Sadly the UFP Prime Directive would not allow Star Fleet to use Phasers on the Corrupt Government Officials no matter how positive the outcome. They are not allowed to interfere with a planets (or Nations) Government.

    But one can dream…

Start Trek always played fast and loose with the Prime Directive. At times, they enforced it when enforcing made no sense; other times, they broke it when that made no sense.
Very often it struck me as watching a toddler play with gas and matches, and doing nothing. At other times, it seemed closer to beating a child for not consuming peanuts, when the child is allergic.

Besides, ain’t no heroes coming for this. We are surrounded by predators salivating over our end, and the enemies are running the show… It’s up to us to handle the problems. And we should’ve started a few decades back. E.g., the RealID. Fought it back then, but now? All the state driver’s licenses are designed to the standard. They got their RealID in through the back door, and we bent over and took it up the @$$, barely a whimper. They’re doing the same with electric cars now – dealer was telling us FedGov wants all electric by 2025. No changes to the electrical grid, of course, and you know DAMN well, police and FedGov will still use gas – we saw this with gun legislation, recall.

They keep doing the same thing, and we keep doing the same thing… They make and enforce laws (which are repugnant to the constitution and to their oath, and in many cases illegal and immoral, both) and we respond with harshly worded letters, and bitching online (which is now being silenced.)
We need to stop playing their game. They hold us to civil discourse, and attack us if we speak.

See the disconnect? One side is at war, the other is saying, “What will the grown-ups think?” (Piggly from Lord of the Flies. We are fighting the Lord of the Flies, and Legion, and harsh words won’t do shit.)

Trump. It must have been Trump. But maybe now they’ll decide he did it using a Romulan cloaking device bought from a Ferengi trader. And that will also explain the disappearance of all the wonderful evidence congresscritter Shifty, er, Schiff saw.

Well, the one thing we know for sure about the Prime Directive of the United Federation of Planets in Startrek is that it is always violated.

Love the “Enterprise” in the background.

But looks like they phazered Union Station. A relic but a nice one, as I recall. Of all the targets, why that one? Or maybe it is a view from the backside and they zapped “museum row”. Still, there were better targets in the area.

my girlfriend is a writer. her local writers group basically said unless your stories have a certain amount of “representation” they would not be considered to be read to the group, no matter how good they were.

my girlfriend responded with “well I’ll start my own writers group! with blackjack…and hookers!” and none of them got the joke.

Yano, I can’t help but be reminded of “A Piece of the Action”. TOS, not to be confused with Strange New Worlds, which I am enjoying as well. Ref; Season one, Ep 1. Kicked in a small “Milk Money” to Sara, I like her stuff. I also got a Kindle of Darkship Thieves. I hope that Subway Troll J. Smith won’t indict me for a J6 incursion for liking this. :). God Help Me, I almost went to that down there. Go Skye!

Mixed feelings about this one. I loved Star Trek as a child, and I still appreciate its general optimism, but man, that future is one of militaristic communism. No thanks.

I do understand the need to use a recognizable, iconic image.

    But still …. sigh.

At least, Sara Hoyt is an outstanding author worth supporting.

    From B-5
The Universe speaks in many languages, but only one voice. The language is not Narn, or Human, or Centauri, or Gaim or Minbari. It speaks in the language of hope; It speaks in the language of trust; It speaks in the language of strength, and the language of compassion. It is the language of the heart and the language of the soul. But always, it is the same voice. It is the voice of our ancestors, speaking through us, And the voice of our inheritors, waiting to be born. It is the small, still voice that says: We are one. No matter the blood; No matter the skin; No matter the world; No matter the star; We are one. No matter the pain; No matter the darkness; No matter the loss; No matter the fear; We are one. Here, gathered together in common cause. we agree to recognize this singular truth, and this singular rule: That we must be kind to one another, because each voice enriches us and ennobles us, and each voice lost diminishes us. We are the voice of the Universe, the soul of creation, the fire that will light the way to a better future. We are one.”

Loved B5, they got right what Star Trek got wrong.
Their ‘Prime Directive’ was ‘shoot back first’

      Captain John Sheridan:
If more of our so-called leaders would walk the same streets as the people who voted them in, live in the same buildings, eat the same food instead of hiding behind glass and steel and bodyguards, maybe we’d get better leadership and a little more concern for the future.

      G’Kar:
No dictator, no invader, can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against that power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
