Running any business is to some extent an interdiction operation. There’s always someone who wants a piece of you and is willing to get it either by coercion or fraud, or some combination of the two. Governments are the worst for doing this, but it extends to other groups, and to individuals too.

All true, but it’s kind of like here in the Fla where they ride us about Floriduh folks, the Florida Man meme, etc. I tell people yeah we’ve got plenty of homegrown crazies, but everybody wants to be here so we get the crazy from the whole country blamed on us.

Seems like in about the same ratio as the illegals too…42%? That’s a wow factor right there.

But still, hardly any legal person will ever be charged with a federal crime, while all illegal persons by definition have committed a federal crime. Lies, damn lies, and statistics. Now include all legal people who have fudged their taxes or possessed weed on American soil who weren’t federally charged.

My rebuke of myself is those tend to be “innocent” crimes while violating a nation’s borders is rather blatant disrespect. Intent matters. And being an illegal protesting immigration law here is like waving a bag of weed in front of DEA agents, they should be arresting them on the spot.

The Double D was always set up with a consideration of the illegals crossing the property. That’s why they had a helicopter with a Mossad sniper.

I think that’s exactly what motivated Andrés Manuel López Obrador to act so quickly in light of DJT’s threats.
He’s already on economically shaky ground as it is. The last thing Mexico needs is tariffs.

Is that stat really accurate? 42% of federal crimes attributable to illeagles? If so, we are beyond a crisis point. For a long time i have suspected that a disportionate % of violent crimes are committed by individuals who vote democrat. An unscientific visual analysis of mug shots leads me to believe that.

Well, since every one of them is committing a Federal crime, it probably is accurate, but not particularly reliable. Ain’t statistics grand?
Are crimes that are willfully unenforced still crimes?
Seems lately that the legal system is only used to bludgeon the people who try to be lawful, the system is truly broken!

That is a very good point…illegal entry is absolutely a fed crime but if that is the basis for that percentile it does change things in my mind.

Well, the legality of drugs is controlled by the feds so a lot of drug violations can be prosecuted under federal statutes, especially high volume dealers. I suspect that that makes up the bulk of the offenses. I believe that most violent, person-on-person crimes (rape, assault, robbery, murder) are usually prosecuted under state statutes. That’s my impression but it’s not my field of expertise.

Eh, statistics, torture the data until it confesses. From Cato: E-Verify Could Have Increased Crime in Arizona

When you deny legal income to illegals they can turn to illegal income like theft and selling drugs, so Dems argue against E-Verify. But it was never legal income anyway since they didn’t have green cards, it’s all illegal. And a read through the piece shows how statisticians “process” even crappy data to “reveal a signal”.

Things like this is why there is a “replication crisis” in the sciences. As Wikipedia sez: “According to a 2016 poll of 1,500 scientists reported in the journal Nature, 70% of them had failed to reproduce at least one other scientist’s experiment (50% had failed to reproduce one of their own experiments).” And if it can’t be replicated, it ain’t science.

        “Print the Legend.”
They have taken that to heart.

And what happens if fear of Ebola has a hand in thousands of Africans fleeing the Congo or elsewhere and getting on jets and flying to the Americas (some fares paid for by Soros), then traveling to Texas and crossing the border into the USA?
Um? Somebody says that some Border control person is saying that’s happening. 30 day incubation period? 12 months viability in sperm? (Girls?)

The Flores Settlement makes them release children within 20 days. A dog or cat brought to Hawaii without proper paperwork could be quarantined for 120 days. They’re six times more worried about animals spreading potentially lethal diseases.

This guy has been at the trip a long time.
The trip took him 4 months.

        Alexandra Bruce commented:
I’m able to understand him perfectly. His English is not too great but he speaks French, Spanish and Portuguese. Unlike many of the Central Americans coming over in the caravans, he says he’s a skilled laborer, a crane operator who’s worked on oil rigs. He is not an illiterate peasant. He says he’s leaving Angola because there are no prospects there. He wants to stay in San Antonio and get a job to provide for his family, to get his children into school, etc. He says it took him 4 months to get from Brazil to Mexico. He says that Mexican law enforcement are corrupt and require bribes and are treating the Africans badly. He saved up to pay for this trip and got help from Catholic charities.
