stalin, Mao and Hitler were insane.

      • June 6, 2016 at 9:52 am

Like it says on posters in most every gun shop…and which Bobo acknowledged himself in a vid of a townhall meeting where someone accused him of attacking 2A:

“I’m about to leave office, and there have been more guns sold since I was elected that at any time in our country’s history; there are more than enough guns in private hands for every man, woman, and child…”

Three excellent applause lines there, delivered with absolutely no hint of the irony.

Simple supply/demand at work. But as their efforts to control demand have had a rather inverse effect, expect them to double down on supply. That’s what Executive Order was all about, can’t change the laws, so we will bypass that and redefine them and alter enforcement of them. And the bitchbeast will go after that approach like the starved and rabid predator that she is…you can bet that every agency that can bring any and every tangentially related hardship and penalty to producers, retailers, and owners will do so under her dictatorship. DOJ, IRS, SS, OSHA, FDIC, DOE, HHS, to name just a few. Which played into why I made this comment to a related post about the Couric hit piece on private guns sales/transfers at a gunnie site I sometimes visit:

“…that’s what really drives them (grabbers) crazy and what they so badly want to control, as does the zero with his EO’s. This effort will get doubled and tripled down under the bitchbeast, so some ironic advice from a nearly 40-year FFL would be, locate and complete all of the legal private purchase transactions you can afford, because with the changes brewing, you can’t afford not to.”

Having illegal invaders protest against Trump is like having robbers protest against police. But unlike those California Police, Trump will do more than stand there and watch…

      • June 6, 2016 at 9:55 am

“Trump will do more than stand there and watch…”

As will the people who attend. I’ve said many times that I hope it doesn’t get bloody, but if they are stupid enough to draw first blood as they were in Cali in places that are decidedly not Cali, it may come to pass that red states earn that name in multiple ways.

Just remember the KISS principle: Keep It Simple for the Stoopid.

Bernie as Communist, with a Capital C, wrapped in a red hammer and sickle flag, showing and comparing some of his quotes to other Communist leaders quotes. And maybe throw in the date(s) that Communism “died”.

The real shit is inside the heads of those who believe this garbage.
By all means avoid mention of Venezuela, where socialism took the richest nation in South America into disaster in short decades.
Ignore Greece as well and cite Norway, without mentioning how they’re switching off their socialist programs.

As a child, I did not read comics. My Mom considered them to be trash reading. Considering how Icons have been turned from truth and light to sleeze and duplicity, maybe they should be now classed with porn and no one under 21 allowed to buy them.

I surmise too much smoking of the whacky weed and ingestion of psychotropics has reduced the writers cognitive skills to mushy sludge.
The anything goes story arcs have doomed them.

Hate to break it to you, but the average age of Comic Book store patrons today is around 40. People under 21 essentially don’t buy comics these days. That’s a significant portion of why Marvel has done such a focused and hard push into film making to create money from their properties.

      • June 6, 2016 at 4:37 pm

“…the average age of Comic Book store parons today is around 40.”

Hmm, yes that applies to interests like sci-fic, SW and ST cons, etc. etc. too.

Considering the volume and detail that Chris’ recent series kicked off among some commenters here, whose writings I’ve come to enjoy and respect, I’m a bit hesitant to say it…but for quite a few sometimes conflicting reasons, I find that a bit disturbing.

In 1965 while the boys in school and the neighborhood waited for the newest edition to come out, the girls were busy reading Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys and the The Annette Mysteries collection from Disney. Mothers kept a close eye out.

I bought Marvel for the first time in the 1960s–Issue #2 of the X-Men. I still have it somewhere. I have enjoyed the movie versions until the stupid new Fantastic Four came out. I haven’t seen a Marvel movie since. Nor will I see any more. When you tinker with iconic characters to make them politically correct you should not be surprised when the movie bombs, and when a company like Marvel starts becoming an enemy to its own country, they should not be surprised when people stop buying their product.

This kind of story arc is why I stopped buying comics back in the day. I needed the money more for college, anyway.

‘Bye, Marvel. I won’t miss you.

Sanders is the self-proclaimed socialist. Sad, how quickly a society forgets history. The Nazis were socialists, and it’s a short, easy path from socialism to the sort of extreme totalitarianism that they practiced. Bernie is the one that should be drawn in the Hitler uniform. Sad that today’s youth, who primarily support Bernie, are being seduced just as the Hitler youth a couple of generations ago.
By painting Trump as Hitler, the Dems are granting permission to assassinate him, if he is elected. Scott Adams makes an interesting theory here http://blog.dilbert.com/post/145456082991/my-endorsement-for-president-of-the-united-states

Marvel, 1960s: fatally (or at least, noticeably) flawed heroes in constant angst; read like a soap opera (Google it, younguns). DC, home of the genuine heroes.

Archie: light, funny, HS kids worrying about whom to date

FF 21st Century: high falutin’ name (graphic novel); low faultin’ content.

    No soup for you! Next!

Shoot. DBD is pretty much the only cartoon I can stand today. Used to love Sgt Rock as a kid. And LOVED The Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes.
Bah, the only thing I can see in modern comics are absurdly large boobs on the female heroes (not necessarily a bad thing. 🙂 and liberal plot lines.

    Taquiyya. lying. Deception.

those who gave us Typhoid Barry and his worldwide and nation damage continue to do bad things. fabians rejoice.
Global Socialism versus National Socialism. What a world! It’s still socialism.
Socialism only is there to change into Communism. So they say.

I had no clue this was not sarcasm until halfway through the comments. My normalcy bias as to comics and the good morals they used to have would not let me consider the truth.

I can only think to comment now that: We are in a war, you know.

The red squads, and a Muslim from Somalia to Minnesota to California ran down and slammed a much smaller Trump supporter to the ground and tweeted about it. There were Mexican flag carrying invaders also around the beginning of that incident. also egg pelting, hat thefts and burning, and the La Raza supporting (I heard) police chief just let them do it because he said he did not want to upset them even more. Then his police moved them out of the street much later when the thugs job had been done.

They will realize eventually when they go to far, that Americans will protect their own from attack. Hold your defense so that your retaliation maintains the high ground and high morals. Do not attack these thugs first. Always defend yourself appropriately and safely. I did deck a yippee once who was trashing and wilding with about a dozen others as he advanced on me with a knife after slashing one tire and breaking a window, to do me or the tire I was standing by on the poor old holocaust survivor’s old work van. He would have been put out of business. This at a national convention. I then told the others who came over aggressively to me to take their man away and I would do the same to any other that desired to attack me or damage that property. Sometimes one just acts appropriately.

We must all be our own version of Captain America, the good one.

Saw a guest yesterday on ABC/Stephanopolous[sp?] that had just released a book about Ali. He took part of his time to trash Trump by saying that he once heard Ali say while at an event at a Trump hotel (Trump in attendance) that Trump was “not as big as he thought he was.”
No way in hell to verify this and nobody challenged him or have I seen anything today about it. Cheap shot!

Aw, hell did we ever REALLY come out of the 2009 Recession?

      I don’t think so…

What was the Gipper’s best line of the 1980 campaign…”Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?”

I sure as hell am not…just holding my own, but definitely not better off…and that’s only because my wife went back to work after our daughter passed away.

What’s the line to the song…”Another day older and deeper in debt.”
