Maybe… JUST maybe…. This whole fiasco will wake up the world and make them understand the importance of being as self-sufficient as possible. Ditch the Green agenda, and countries with oil, coal, mineral assets start developing these assets. Wake up, world!!!
I have an industry war story about our big computer corporation’s first liquid-cooled mainframe. Developed an unplanned algae problem in the coolant. Phoenix-based tech figured he’d solve it same as his swimming pool — add chlorine. Unfortunately, coolant had direct (bathing) contact with chips. Destroyed entire prototype unit, product never pursued.
Some of the freest fun I ever had was when my high school friend Jerry rescued a beat up MGA from his employer’s junk pile, fixed it up, painted it bright blue, and we blasted around all over town throwing that little thing into four wheel drifts and sliding around until the cows came home, absolutely loved it. Jerry is gone now, but he might know from his high perch that little car even in the condition it was then, might be worth 50 G’s. Sam’s with her and Kiko’s expert touches, will be worth well north of that.
I remember many years ago coming across one of those hot rod magazines in which a gearhead retrofitted either a MG or a Triumph sports car with a big block (427?) Chevy engine. I think it was nicknamed Pocket Rocket or something similar.
I suppose that the end product was an American muscle car that self-identified as a British import. (!)
It might make a fun story line for Sam and Zed to put some American muscle into that MGA …
I almost bought an MG, it was a tossup between that and a ’69 Eldorado ragtop but I ended up passing on both. Once upon a time I had a ’71 Vega, it finally rotted out around ’77 and I gave it to my kid brother who promptly dropped a 302 in it. When I left to go back to Base, he had a tape measure out and was arguing with a couple of friends over whether a 455 would fit or not. I picked up a ’74 and drove it for a few months before dragging it out to the EOD range and blowing it up just because it pissed me off once too often, that and we had a case of Forcite leftover from a project that needed to be used for something 🙂

What strait would the shipment from Lucas use?
The Dire one.
… jacketed….
Well-played, sir, well-played indeed. Score yourself five bonus points. ;-D
Damn Henry, way to take my Brit glibness and turn it into Brit hilariousness!
What an opportunity to take fine lines & give it a reliable wiring harness, lol.
Aw, what an optimist thou art.
The old ones will work fine as long as you don’t let the smoke leak out.
Ahh, analog folks here who know what a bubble guage is as well as vacuum tubes. Good clientele Chris.
Ahh . . . the Prince of Darkness; purveyor of the three-position headlight system: dim, flicker, off.
Even if Sam rewired the entire car, it’s not an MGA unless it burns oil and gasoline in equal amounts.
Just like a radial engine, check the gas and fill the oil.
I had a 3-cylinder/2-stroke SAAB. It always burned the oil, but still got 40 Miles to the Gallon, and LOVED winter weather.
Zar Belk!
I had a Dodge van, slant six that near it’s end was a check the gas fill the oil rig.
Actually the only English rig I ever lusted after was the green 3 wheel Morgan, the blonde that owned it didn’t have a bad rack either.
Had an original Mini for awhile stationed in West Germany. (Think the original “Italian Job”.) It was way too much fun,

I like this one better.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_Ace
However, the artistry as always, is
Right on!
Old computer-nerd joke:
Q: Why don’t the British make computers?
A: They havent figured out how to make them leak oil yet.
Beat me to it.

Well..not an Xk at least..
Was Sam still dating Damon when Zed met her?
Yup

Rides rough- – – – -makes noise- – – – -leaks oil- – – – -lights flicker- – – – -yep, gotta be a Brit sports car!
Which, to be fair, unless one chose to delve into Italian misery, were the *only* sports cars of the era…and the title IS all about the English.
I had a Fix-It-Again-Tony, but it ran great.Fiats were either you couldn’t kill ’em, or bad ones that would never work.
And now Fiat makes Jeeps. Go figure.
Wait. The USA gets zero petroleum passing through the Straight of Hormuz. We produce all the petroleum we use in country thanks to President Trump.

I almost got a TVR in college.

Judging from the Kommentariat Chris maybe you oughta let that MGA come back to life.
