You old surfer dude, you. Hang loose.
And you kept your little surfer girl all of this time. (Or she kept you. I leave any judgement as to who kept who to others)
Of both of you it can be said: “Temba, his arms open.”

Invasions (migrants EU term today) to take what others have extends throughout human history.
Killing those who invade has also been an option. Surrender and death is another 2 options. Sometimes some of the invaders have integrated. More often, not.
20 million people ran into South Africa after the Boers (Dutch 14th Century settlers of an empty land) surrendered to Mandela and the African National Congress. After a brief period of reconciliation, genocide of the Afrikaners continues for many to this day. Zimbabwe rewarded those who murdered the chosen white landowners who would not give up everything. Mugabe says there is no reason to ever prosecute the killers. Power flows from the barrel of a gun.
How does one obtain peace in such a world. Power. As a start. The objectives stated by some end. Then action is needed.
    to wit
    “Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra.”
“Darmok and Jalad on the ocean.”
    is needed to defeat
    “The beast at Tanagra.”

      Shaka.

No, not scripted warriors…the real deal.

      Shaka Zulu.

The descendants of this most murderous, ruthless, insane and advanced warrior in the history of black africa were pretty unlikely to “reconcile” with the settlers who built South Africa into a real and prosperous civilization when they could instead just murder them and take all their shit. One wonders if Afrikaners knew how to read history.

Now that shit is ruined or gone and they need to come and take your shit. And one wonders if Europeans know how to read history. Or Americans it seems.

Obama’s Kenyan “daddy” is alleged to be a leader of and a philosophical inspiration of Kenya’s Mau Mau movement. How’s them killings. Like alleged daddy, like alleged son.

Mongols slaughtered the Muslims in the millions. Too bad they stopped. Their killings at Baghdad were legion.
The movie Zulu was about the defense of and called The Battle of Rorke’s Drift. Great battle. So was the movie great.
Afrikanners are treated with prejudice and cannot obtain jobs in much of South Africa. The job making Afrikaners have been taxed and persecuted and killed. The Afrikanners deserve refugee status in the US and Europe before all of the warring Muslims do.
Mohamed robbed caravans on the trade routes between China and the West. So his Shara Law demands his people plunder unto this day.
Europe is a ripe honey pot to be consumed. So the Muslims tell each other. And so the EC and EU treats the lives and property of Europeans. Islam is an evil storm descended upon the world that must be outlasted and defeated.
The Europeans need to make Europe a Hell Hole into which Islam falls and perishes. Islam will use any weapon and act to win. So must the West. Being more viscous than them has been the only acts Muslims have respected during their history.

Get out quick, Chris, lest there be no fuel along the evacuation route. Take care. If need be, come to the Texas Hill Country (just don’t use I-10). We’ll put you up as long as needed.

    Possible.
Think 1926 Hurricane that scrubbed the Miami Beach barrier island clean of much on it like a huge wire brush had been energetically applied. Family members recounted the experience, and have buildings fall down while the extended family was in them. And of a 9 year old boy while in waist deep water being blown across the street when he stepped out from behind a building while traveling to the next safe haven. Fortunately an older man saw him blown into the side of the hotel and opened a window and pulled him inside. A channel was cut through Miami Beach at around 30th street from the ocean to Indian Creek.
I am glad that you are getting off the barrier island. Nothing there is worth you.
I am 100 miles inland these days. This is the most relaxed that I have been for such a major storm.
All should properly fear the power of this storm. I have given such advice to others.

Even 100 miles may not be safe. In 2011, Hurricane Irene trashed Vermont, and it is at least 100 miles inland, and shielded by the White and Green Mountains. Even the State Emergency Operation Center had to evacuate as the Winooski River overflowed past flood stage.
Here in Charleston, the house is boarded up and the wife and cats are going to stay with her cousin near Shaw AFB. I’m deploying with the State Guard Dive Team, exactly where depends on the storm track.

Keep ahead of the mass, Chris, and stay feet dry!

I saw this coming a week ago and sent my sister an emergency care package from Amazon (She lives in Charleston SC). Tried to get the basics, water purifiers, candle lantern candles, a water bob, another 7 gallon container, 3 days worth of emergency rations, a good first aid kit, solar flashlights, etc…Unlike last years Hurricane Mathews, Amazon actually delivered 90% of the stuff.

Now it looks like Charleston might just get rained on next week…Good news for the folk living there, thought the next storm might be more entertaining.

If you live in south Florida, head for high ground but don’t dilly dally or you could get caught in traffic miles from anywhere.
