What is interesting is there is no “white race” per se. As I found when researching while debating some guy online, there is no particular gene or set of genes for whiteness, but instead anthropologically-speaking there was (and is) a tendency among all ethnic and geological groups to select for lighter colored skin. So “whiteness” isn’t just something that arose from certain European populations, but from many peoples across the planet and can involve many different genes.

People of lighter skin color tended to rule, to be of classes where they could be academics and researchers and businessmen and politicians, and shape our successful “Western” society. It’s not a “white race” thing, it’s just how it was.

kadaka’s correct. The pharoahs and their officials all had lighter skin than their subjects. Two tomb statues of a pharonic minister and his wife showed them to be as pale as I am.

The Pharaohs of Egypt were Greek from Alexander the Great. He conquered Egypt and the ruling pharaoh with Greek generals, who became the new pharaohs.

Yep, Queen Cleopatra III was at least half Greek. Unfortunately, the Greek dynasty adopted the incestuous marriage traditions of the Egyptians — Cleo’s husband was her brother.

Really depends on which cleo, they had a lot of them and all female rulers had one of three commonly used names. All male pharohs used the ptolemy name.

There were some 31 pharaonic dynasties prior to the Hellenistic period. Prior to that were the First and Second Persian periods, with the various Persian rulers or their satraps ruling Egypt. Prior to THAT, there were 26 Egyptian dynasties.

I’d have to say that the vast majority of Pharaohs were indeed Egyptian, not Greek. (Nor Persian.)

Northern Europe was the genuine “melting pot” of the world, genetically speaking, starting with the Celts. Everybody thinks of them as the ancient Britons, but that’s just where they ended up, not where they started. The Celts exploded westward out of the North Asian (Russian) steppe so long ago that there are no written records because writing hadn’t been invented yet. They were the first ancestors of pretty much everybody north of the Alps.

Over the millennia, the various Mediterranean peoples moved in, ranging from Phoenician traders to Greeks and Romans and, yes, even African groups. (Look up the Axumites sometime; very serious maritime traders in the Indian Ocean and Med.) All of them interbred with the locals. The Egyptians probably began as a fusion of three or four different ethnic groups from the Mediterranean basin area and Northern Africa.

When Europe invaded the New World, the same thing happened. Just on a larger scale due to there being more landmass, and more chances for cross-fertilization.

(Did you know that in the early 16th century AD, the population of North America was probably at least 50% larger than the population of Europe? No, really. As to what happened to that population by the mid-17th Century AD, one word; smallpox.)

Today, “whites” of European descent carry genetic markers from almost every other “race” on Earth, simply due to how widely spread and how interbred with other “ethnicities” they have become over thousands of years.

It’s interesting that today so-called “non-whites” are the ones most obsessed with their own “racial purity”. The theorists on that side need to study genetics a little more carefully.

And that “those that would be them” part is the real source of the current strife, as with all the other ism’s that they co-opt out of such induced hatred for themselves…and they don’t even realize they are being “induced” into their own oblivion.

And these are mostly those white europeans we’re bragging on here. All their/our history is true but do these signallers of virtue represent the next and final evolotion?

There is no “white race” per se but once upon a time there were scientific designations for various races. Europeans (and their descendants) were “caucasoid”. The people of African descent were “negroid”. Asians were “mongoloid” (as were people with Down’s Syndrome). Australian aboriginal people were “australoid”. There were names for Pacific islanders and those who once were called “indians” as well. I’m not sure what the designation for the darker skinned, mostly caucasian-appearing folks living on/around the sub-continent was.

The problem is that while there is no race as the “white race” there very much IS such a race as “caucasian”, It is the Caucasian race which is erroneously being referred to as “white”. Races are merely general phenotypes which breed true or when crossed with another present recognizable elements in the mixed offspring. I believe it was Corey Booker who recently found out his genetic heritage was more “white” than “black”. Since the testing done was scientific, the terms used to describe Booker’s heritage should have been, respectively, “caucasoid” and “negroid”. Skin tone aside, Booker’s individual phenotype is visibly more “negroid” than “caucasoid”. Obama clearly was of negroid ancestry even though he had far fewer melanocytes than his father (either the putative BHO Sr or the suspected Frank Davis). A certain collection of facial traits indicate African descent even after a couple of generations. I am convinced it is those facial traits that are being used to designate one’s race and not their actual genetic heritage.
(sorry for the length of this post. I did try for brevity.)

Not sure I would say “white race”, unless you include an awful lot of olive-skinned people in that: Greeks and various Middle-Easterners. After all, the Levant (Israel, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and Turkey) was the birthplace of Judaism and Christianity. Without Christianity, there is no Western Civ. Greek thought played a central role in that development, as well. The eastern half of the Roman Empire sheltered much of the learning of the ancients that Western Europe finally dug back into to create what turned into the Renaissance.

But, yes, Western Europe took that ball and ran with it.

go to most African countries and you will find Caucasians fixing what breaks and keeping the essentials running, not a snub but most blacks don’t have the I.Q. level to keep things running.
same way in a lot of the Middle East, when something breaks down ( GOD WILLS IT ). they don’t have the smarts to fix or maintain anything.

      kadaka

      “don’t have the I.Q. level”

Don’t confuse that with the general problem of seeing anything beyond daily survival. Life is so relatively miserable and hopeless there may be little point to fixing what’s broken let alone getting the education to do it.

Got an aunt who did African missionary work, mostly just life skills training. One year her group was all set to give the villagers some computer training, sent over refurbished PCs. Later I found out they had a problem getting reliable AC from a generator and some PCs had energetically released the magic smoke packed into them at the factory that keeps PCs running.

A later year, they collected bicycles. Very usable, couldn’t be a problem with that, sending marketable items and scrap metal to a land that corrupt.

Last time she asked us for help, they were collecting candles. That was only about eight years ago. They needed lighting so bad they were taking any candle, over there they would also melt down any leftover to make more. I also donated an old unused box of canning wax. They needed Anything.

With crushing poverty like that, it’s hard to find the motivation to fix something not needed for survival now.

Intellectuals and Race by Thomas Sowell, 2013. To copy from Wikipedia’s Thomas Sowell entry:

In Intellectuals and Race (2013), Sowell argues that intelligence quotient (IQ) gaps are hardly startling or unusual between, or within, ethnic groups. He notes that the roughly 15-point gap in contemporary black–white IQ scores is similar to that between the national average and the scores of certain ethnic white groups in years past, in periods when the nation was absorbing new immigrants.

Now on my reading list, might be able to get it tomorrow.

Poverty and motivation are both inherent and learned behaviors. One need look no further than the western half of Hispaniola to see the effects of both. Haiti sits just nautical miles from Florida but is as much a third-world county as any in the world.

It ain’t about IQ, they can tell you in flowery quasi french how to do just about anything but they can’t and won’t actually do shit. We can pray for God’s grace and kindness to put them out of their misery with another hurricane or quake or something, but the Clintons, the UN, and various other thieves and plunderers would induce more of our signallers to throw a few more zillion at it for them to invest in their foundation.

Why do you suspect the Greeks did not develop a more advanced technology? It was a cultural thing that prevented the ideas from being fully implemented. Who knows? We might have already spread to the stars otherwise.

I had previously believed that the Asian-derived peoples of the Americas never knew the wheel. In actuality they did but simply never got the idea to use it other than in toys. I now wonder if it may not have been some quirk of culture.

I think you mean the Aztecs. China had the wheel as a useful item for thousands of years. The wheel barrow, for instance, was invented in China. Their war chariots go back to about 1250 BC. Ancient Japan only allowed wheeled carts in the imperial compound for practical reasons. The land has so many small rivers and streams, that building bridges was impractical.

Don’t you guys think this has a great deal to do with what kind of home they grow up in?

A home with books and creative stuff like fingerpaint and paper, or just paper and crayons is more likely to spur intellectual growth than a home that has kids glued to the TV.

We had both in my home, but the TV did not show up until I was in 7th grade because my father thought it was trash. He said we were all better off at the library than watching TV, He used to give me bus fare to go to the library on Saturday morning and spend the entire day there until they kicked me out.

What do you think would happen to “IQ levels” if all TV networks and stations and services went off the air for a year? There are 16 year old kids (all races) who know less about basic stuff like English and math than I did at 6. Remember, in the early years of the Colonies, blacks were generally not allowed to learn to read.

Much later, Frederick Douglass tried to force the issue and was killed for it.

I would blame this “lack of intellect” more on squelching creativity through electronic entertainment ahead of anything else.

In India, parents crunch their children to achieve. China and Japan, ditto.

Seriously, functional illiteracy is at the basis of low IQ scores, and not much else, including race.

      • December 19, 2018 at 7:11 pm
        John

We have since developed a non-literate IQ test that is a great predictor of future success in life, the problem is there is no way to retroactively test those generations who could not have it.
IQ is not the only factor in predicting success, just the leading one, and the best predictor of all is multiple positive factors.
This is one problem with trying to breed for “intelligence”. The multiplicity of pertinent factors almost guarantee a regression to the mean. It gets progressively more difficult the more factors are involved.

I’d credit Western culture with the advances. Place Indians (India) in the West and they thrive. Yes, technically, they are Caucasians. Same with East Asians, too, as far as thriving. Its the culture, the civilization, the mindset.

    • December 19, 2018 at 12:26 pm

Inherent factors aside, humans definitely are products of their environment, witness the progress of Vietnamese refugees when exposed to capitalist opportunity. But that only works when that opportunity is taken and not obviated by the induced -there’s that word again- tendency of them to do nothing but take and use when possible. Beyond -and integral with- the issue of sustainable numbers, such inducement is the problem with current would-be immigrants to here.

When this anti-white cacophony finally triggered something in my little brain some years back, I decided that to me it was important to distinguish between ‘white supremacy’ and ‘white exceptionalism’. I promote the latter term and avoid using the former term in conversations unless I am with like-minded adults. Of course the typical leftist equates both terms so trying to explain that ‘white exceptionalism’ is logical and provable, is usually futile. The leftist is triggered and may become violent.

I have a couple of relatives by marriage that have leftist leanings. So at the occasional family gatherings if politics enters the conversation, I use the terms interchangeably so I can stir the pot a bit … great fun.

    • December 19, 2018 at 7:33 pm
      John

The “exceptionalism” can be traced almost directly to the ancient Greek concept of the “Logos”, that is, at least in part, the belief in, and acting on, the notion of a consistent comprehensible universe. The Logos has been embraced by Judaeo-Christian philosophy and is the foundation of our success.
It manifests itself in many ways and can easily be subverted.
Take the Roman phrase “Manum manus lavat”, that is “one hand washes the other” to receive you have to give. It is the foundation of the Civic Virtue that up-girds Western Civilization and is thoroughly wrecked by Victimization Politics. No one who believes himself a perpetual victim will buy into this basic premise. Thus you get the myth of “White Privilege” where people who have proven themselves trustworthy are given perks on an ongoing basis.
And it really has nothing to do with color, many whites opt out, but it does have something to do with culture, and opting is is not easy.

Maybe it’s barriers that those other cultures set up for themselves.

Caucasians just thrust them aside and move forward.

Someone sent me some very old photos from the late 19th/early 20th century of what is now Israel and Jersualem in particular. Mostly stagnant, nothing vaguely modern, and any people photographed were attached to hookahs, which were used as a means of inhaling opium. So if you spend your days stoned out of your mind, how much do you get done? If I can find that old e-mail, I’ll bring it up.

Not only that, but their vast irrigation projects demanded an equally vast bureaucracy to run them. Once that bureaucracy was in place, it guarded its privileges with the sword. Someone born into a “class” (caste) stayed there, for life. As James Burke said in Connections, there was no drive to use innovation to rise in the world, because rising in status was not allowed.

Yes, the Chinese invented gunpowder, and rockets, and bombs, and even cannon. They had cannon in their armies by the mid 11th Century AD. (See The Genius of China by Robert K.G. Temple.) And like the crossbow before it, gunpowder was a monopoly of the government, used to keep the “three kinds of barbarians”- and their own peasants- under control.

Incidentally, the Asian “bow” and the more extreme Chinese “kowtow” are in fact ritual baring of the neck for a headsman’s sword stroke. They are the inferior telling the superior “I am ready to die at you whim, Great One”.

When a Chinese official tells you that you don’t know how to bow correctly, consider it a compliment, even if he thinks it’s a clever insult.

Um, there is a metrics problem in that statement. There are some other races that are better under any given set of metrics than “the white race”, which itself is ill defined.

It is noteworthy, though, that it was European Christians who started to put it all together starting around the year 1000 but really getting under way about the time of Gutenberg. It was Christians who invented the corporation concept. It was Christians who put together Aristotle’s observations (via saved Byzantine Christian translations not Arabic translations), the concept of zero, things like gun powder, and much else into the concept of “science and technology”.

That is not to say these folks were “the good guys”. Gun powder is an example. The Chinese had gun powder (and all the other clues) literally for centuries before Christians got to them. And for that we PROBABLY owe the Muhammadans some credit for incentivising the Christians via an existential level of persecution and attacks the Christians had to repulse. Christians had become, at odds with Christ’s direct teachings, a rather warlike culture. And wars spur technology and development.

The “White European Culture” is probably what should be given credit for being the most advanced culture on Earth even though it also invented such aberrations as Socialism and Communism. No group is so good or pure as to not have or produce it’s proper require share of fuggheads.

This accounts for such things as Jews adapting to our culture and excelling, pushing the culture to ever greater heights. It accounts for Orientals adapting to our culture and also pushing us to ever greater heights. It’s not the skin color or other extraneous characteristics as much as it is the culture created, mostly, by European Christians who happen to be white. (And they tapped on to what the Pagan Greeks had started, lest we forget.)

Skye looks… different somehow. I have zero artistic talent, so I couldn’t tell you how. My first thought was that one of the daughters had had another growth spurt.

I dunno, looking pretty good in all the right places here.

To say for sure, I’d have to see the current version of that iconic upside down spreadeagle that used to be on the characters page. What about it Muir? Purely for scientific investigational purposes of course.

Harvard has to handicap its applicants by race , just to get the desired mix. Why the desired mix isn’t 60% Asian is another question.

I am a mutt, and proud of it. Mutts are the best partners, without a doubt. But, so far as I know, Scot/Irish/English/Shawnee is a pretty caucasoidish combination. Hey, that’s me. Whatever else there may be is to be found out through one of these DNA research places, but those are what I know of. I’m for damn sure NOT a “white racist”.

    Whatever…

I sure is good to sometimes sit back and listen to this groups thoughts race off into so many interesting directions and developments.
    A pleasure.
My tribe (Of two of my grandparents) did not get to Europe until around 800 AD.
They speak a language almost no one else understands. They have taken in many other tribes who suffered at the hands of others. They see the beauty of others and demand unequivocally that only they decide who enters their nation’s land.
We have been European for over a thousand years and defended Europe from attacks most of that time.
I have seen the beauty in just about every race there is. So have most in Western Civilization and the Caucasian groups. We love everybody, and our genes prove it.
I say after talking and reading what people across Western Civilization say, is that we will not be forced to accept others demanding to tell us what we will do with our bodies, our lives, and our property.
Western Civilization also offers its cultures the acceptance of reality and the developments that leads to. Discovering what God has created is acceptance of truth and reality. So science advances.
And watch out for those Chinese. They have very high average IQ ( they are still maybe 50 below what I had when I was a kid. Oh poor Aging me.), and they have plans. And they are fulfilling their plans and doing more. And they are here learning with over 300,000 students enrolled in STEM degrees in our universities that take back their skills when they turtle it back to China. Oz has about 120,000 Chinese students who migrate back North to China with their new knowledge gains.
And aren’t all of the humans lovely, each in their own wonderful ways. Don’t try to force us. And do not tread on us.
    Truth is our strength.

Old Codger; you nailed it. It is Separation of Christianity and State. More important, it’s separation of Christianity and everything. You can have all the Paganism, spiritism and Baal worship, et al you can dish out. We can even name government projects after Greek and Roman “gods” and that’s considered OK, even charming, and even a sign of intellectual superiority, but don’t go quoting scripture in context because that’s ramming your beliefs down other people’s throats, and we can’t have that.

Let’s look at the possibility, while we’re at it, that it was the Protestant Reformation and none other which lifted Western Civ. out of the stagnation, tyranny and systematic, wholesale murder (perpetrated by the papal system) of the Middle Ages, and that Protestants, fleeing said romish persecution, were later the initial colonists of what is now the U.S.

Let us consider also that said rise of Protestantism is exactly and precisely that which has been since, and is currently, under attack. If that’s the case, then the mission is almost complete, for just about every Protestant church has, officially, if not all together and knowingly among the congregations, capitulated back to Rome.

Methinks there is a whole lot of history to be rediscovered and examined there, and scripture along with it (staying as close as possible to the received text) so as you can test the various and conflicting assertions regarding the nature of Christianity.

If you want to understand why Western Civilization is so violently hated, you must understand the stories of Constantine, of the formation of the papacy, of the Waldensians and the war perpetrated against them by Romish powers, of Martin Luther, Wycliffe, and all the reform movement and what they stood for. And about what they stood against, why, and how that power is rising again.
